View Full Version : Thoughts on Crude Raphie and Faithful Falcorr

So far as I can assess from the few times I've fought NMs with the turtle, I can say that Raphie is probably the closest thing to a pure tank that Beastmaster's ever been given. After fighting Wherwetrice for SCH head seals, the only times he was defeated was when I carelessly got petrified and couldn't use Reward. Harden Shell really does well in extending his durability and his resistance to enfeebling effects make cheap TP moves like Baleful Gaze much less of a threat. For the gil spent, Raphie certainly proves his value in battle.

On Falcorr, I'm rarely comfortable using THF jugs on NMs but Falcorr isn't too bad at closing things out if Raphie goes down towards the end. As a farming partner, he's does a lot better than Yuly in terms of kill speed and Fantod only adds to this. I can't say much about Jettatura since S-E doesn't seem to want players using it against anything that remotely resembles anything like an NM. Choke Breath is good but I cannot figure out the range of its effect. Overall, Falcorr is fast becoming a bargain given the rarity of the ingredients needed to make his jugs--then again, maybe that's because people have reason to fish up Abaias now.

That's a short summary of what I think of the value of these 2 pets.

I tried out the turtle in aby in a doll pt. It did less dmg then the leech and took the same ammount of dmg, but it dose have some kind of random def, like guard is guess. 30%'ish of the time it took half.

sounds like a shield-type skill... that sounds interesting enough to test.

I'm definatly starting to like Falcorr alot, definatly can notice a difference in damage between him and ladybug, and always nice having another thf jug with different elemental resistance.

I use Falcorr for everything, and it has yet to ever fail me. Soloing Kirin, every Sea god, omega/ultima, 2 level 90 empys, ect.
Even things that cast magic or have huge TP moves, nothing ever fazes that pet. There is no reason to ever NOT use a Hippo in all situations besides gil cost.

And in the next update he's supposed to be given a dmg buff to compensate for the nurf on TH, which is going to push him up to the top DD jug.

Expand on every sea god? Solo? In a group? AV?

Lets hope so. This never struck me until you brought it up as I was more concerned about the nerf.

As for Raphie you said he takes the same amount of damage as Fatso Fargan, with the acception of what seems to be his shield (or shell) skill? I haven't been able to compare you two so would someone mind posting some tests to show the numbers? Perhaps we can also try to figure out the % Raphie blocks with his shield/shell?

Thanks in advance if you or anyone posts some numbers. ^^

I thought the dmg buff was not going to be till a later update, the upcoming update only has the TH nerf I think.

It is.

Next update is the nerf and that's all.
Update after that is "slight" DMG increase, and modified recipe.

Really sucks that they are doing it in 2 parts. Nerf and keeping the jugs price up?

Basically, that fish is annoying as hell to fish up, so the price will probably remain.

Everything except Love and AV (you may want more people for Fortitude, it easily takes over 1.5 hours solo). Love you probably can do, just haven't tried yet

I don't believe one could solo Love, That thing is a bitch to tank face to face, and his Adds are really not fun.

IDK Though, I've been surprised before.

Guess they changed their mind.

Today's update changed Faithful:

THIII > THI
90 > 120 Minutes
Increased attack power
Adjusted recipe

I'm more excited over his change from 90 to 120 minutes, he always despawned right at the lower end of dynamis and gave me wtf moments.

But I'm excited to test is new damage output etc. never really cared about the nerf either.
