View Full Version : Why are so many things sellable at bazaar but not auction house.

It seems especially out of place now that all Abyssea pop items (that aren't key items) can be listed on the AH. Maybe if some of these things, which a lot of people are buying and selling (such as Alexandrite, Dynamis currency, Forgotten items from Dynamis to name a few) were auctionable, you'd get less crowding in Jeuno from AFK bazaars. Here's just a few things I can think of off the top of my head that should be auctionable, but are only sellable through bazaars.
Forgotten Touch

Forgotten Journey
1 Byne Bill
100 Byne Bill
Ordelle Bronzepiece
Montiont Silverpiece
Tukuku Whiteshell
Lungo-Nungo Jadeshell
Alexandrite
Fomor Codex
Fossilized Fang
Fossilized Bone
That's just off the top of my head. Can't these things be modified to allow sale on the auction house?

Better yet! Get rid of AH altogether and make things sellable only on mules that stand around in designated areas with no means of determining what is for sale other than checking them one by one!
Oh, wait.

I think part of the idea was to have those items not subject to the tracking systems of the AH, so that it would be easier to profit off of certain items, as well as to promote use of bazaars more. However, I agree it's rather silly and really just inconveniences people more.

Especialy if you hate having a bazaar. Also, the AH helps to limit sale prices through competition whereas bazaars do not. In all honesty though, I think it was just laziness on their part. There's no real reason for anything that's tradable to not be AH'able.

they complain about congestion in jeuno, I want to say atleasy 50% of the people that AFK a Bazaar are just selling these items. and most dont get bought because they are asking more then the going rate. If we could put these on the AH you'd see the price drop on alot of these items

That may very well be the reasoning behind not placing them on the AH, imagine each person placing singles or hundreds on the AH how many would be in the auction house at once (999?) more importantly prices on these would crash nearly over night the people who continue to bazaar wont see customers due to AH having such a stock and things like relic weapons could eventually be bought on a child's budget. Geodes went from anywhere from 10k-90k down to 1k. I can only imagine ancient currency and upgrades following suit. Do I think its entirely a bad idea? not at all. Might get aegis sooner then expected. Will relic holders/relic +2/mythic holders like it? not one bit. That is my take on the situation

Yep there is such a glut on the market right now if people could use the AH, prices would crash and hard.
A crash in the price wouldn't be a bad thing though, it will get things moving and it would eventually find a price that would stay constant, one could almost say Balanced.
also would really help people on that last 30k pieces they need that you just get back anyways.

Im not just talking one or two pieces though with how players enjoy undercutting how long before ancient currency is 1k apiece or less? The drop rates arent bad anything /dnc can get 50+ with ease each day. Just since the addition of +2 prices have dropped from 10k to 6k per peice. Price is based on supply and demand and right now supply far out weighs demand which is why so many bazaars are over priced and why people resort to shouting to sell their wares. With how many bazaars are in jeuno and each having 100+ the AH would be maxed out the day of the implementation. If each person undercut just 1g the prices would be in the hundreds day one. (this applies to ancient currency singles, abc, relic +2 but i think 100s would not see such a drastic decline) In short the issue is shear quantity. Again, if relic was 17m for a completed piece I would rejoice for that reason alone I would say add this, but in the interest of logic and reason I just want to point out the flaw in this.
think most people would wait to sell a stack of 99 or a 100 piece, since you get over 60+ aday easy but can only have max of 7 up at once, people would wait and sell stacks rather then singles, which would sell faster and wouldn't be taking up all your AH slots if you wanted to sell other things.

If people have to undercut to sell their stuff that means the demand isn't high enough to sell at the current going rate-
Since the new dynamis a lot of people interested in doing a relic have simply started solo farming or grabbing a few close friends to help, so fewer people are buying.

Do away with bazaars and the hundred of afk players/mules and put up all items on the AH. Congestion down, practicality up.

Well bazaars always have the use of selling things in unlikely locations, e.g. capitalists selling food/potions in front of a BCNM entrance and things like that. But by making everything AH sellable, you reduce the need for bazaars in high traffic areas, which means less congestion :)

Perhaps it just my server then, I've seen 15+ people (I counted for a joke to the LS) shouting at the same time who actually adjusted their shout to undercut each other during the process of. One thing though if the bazaars in jeuno are going largely untouched (which is why they are constantly there) I would not consider that the going rate. I doesn't matter if 1000 sellers have them for 8k, if no one buys then its not the going rate, that just 1000 wasted bazaars. Fact is if someone undercuts the gardens and then shouts isn't logical to assume they will sell quickly? Yet day after day I see people shouting for hours selling 1-2k less then gardens and still not selling. The reason I brought all of this up is one player spent 4 hours shouting for Tukuku shells, and bills 4k each, 400k hundreds and yet in all that time only a small portion was sold. (Yes I am 100% sure it was sales not buying)
That said upon discussing with my LS, I now understand that regardless of how "logical" it seems to me, having these items on the AH would only serve to benefit relic makers (and my Aegis). So, this is me saying I no longer want to counter-argue the subject of something I "secretly" wish to happen.
I endorse this idea please consider adding Bazaar only item to the AH.

shouting at the same time who actually adjusted their shout to undercut each other during the process of. That's pretty funny actually. :p
Here, shouting to sell stuff other than services is not that common. Some people do, but I have yet to see a price war like that. :p

Have you considered FFXIAH? It has a bazaar feature. Granted, it can get annoying to have to repost every month, but it does work for both buying and selling.

I'd suggest anything that is not R/E Auction House~able! Also let the player put more then 7 items on the Auction House. Could make it a Norg quest, Would need 1500 Rusty Subligars.
