having magian trial weapons with different stats but same name, macroing the right one for the right purpose is like impossible like the Tuahjebat, i have the one for the pet mab and i also want to work on the pet -dmg taken staff both are called "Tuahjebat". Simple fix would be Tuahjebat II, III, IV, V, VI like they have done with the other lv99 weapons or hell just change the name completely. i actually decided not to work on the staff because of this problem with macro conflicts, if this actually gets fixed then i'll get to work on it but for now i find it pointless.

i'm surprised not many people seem to agree with this as a problem when it surely is and it can be fixed easily with a simple name change.
Actually, it's been brought up several times now.

It's not a problem for the only weapons people should really need to macro- the staves. I've never heard of wanting to macro swap any other kind of weapon.

I think he IS talking about staves. Only the dmg/macc/perp staves got unique names.
He's saying the pet MAB and Pet -PDT staves both have same names and he wants to be able to macro them.
Or something.

Ah, I figured they had addressed all the stat sticks already since I remember them giving a set of elemental-type staves distinct names after the trials before them not having that.

this really needs to be fixed, especially for all the staves as mages tend to swap weapons for different situations as they dont melee anyway

Your best bet is to leave them at different tiers. Something is going to be subpar but better than not being able to use them at all.

most people don't care because it only really affects smn, as their main uses of the ele trial staves aren't covered by the A/B/C named staves, since smn gets almost nothing out of the elemental affinity: damage/accuracy staves, they only really benefit from the -perp staves; however the pet: stat staves they were given all share the same name, meaning they can't be easily swapped between for their intended use. It's totally understandable, and justifiable, for smns to ask for the elemental trial staves to get varied names, given the situation (speaking as a non-smn)
There are a couple other jobs who have situational use for swapping between trial weapons, like bst or pup, for when the pet is the only one meleeing, and the master is standing back (bsts do it more than pups, and have better ability to use it since they can have two trial weapons for double the effect), and to a lesser extent, plds and nins who are tanking something and not overly concerned about their TP, but would benefit from being able to swap between, say, their PDT trial weapon/s and their MDT trial weapon/s without needing to do it manually.

meh... avatars are already sitting about 55% -PDT naturally because of Stout Servant.....throw on Ducal Guard and they are capped on PDT at 50% hp in abyssea. Not sure just how useful a -PDT staff would be for SMN, except for outside of abyssea I guess. Even then, you may be wanting to use your -perp staff as the main (esp. if you haven't completed Caller's set yet for the extra BP reduction, and -perp, etc) and just swap into your pet MAB when nuking--in which case, you wouldn't even be using the -PDT in that case and you could just put it in your satchel/sack.
But, if you're going to carry them all the time in your regular inventory, your best bet would be to complete one and leave the Shareeravandi at +3, whichever one would benefit you more (only completed one SMN staff so far, rest are still at +3 stage, so not sure yet if MAB or PDT gets another bump or not). Personally, I would lean more toward extra INT/MAB if they do get another tier, seeing as with -12 PDT your already @67%.

I've got a number of swords for varying purposes. Even if they just wind up being "Flame Shamshir" and "Snow Shamshir" and such along the +X process, it'd be better than them all being Shamshir.

I can't look at shamshir without thinking of shamWOW, and then I picture vince offer waving a shamshir around screaming "WATCH THIS! YOU'RE GONNA LOVE MY NUTS!"
