I had an idea for DRG that would take care of 2 major complaints about wyverns that I thought I would share.
Elemental Shift:
DRG - level 60
Recast - 5 minutes
Duration - 2 hours or until your wyvern dies, is dismissed, or respawns due to zone change.
"Causes a change in your wyvern's elemental affinity. "
The abilities sub menu would have 6-8 different elemental alignments for your wyvern.
Each one would have the effect of forcing your wyvern to only use the corresponding elemental breath along with receiving a resistance to the corresponding elements. This would deal with the VW proc issue and add a bit more survivability in some situations without making them completely invulnerable.
In addition to the above effects it could be interesting to add properties to Smiting Breath and the wyverns stats based on the shift:
Flame Shift - Increased attack - Smiting breath inflicts virus
Frost Shift - Increased Magic Attack - Smiting breath inflicts paralyze
Gust Shift - Increased attack speed - Smiting breath inflicts evasion down
Hydro Shift - Decrease MDT by an additional 10% - Smiting breath inflicts magic evasion down
Lightning Shift - Increased Accuracy - Smiting breath inflicts stun
Sand Shift - Decrease PDT by an additional 10%- Smiting breath inflicts slow

These 2 may be asking a bit much but I'll throw them in just for fun.
Aurora Shift - +20% Healing breath potency - Smiting breath inflicts a dia effect (Dia II potency)
Shadow Shift - Wyvern gains an Endrain effect - Smiting breath inflicts Dispel.
Visually the wyvern could take on the appropriate color or even just gain an glow effect. Nothing too fancy.
