Current situation with the game isn't the best, people are bored with the new endgame content which is seen as either not worth doing at all (WoE) or brutal on the playerbase in terms of kill X monster 100-200 times till you get drop then do next, repeat (VW). Quite a lot of people are capped in Aby and the new content they were waiting for as 99 endgame is...underwhelming. All there appears to be to look forward is reworks to all the stuff we did at 75 for years and one other endgame event we know almost nothing about. That's not very exciting at all.
I know Square have a company policy to keep secrets as long as possible and suprise us close to the time with new stuff, is this the best approach though? I would much prefer regular teasers of new content coming out/dev sketches/teasers of the new expansion (I'm assuming there will be one based on a hint from the last interview) I really think FFXI needs to do away with the secrets approach and put out more content teasers ahead of time, silence isnt really the best option right now imo.
The feeling is that FFXIV is stealing the majority of our dev team and budget, showing us whats being worked on in/planned new content would help. This of course assuming there is anything aside from what we already know about that is being worked on/planned for inclusion into FFXI at this time.
I agree. ANYTHING from behind the curtains is welcome. Even if it's concept art, mysterious quotes from new NPCs, or a sneak peek at new systems. I get sad when I visit the forum and there's nothing new in the Dev Tracker.
Then again, maybe they're tired of being personally ridiculed every time they tell us anything.

Go do Dynamis for Relic+2 and the new Voidwatch, they actually drop stuff in part 3 you know. It's why spell prices are crashing so hard.

Well for starters, I'm sure everyone knows that any company would keep they're plans concealed due to competition, but I don't think SE has any competitors who want they're ideas. So yeah, I agree, just let us know what you guys even talk about. Give us summaries of what is discussed. OR! If a DEV comes up with an idea, let the customers vote on it!
Secondly, I think they flat out told us about 3 times now, that 14 and 11's staff are 2 totally different departments. Be that they are lying or telling the truth, I don't think accusation after accusation will change a thing. They're going to do what they want to do with their money.
They're on vacation.
^ Thank you.

Yes and we're going to do what we want with our money. I offer up the cold hard fact of the population decrease this game has taken in the last three years. People are saying no more. SE would do well to remember that while they keep spitting on their cash cow to dish most of it's income on other projects.

Didn't they just give us another updated road map a few weeks ago?

I'm pretty sure they are working on a new expansion right now for instance, so why not give us some teasers about that?
