View Full Version : NM/HNM Fights are boring & easy.

When can we expect a real challenge that doesn't involve standing in 1 spot and mindlessly curing & casting shadows.

When will the Monster AI actually be good? Not just move in front, behind or the side to prevent some ability (Aura's are just another annoying gimmick, and don't really stop any of this anyway).

When/if can we expect terrain & obstacles around us for NM/HNM fights. Diabolos fight was kinda along the lines of this.

Throughout most of FF11 fights have mostly been little gimmicks that are easily figured out and then players adapt.
Not asking for every fight to not contain patterns, but for a way to randomize those patterns better and add depth/strategy to the overall fight.

At the current rate, i can easily see future MMO players demanding top-notch AI/Strategy. It's only a matter of time.

To you new players, enjoy it while it lasts.

Actually that goes for FF1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,10-2,12,12-2,13,14,15,16... you get my point?

/bow to the leet player who has obviously solod PW and AV the first day they were out. Maybe Ezekieal was right and you are just to plain awesome for this game.

It's not like you can fight most of the top tier HNMs like Raja, Rani, Pank, and Shin just by casting shadows and curing. Obviously brews make them easy but you aren't forced to use them. They take strategy and aren't any more of push overs than pretty much any other NM that was introduced. JoL/AV/PW being the exception, everything in the game was probably taken down with in the first week or 2 that it was popped. If you want challenging fights don't read any strategies beforehand and figure out everything yourself. You could also just not use atmas/brews the fights would be crazy challenging. >.>

Actually, I think SE tries to vary Abyssea NMs by using weaknesses based upon day ranges. However, I think the monsters would be more interesting if their actual behaviors varied.
