Every once and a while i get the average Disconnect but its been happening at an increased rate lately. what i notice is that 50% of the time when the game crashes it also force resets my modem. I had my PC hooked up to a Wireless router for a while and it was doing this as well so i took it off the router thinking it was the router and still doing it. ive contacted my isp and they told me it was fine (which i knew) i play ff14 as well on highest possible setting and never get disconnected. also when i played other MMOs i never had this problem.

alternatly i used to have this problem on my old PC and seems to have carried over to my new one. it was good for about a week and started it again. the modem i use is new-er but isnt the problem. is there a postive fix to this?

I have been getting disconnected all day too, and now I can't get on POL-0006 and POL-0010 (XBOX 360). I know it's not my connection, because I have been on all day, every day for months with the exact same connection.

Just got a POL-0260.

EDIT: Now a POL-0011

If your modem is resetting, it is usually due to an issue with the line or the modem itself. Being on edge of signal will cause intermittent loss of signal during heavy traffic, or other things could cause a reset (modem rethunking, rebooting)--the game crashing would not send a reset to your modem.

If there is some weird feedback on your node (could be a bad modem or amplifier in your neighborhood), it could be causing issues. Could also be something with the quality of your line itself, the tap, etc--might need to get a tech on-site to diagnose your line and such. When you call in, don't tell them it's game related, because it likely isn't--you may have a Quality of Service issue with either your line or your modem that needs to be physically checked out. All they need to know is that the modem is rethunking, and you're connected directly to the modem (no router causing issues). When that technician comes, make sure they have a tested and verified good modem for swapping out if necessary. This should not be at cost to you, as it is an issue with the products they are responsible for---but, that may vary among states/ISP, so may want to ask if you would be billed for the service call so you know up-front.

My connection is just fine. I am able to get back into the game after so many error message but continuously get R0. My wife can't get on at all with the same myriad of server busy messages. Our connection with 2 PCs, an XBOX 360 and a PS2 on the internet all at the same time is still better than the majority of the counties:

FWIW: I work technical support for an online banking website. I listened to all the same BS from our managers, it probably is their PC, yadda, yadda, even though their PC worked fin 20 minutes ago under the same circumstances. Low and behold...I found a backend routing issue on OUR servers causing the issue.

This is a FFXI problem.

I go through the same crap at my job with our email filtering company.

Every email is getting spam blocked etc. I call them and they tell me that its a problem with our exchange configuration. Its definitely not their fault. I should go check my equipment and routing.

5 minutes later all email is coming and going as normal with no changes on our end.

Sorry Evandis... I was addressing the OP and not you (forgot to quote).

OP is having a modem reset around the same time the game is disconnecting. The order is more likely the connection goes south, game times out, then he/she notices the modem is rethunking. The root of the problem is more likely an unstable modem/line/node, nothing to do with the game or PC. I went thorugh this myself back around June/July...would hit download spikes upwards of 30k at speedguide.net when connection was going bonkers, then 5 minutes later it would tank and take 10 minutes just to synch up email because the modem would constantly recycle.

I run a fat cable direclty to the tap to avoid as much signal loss as possible, only one other house split off the amp too so I always have a good signal. The first tech replaced the ends for me and gave me new cat6's to replace my cat5's along with a modem swap and we thought all was good. Later that night...the problem came back. A second service call and a second modem (pre-tested this one) later....all was good again and has been good since then.

thats the thing.... i run other mmos without a problem at all and very good up and down speed so i know its not my modem/isp. the only time i have a problem with connection at all is when im playing FFXI when i played wowi could run 3 accounts on 1 PC on highest settings and still have no sort of connection issue so this doesnt make sense to me. i guess ill figure it out myself.... isp says its you,you say its isp .........

Modems, and networking equipment in general tend to crap out periodically, and it's usually not easy to determine until it gets really bad. I really wouldn't be surprised if it was the router.

i just came back to the game like 3 weeks ago so unless the modem said.. oh ffxi lets crap out i doubt it. plus i took it off the router and stil get the issue occasionally. i know several people in my ls and irl that have this problem with the game so its not just me. throwing a new modem at it is a waste if a month down the line im gunna have the same problem and just get told to buy a new modem again. ive tested a few modems out it doesnt fix it. like i said i will post my pingplotter results and youll see. meanwhile if there is any actual fixes around post them please.

edit: the main thing that makes me mad is when i played before diffrent modem/pc/game version/isp i had this same exact issue then it got so bad that i couldnt play so said screw it and played somthing else.

get told to buy a new modem again

????

Are you serious? You are buying new modems??!! Why isn't your ISP providing one for you?

because I refuse to pay them 5$ a month rental for a cheap modem when i can spend 300-400$ and own it and know its good.

the reason I asked is because more often than not (at least in this market) it IS in fact a modem (mine or someone else's on the node or something enroute like a bad amp) that is the culprit. That is why I use one from the provider. They don't charge extra for it (at least it's not line-itemed)--for $55 a month, they better @#$@#$ fix the connection for free....and they do. Modems and routers simply wear out over time....the question is just how long it takes for the capacitors to dry out and such.

well they came out to look at my internet and what do you know i was right not a single problem but yet i still get disconnected from FFXI on a regular basis. myself and my friend both have the same problem on a regular basis the game will just randomly drop out haldf the time its R0 and time out or its straight time out without the R0. my connection is way over requirments for the game.. so im not sure whats causing this problem.

Hate to keep bringing it up, but did they test the same conditions on a known good modem, as in one of their own tested and verified to be in proper working order on their network? Did they scope out your neighborhood to make sure there isn't a problem with the node? I ask that because I had a commercial customer that wrangled with disconnection issues on a cable setup only to find out it was a bad modem several blocks down the line randomly knocking off an entire city block during peak traffic times.

Again.. the game itself would do NOTHING to force your modem to reset. All the game does is hook into the OS's networking layer. What you have described sounds more likely either a line condition (whether that is an issue with the medium, or the physical connections to the PC/Power/Network), or something internal to the modem (IC failing, Firmware or other configuration problem, etc).

Bumping this, I also have this same problem described in the opening post. Random R0s with all ports unlocked happening every hour or two along with my connection crapping out at the same time it happens.

The connection works fine throughout the day without FFXI running and other mmos I play work perfectly. It is a FFXI issue. POL-0006 and POL 2059 are the main ones I get with sometimes others.

I have scanned my computer for anything else that could cause this, spyware or adware and nothing has been found.

If the op found a solution, I'd also like to hear it.
