I have no problem with the relative strengths and weaknesses of the merit Weaponskills. These are new, and eventually a balance will be struck.

What I do have a HUGE problem with is only being able to max out 3. The Dev Team seems to see them as an extension of the Combat Skill category. The player base sees them as an extension of the WSNM system. Telling me I can only boost the accuracy and attack of certain weapons is a minor limit. Telling me I can't have a WS because I already have a WS for another job is a completely different matter.

No one told my I could only quest 3 WSNM, break 3 Nyzul Island weapons. No one said I could only level 3 jobs to their potential. No one told me I couldn't merit Beast Affinity to 5 because I had 10 merits in Summoner, Thief and Warrior group 2 merits.

This is completely contrary to everything FFXI has always stood for to me. Not being tied to one job, or even three. If you want to make people serious about it, fine. How about every point from 16+ put in this category costs 30 merits. You'll keep some people playing for months longer than they might if all they have to look forward to is capped merits and no chance to enjoy a Scythe skill on Dark Knight because they chose to use the Polearm, Katana, and Great Katana merit weaponskills.
