According to this post (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/14958-NA-ClickandBuy-Transaction-Fee-Issues) international transaction fees have been delt with.:confused::confused:

THEY HAVE NOT. :eek::eek::eek:

I just checked my bank account and the (piss poor) Click & Buy billed me on 11/30 for $12.95 then my bank hit me with a $0.39 International Transaction Fee.:mad::mad:

Now is SE blowing smoke in our faces or does this fix not kick in till December?:confused::confused:

i too since the switch to click & buy have been being charged the transaction fee and am fed up with it 6 years ago when i signed up for this and agreed to SE terms and conditions i dont remember the part where it said later on down the road they would allow some 2 bit 3rd party slowly RIP ME OFF.
Dear SE i would like a REFUND for every transaction fee i have paid you swore it wouldnt happen it did u swore it was fixed it wasn't.
from my stand point you are in breach of a typed verbal agreement between you and your player base.
all in all SE please do something about it thank you

AGAIN this month on 12/30/2011 I was charged a International Transaction Fee.

SE you need to fix this NOW. This is complete bullshit that you picked a service that charges your entire NA player base EXTRA when you had a billing system in place that did not do this!

again.. that transaction fee is (typically) charged by YOUR bank because you are doing business with someone in another country. Granted, SE was supposed to get them to bill it differently to avoid that scenario (C&B had a footprint in NY, IDK to what capacity it operates though). As long as C&B is billing from the UK to the NA customers and such, there is likely going to be that charge from your bank. Not something SE necessarily has direct control over--it is more an issue between C&B and your bank.

But yes, SE should have investigated this further before signing up with them to make sure steps were taken to avoid it, or provided full disclosure about it upfront. Unfortunately, either they were misled by C&B over the issue or they didn't ask the right questions before signing a contract with them.

I havent even switched over yet. I tried signing up to Cickandbuy and it wouldn't let me so I decided to wait until SE came out with a better method... Still playing the game and awaiting more updates to all this BS :P

Buy crysta every month with your credit card no extra fee.

Buy crysta every month with your credit card no extra fee. It's what I do. SE even sends you billing notifications so you know when to add more.

That's your bank's fault, not Click & Buy's, but you should report this to SE directly anyway, as it is an account issue. Posting on the forums to whine about it won't get anywhere.

Still playing the game and awaiting more updates to all this BS :P You don't need clickandbuy, there already are better methods available. Just use one of those. They'll force the switchover eventually anyway.

Just use CC or paypal to buy 1295 crysta each month. Much simpler; and with the new system, if you want to take a short break, it's easy to do so. Let your subscription lapse, and pay+reactivate when you're ready to play again. It can be a few days, or a week, or longer. No more confusion and false double-billings.

I checked my bank account and I was charged (again) about 0.42 cents for both accounts on my SE account in December. Is this just the way it's going to be? :(

No, just don't use click and buy and your problem is solved. You still should contact SE to let them know this is still happening however.

While I don't have international transaction fee, I find C&B conversion rate to be ridiculous (USD to CAD).

While I hate C&B just like the next guy, but you should know that your credit card issuer deals with the currency conversion, not C&B.

For what's it's worth I'm canadian also, one of my accounts costs 15.95USD and was charged 17.30CAD.

Let me explain, even though the exchange rate is now (as of this writing) 1.01955USD > 1CAD the banks and credit card companies protect themselves from fluctuations by adding around 5% or more on the rate.

Like I said, I hate C&B too, but lets put the blame on the right people, banks/credit cards are evil too :)

I assumed it was C&B simply because they tell me in the email they sent they are charging me 16,35$ CAD. I can blame my bank when in let's say WoW blizzard charges me 14.99 usd and my bank does the conversion :P

It would be cool if they just went back to the original system of direct pay. Never had an issue for the entire 7-8 years it was in place. The amount of these transaction fees each year is about equal to paying for a whole extra month of FFXI.

As stated earlier....Crysta is another option for regions where it is supported. Since they've integrated the manual amount option, you can sign up with Playspan and slingshot through them--they take all kinds of different payment methods over there. You can actually use Ultimate Points to buy Crysta also, in a round-about kind of way. When you go to redeem a UGC code, it will poll your Playspan account for UP and offer to convert them to Crysta also. So, you actually have several options if you use the Crysta route. You can actually put in to buy an odd amount like 2590 crysta and cash in 590 UP, than add a $20 UGC code. Haven't tried it yet, but you might even be able to "trick" it into just redeeming the UP (it asks for that first) than cancelling when you get to the UGC entry screen.

New credit card option is SUPPOSED to be in the works though.....been pushed back over a month now, with no hint at when it is actually coming other than that it is supposed to be available to pay for 14 (provided that it is also made available to 11 at that time as well). Until then...there is the Crysta option if it is available in your region.

No pay is "direct," at a minimum it has to go through a credit card processor (VISA, Mastercard). It doesn't get much more direct than using your credit card via UltimatePay (Which, by the way, is owned by VISA), which is perfectly useable and safe and easy and instant. That being said, a new credit card option is supposed to be getting added soon.

The old system sucked for its inflexibility, and confusion in making a lot of returning players think they're being double billed. More payment options is always better, and they will be adding more.

ClickandBuy Transaction Fee Issues ResolvedIn September, we identified an issue wherein certain customers using ClickandBuy as their means of paying fees for various services were being assessed an international transaction fee by their banks. Since then, we have worked vigorously with ClickandBuy to resolve this issue for affected customers and prevent it from reoccurring in the future. We are happy to announce that this has been accomplished.

We thank you for your understanding and patience regarding this matter.

Why are you sharing this with us? Why not get chat or phone support like the response instructed you to do and then tell us what happens?

Almost all significant account/billing issues require you to use phone or chat support.

to anyone that still is having issues theres how to contact note the phone number IS NOT toll free Did you expect it to be? The other major publishers don't have a toll free number either (hell i scoured EA's website and couldnt even find a phone number or even a contact form...). Not that this is an issue for any good phone service these days which has unlimited long distance...

Besides, they specifically mention you can contact them without incurring any costs by using the chat instead.

just dont use clickandbuy simple to get around the fee which i have been charged, I found the ultimategame card. check their website for a store in your area, if you have a walmart, walgreens or speedway they all have the card, yes you have to buy a 20$ card but think of this, 2 cards is 3 months worth of crysta if you only have 1 content ID.

link for the card http://ultimategamecard.playspan.com/

instead of hitting click and buy you hit ultimatepay or w/e

unfortunately, chat support isn't always available. Last time I went looking for it, it wasn't there--only the email option. Emailed them that chat wasn't available, and got the same patented reply to use chat (DOH!) or call them....

And yes, when a game is bringing in the truckload of cash like this one does, I would expect there to be a toll free line to my regional division. We had a small operation of only 11 people selling parts wholesale to a 3 state area and we had an 800 number. The software firm I worked for before (8 people) that had an 800 line also. So did the wholesale florist I worked for when I got out of school. IDK how it is internationally, but it is fairly common practice in the US--and there is a US division.... assuming they haven't completely dissolved the US billing support with this credit card debaucle, as that IS a US based phone number.

Last time I went looking for it, it wasn't there--only the email optionThe chat support option is only selectable for certain issues (generally account issues). For tech support the option doesn't appear. But you can always just select a topic that does give you the chat support option and then talk to them about whatever you want when you get in.

that just further shows the problem... you will get told to go through chat for a technical problem. Again....it is not always available when they are TELLING YOU TO USE IT FOR THE ISSUE AT HAND.

That's because they're basically burying it so that you only use it if you really need it, so that they can hire fewer people who can't help you to try to help you. In short, being cheap. It also cuts down on wait times.

But hey, GM Dave can put things in perspective for you. If you had over 9000 whiny kids initiating chat just to bitch about things beyond your control as a support rep "Y R WAR BEING NERFED!?!?" you'd probably want to make it hard for them to reach you.

(Kinda playing a bit of devils advocate here)
