Since we are actually paying for FFXI it seems like its unfair to be charged for March if the game is going to be down for an extended period of time a week or more.

I don't even have an option to cancel my account since Play Online is down.

They posted on the main playonline site that they are giving the month of April for free.

Take a closer look at the announcements. The twitter thread says there's no charge for April.

It will most likely stay down for a month or two, or least that's what I think, and if it runs over to the next billing cycle I'm sure they won't charge for that either.

They can't do March because we had our accounts active during March, and will be billed for that when it is due.

They bill in advance. We've all all paid for March already.

yeah, they bill us on the first of the month, that's why on the first you always get that check fee's notice when you log in. Tho i can understand that being confused with the last day of the month easily.

I think you might be right there. As long as it takes is fine with me, I notice that the admins are still here as threads have started to be locked (they should really be canned altogether) so I'm sure we'll be kept up to date on the situation.

Not all of us paid for March already. I de-activated my Content IDs at the end of February, thinking I was going to take a break but decided not to. Then re-activated them on March 1st during Registration Server maintenance even though SE claims you cannot during that time, which obviously you can. My charge for March will come next month.

I would be surprised if that were the case. This is Japan. I have the utmost faith they will quickly have things moving back to normalcy as quickly as possible. Food, shelter, water, and electrical power are the first things you want up and running. You also don't want your businesses off-line for too long. You'll want revenue flowing into your country. Especially, foreign revenue.

My apologies. I had the billing process thought wrong.

I've been having some issues with how my bank now does things on the 1st for the last couple months, and do have one month outstanding. We'll see how they can deal with that if and when the game comes back up.

I have no dispute that what you are saying is that every attempt will be made.

HOWEVER: Some of the stuff I've been seeing pictures and videos of is just frightening.

Don't get me wrong, I mean I hope they do sort this all out soon. Not just for the game's sake either. I'm just saying that I wouldn't be surprised if took a month or so. Either way, I can hold off on the game but I worry about the people.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. There are some other issues that can cause problems that aren't getting press because of the overwhelming nature of the quake and tsunami as well as the fact that a nuclear crisis is currently in play. So, you are right. I've seen the pictures, read the stories, listened to the personal accounts, and am hawking the nuke situation. But, I'm trying to be hopeful of all things for Japan. That current issues will quickly be resolved and that future issues are minimal. If the game is off-line for a while, it really isn't important in the big picture. But, I am hoping that the Japanese people can go back to what constitutes a "normal" life following a horrific incident. Even going through the wimpy 6.8 Northridge quake, I know what a disaster can do to your feeling of balance.

You mean the 30 free days when you make a new account? No one knows for sure, but if i were to guess i would say no.

No matter what, the most important thing is that we keep the people of Japan in our thoughts. There are already horror stories of people who have been swept away, along with their homes and even their neighborhoods! SquareEnix is being VERY classy about this, in my opinion, and I look forward to hearing good news about the recovery of Japan as a whole, as well as the good news about the continued improvement of FFXI!
