Need advice..not sure what to do

Today, off and on, my character starts running like mad, the camera goes crazy, the cursor starts spaming my meno list (going up and down the list none stop) or the the short list (items, trade etc..).

If I hit heal "*" button healing stops the movement, but not constant movement of the cursor and the camera is staring at the floor. I play around with it till it stops. I do have Mozilla up in the background but for 5 years that has never been a problem, I play in Windowed mode ever since it came out. I shut Mozilla off, sometimes that worked, sometimes just hiting buttons worked. Sometimes Mozilla was not even up.

I have rebooted the game and the machine, but eventually it would start again. This has happen a few times over the years but not 20 times a day like today.

Any Ideas?

Generally when i have had similar problems in the past it has been due to my gamepad dieing. (If you don't use a gamepad then hmmm) But next time to determine if it might also be your problem while it is doing all the crazy stuff unplug the gamepad. If it stops, then you know it is finally time for a new gamepad, If it doesn't then maybe try to check files for errors.

I've been connecting my PS2 controllers via USB adaptor for years. This would sometimes happen if the controller wasn't seated properly--kick it with my foot or something and cause it to shift just slightly and everything would fall into a tailspin. Had to get a new adaptor a while back because I replaced my worn out original PS2 controller and the plug seemed a bit slimmer and just wouldn't fit snugly anymore.

Sometimes Windows itself would have a brain fart and just forget the device--go to game controllers snap-in and it would be blank. Unplug everything, plug it all back in. Usually had to reload the game though if Windows forgot the controller config...doesn't refresh the DirectInput API I guess once the game is loaded.

I've had to reconfigure mine, then realized the mouse was causing problems. Make sure the mouse is not the villain, or reset your controller config in the game menu, this worked for me.
