CONTEST OPEN TO MEMBERS WHO ARE LEGAL RESIDENTS OF THE U.S. AND CANADA (EXCLUDING QUEBEC) OVER THE AGE OF 13. IF YOU ARE NOT A RESIDENT OF THESE AREAS, YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO WIN A PRIZE, AND SQUARE ENIX RESERVES THE RIGHT NOT TO AWARD PRIZES TO CONTESTANTS WHO RESIDE IN OTHER JURISDICTIONS.

I am a qualifying member but this excludes a lot of people.... EU / JP rest of the world even some Canadians... I am sorry but in this game i play with all members from aroudn the world from Japan to Canada To Mexico and many other places in the world I can not bring myself to a contest that does not allow all to participate its discrimination and not fair to me or them I feel.

Nomad Moogle Statue is a reward for recovering the Tablet of Temperance, so it's not like the item cannot be obtained by any player from any region.

I suspect it has more to do with copyright law, since they are using your "Moogle's Law" in a public setting (Twitter).

If those regions want contests then talk to SE in that region? Assuming they're even allowed contests. You guys don't understand how contests work in a legal sense.

For all we know tomorrow the JP have a contest that's JP only and they get a free moogle shield. Somehow I doubt SE is making an effort to do NA only contests. If they don't already do them elsewhere, there's probably a good reason there isn't contests for other regions.

As far as Quebec is concerned it falls under their sweepstakes laws. They are so stringent that even lotto corporations avoid selling all but their biggest money makers there. On top of that SE would not be allowed to let minors participate even if they did jump through all the other loopholes, and how do they enforce that? I would imagine other countries have equally contentious regulations.

well personally I have seen many contests over the years playing FFXI and not once did it rergionalize it...
its an in game object not something they can physically take home or claim so saying there are legalities over something that u can never really own is a bit of a mute point. just does not seem right to me to not all be playing on an even playing field universally in a game that we all play together in.

Then you need to complain to your local government and try to get them to change the law for virtual prizes.

so i guess this means that we need to now cancel the mog bonanza for everyone outside this area for the last 9 years as well which gives currency and prizes and statues as well.... if this was illegal then why make if only for this and only one previous contest ever?? So then all previous other contests would or are illegal that they have held then ... sounds a bit strange to me.
