Moogle Law
Drop rate for any item off an NM is inversely proportional to the degree of which you want said item. The more you want it, the lower the drop rate.
No matter which way you run, a mob always turns around and runs in your path, turning again and ends up running with you, staggering your character.

Moogle Law:
This goes back to the old days of leveling. You would sit for hours with your flag up waiting for a party invite. Once you get the

Once you zone in and tell the leader to invite you, the party leader then tells you the party is disbanding.

Moogle's Law: Walking through Kazham only to fall through the floor near Mihgo's Residence. Everyone passing by steps on your head while you attempt to get out from under the flooring as a THF/NIN with no form of warp. Logging out and back in does nothing to resolve the issue, a GM answers your call, frees you from the entrapment under the floor and as you jump for joy, you realize he put you in jail.
(A true coincidence. during my 3rd year of playing. My friend I was in party with were baffled on why I fell through the floor (game glitch?). After numerous tries we were unable to free me, even with a D2 (I was unable to be targeted by the spell but seen by cursor). The GM shows up after 2 hours and frees me but warped me to "jail". Thankfully it was only for a few seconds (I believe the GM was having fun as he wasn't sure how I ended up under the flooring). Since then, I walk carefully in Kazham and stay away from edges.

Moogle's law... Ha! It follows me everywhere I go. So many instances, so little time. But I'll use the ones I had yesterday. I woke up early to see if things had sold that I'd placed on the Auction house, before I had to leave for work. Surprise, they were returned to me... Next a fellow Blue Mage in my linkshell asked about the the Spell "White Wind." I told him that the Puks in The Boyahda Tree were the ones that used it. I quickly changed to Blue Mage and set-out with him and 2 others to learn the spell. Upon arriving with picked up a fifth member, and prepare to start fighting. Well, It was a good thing I picked up Reraise III from the book, because in my attempts to pull the Puk, I managed to aggro two of the near by crawlers instead and killed all 5 of us. *sigh* But most had reraise, and we got up and continued. But I again found the tome that was near by and got Reraise III. A few Puks later, I had to leave for work, and I missed my chance to learn this spell. Turn forward several hours, I return to find my friend still out learning spells this time it was "Water Bomb." The two of us joined up in Mamook, and made our way to the Poroggoes. Along the way Fate smiled upon me and I didn't aggro the True Sight and True Hearing Notorious Monster that I didn't see until after I passed. YAY! Maybe my luck was on the upswing. We finally get there and all is well. We start fighting and of course I'm not able to cast to many spells because I have all heavy hitters, blah!! So around the 3rd fight I switch out a few of my spells for lower level ones and unequip my swords again. Then it happens, Moogle's Law.... The stupid Poroggo charmed my friend and I'm now being pummeled by the pair. And of course, he charms him moments after I have changed spells, so no way to help myself there... And I removed my swords and reset my TP and can't use the Curing waltz. So I'm barely hitting with my fists, as Blue Mage are known for their terrible accuracy in fisticuffs when it comes Bar Brawls and I eventually die to a Tier IV spell. Still all was not lost!! I still had Reraise from this morning~!! I could get up! and so I did! Well, He was fine and so my friend pulled another, I'd help with what I could while weakened and maybe finally learn this spell. The battle started! Then I saw it the first TP Move: "Frog Song," and I knew I wasn't the target. Quickly I started to cast Dream Flower! (Ha! You Stupid I was ready for you this time!) Zeargi casts Dream Flower, Poroggo is asleep. HA! Wait, what?! 1 Crit, 2 Crits, dead... Zeargi is defeated by Leons... Defeated, I returned to my home point.

Any time you are soloing a particularly difficult and accurate notorious monster on /nin, as it is down to it's last 5% health, you will run out of shihei and need to get more from your toolbag. Invariably this toolbag will be in your mog locker, which you have not auto-sorted in weeks.
You will always run out of HP approximately 3 seconds before petrify would have worn off.

not my entry, and I've seen it elsewhere, but my Linkshell's motto has always been: "No matter how tough you are, there's always a rabbit that can kick your ass!"
my entry: in a pick-up group, the closer you are to death, the more likely the healer goes AFK to check their facebook/twitter/text messages, etc.
alternate: the worse the timing, the more likely the lag spike
