I have complained about this once of the BLM forums and now I am complaing here. Right now WoE is impossible for GMT players, how are people meant to do get the items that come from these events if no one is there during GMT times? It is either do without or pay a ridiculous amount of gil for the few items that you can buy.
The events are horrible! No one wants to do them. With a 1 hour wait you can't spam the even but at the same time you can't go do anything else. So you spend most of your time doing nothing, when you do get into them the mobs are so horibly hard that you spend most of your time weakend and thus doing nothing.
Skeletons in WoE 11 hit so hard that even with stoneskin if you get hate as a Taru BLM you die in 2-3 hits and it doesn't matter how carefull you are, you can let a mob get to 1/2 HP cast Fire III on it and then get hate and die. At the same time your forced to try and do some kinda damage because if you do not get over 6000 Exp then you wont be getting a scroll.
Monsterous Birds in WoE 09 hit so hard that your dead in 1 hit even with stoneskin up and at maximum spell range. I find it near impossible to get over 6k exp either because I have to limit my self so much that I do not do enough damage or if I do do enough damage I get hate, die and then sit around doing nothing and thus don't get enough experiance due to that. Not to mention their AoE spell that halves HP and MP again even if your at max ranhe from the mob an ability that halves you HP/MP with no warning that goes through stoneskin and can't be resisted is just horibly cheap and trollish.
I spend 90% of my time doing NOTHING in WoE, I just sit their for most of it. I can log in for 4-5 hours and maybe do 40 mins work and sit their bored for the rest of the time. No wonder no one is doing it! I almost always find my self loading up another game whilst I sit waiting for something to happen in FFXI. It is just not fun and to top it off their is no reward at the end of it all.... Oh no wait that is right, LOGS AND ORE LOGS AND ORE LOGS AND ORE!
Please either fix the horrid event that is WoE or remove it! We have been told that increasing spell drops would result in less coins being droped. HERE AN IDEA REMOVE LOGS AND ORE FROM THE DROP TABLE AND REPLACE THEM WITH THE SPELLS AND COINS PEOPLE ARE AFTER!
Edit:
You know I think SE belives this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hP0kWqJJZa4

I like WoE. Sadly, most of the time its impossible to do because no one is there doing it.

I must say since it's not worth to waste time, that y. no need to sad about your blm can't do 6k+ exp in there so can't get scroll, even my smn can deal 12k exp in there i also nv get anything else junk form it's chest, unless you count 1 coin that i no need drop once form tons times.

This is a problem for me as well. How to fix? Rewards need to become better. Either in the form of spells, rare/ex gear, or by making the WoE mini-empyreans better.
In the case of mini-empys, the level 95 version of those should probably outperform lv90 empys by 20%, excluding the aftermath. Lv99 mini-empys should *definitely* outperform lv90 empys even when you include the aftermath.
There are numerous ways to improve on lv95/99 mini-emps. You could give them a sort of mini-aftermath (occasionally deals 1.5x damage?), add fancy stats like store TP or crit damage on the actual weapon, increase the base dmg by a lot. The possibilities are endless, but what's important is that they become better than they are today. The way it is now, a lv95 WoE weapon is still weaker than a level 85 empy, and that simply isn't fair. Looking at how the base dmg of the WoE weapons have increased over the last few level increases, it looks like even at 99, these weapons will be weaker than lv85 Empys.
In reality though, this isn't a empy/woe issue. I don't think that a level 85 Empy should be insanely much better than lv95 AH weapons either, but they are. Even at level 99, the best craftable or NM-dropped weapons are unlikely to be stronger than lv85 empys.
A level 95 empy should be a bit stronger than a level 99 NM-drop weapon, sure, that's fine. A level 85 empy should not.
I love graphs, so I think i'll make one to show how i think it should be

Why should they do? They are still easier to get while there is no competition at all.

Deceptive chart... why not leave Paint for what it is, and use proper numbers instead of emo numbers with some decent free charting tool?

I've yet to hear anyone shout for things like this, salvage, assault, nyzul, etc during GMT prime hours. I hear shouts rarely but they're usually really late on at night for me, never heard a shout for WoE yet nor does anyone I know seem particularly interested in it. It's not a flaw that can be easily fixed either, the vast player base is either American or Japanese with a very small base of European and British players spread across different servers. This could've been solved at the beginning if SE provided regional servers so that people had more of a chance of meeting people within their own time zones and not having to mess with their own sleep patterns. It would also fix the unhappy players (like myself) who dislike the fact that maintenance is always done during JP late hours because the regional servers would then be maintained at a time when people are in bed across the globe. But SE is adamant they will not have regional servers. I don't know what the reason is, I think it's to encourage competition at all hours, but there's a lot of cons to having universal servers and being unable to take part in events during GMT prime time is one of them. It's maybe too late now to even implement regional servers if SE ever had a change of heart because a lot of European players would've gotten to know their overseas cousins like brethren and the idea of leaving them behind wouldn't appeal to them even if it meant being able to do more things with people from their own timezone.

btw if you think WoE in GMT is hard try doing LB10. You have to spend the day farming items from DC-IT mobs, you may or may not get help in that because most people will be working/in school/in bed. Then you need a party with at least 3 tails to use, chances are you won't find any help because your ls is sleeping and a good portion the few people who are shouting for LB10 have both bad gear, bad skills, and don't have the tails. The best players of your ls don't come on until 3-5am GMT and they're already level 99, and because they're already level 99 they aren't interested in helping you either or there isn't enough members online.
This game is not for GMT players. I'm more than tempted to return to World of Warcraft, or even try out the new Star Wars Online. At least World of Warcraft has European servers with European players who play at European times and does maintenance during European bed time! Not just a front page and a universal forum which has a front page link that goes to an American page.

What's emo about them? Please elaborate.
What's deceptive about it? Can you show me a great axe that is not a lv90/95 Ukonvasara, but is stonger than a lv85 ukonvasara?

I farmed the items GMT prime time and the area was crowded. So there are enough GMT-player.

#1 So you'r part of a international / non GMT LS - don't blame you'r LSmember for not beeing GMT.
#2 For the fight you don't need the uber gear. Skill yes but not the skill of a pro.
#3 Help them!
The best players of your ls don't come on until 3-5am GMT and they're already level 99, and because they're already level 99 they aren't interested in helping you either or there isn't enough members online.
You'r obviously a member of a LS with a bad habit not to say that in your own opinion all GMT-players (including yourself) are just trash that leeches everything and all. Grow some balls!

That's fine for you.
It's good that all FFXI servers are international and not national/regional, since you find at every time someone online while on regional servers you'll be one of a few players at certain times and that's a waste of time.
