New Sword WS at 99

just letting some of the PLDs out there know, so far on the test server the new sword WS is pretty fail. Was expecting a'lot better. Seems to be MND based.... really....not kidding.

Yeah, I've been considering getting the club one for pld instead since... pld has decent club skill and they gave us that one lvl 94 club with 71 dmg or w/e... just seemed like that may be a better option but i havent seen much testing on the sword one.

I cant believe that at 99 they give a MND based WS.... It serves BLU more then anything I believe. I am going to toy around with Club tonight maybe and see what I come up with. Its sad that I barely broke 2k WS in Abyssea. outside it must be terrible. I used a few different combos of Atmas. I used VV Allure (which I changed to Undying) and Mounted Champion. For some odd reason I did more damage adding the VIT from Mounted Champion. Not sure if it was just a double attack procing a'lot more, but it was noticeable. Maybe a 2nd MOD? Before MC I was using RR and Sanguine Scythe just to see how different things tested.

The sword WS is not critical hit and its TP mod is bonus attack. So it's gonna fail inside abyssea like all non-crit WS's fail. The MND mod is kinda wtf, more for RDM me thinks (they don't natively get Vorpal), looks to be stronger then Death Blossom. That and RDM tends to suffer for lowish attack most of the time.

For PLD, definitely look at the seven hit club WS, PLD has A- skill and recently access to some high DMG hammers.

well was thinking like i posted in other thread that the +10% magian trial weapon + new ws meritted with mods/ macros could just pwn the empyreans and honestly after the last group of ws's and the new level increase i think they should

i just need to test with a friend what skill chains we can pull off with them yes some of us still skill chain and mb in this day and age :)

It'd have to trump it considerably to even have a chance of outdmging it, thanks to aftermath. Doesn't sound like it does...

Well hold on now...maybe there's a middleground to this. I'm not familiar with how aftermath effects work. Do you keep the effect if you change weapons?

If so, occasionally deals double damage on a 7 hit club WS doesn't seem so bad.

That being said, the enitre theory is shot if you need to keep the weapon equipped, in which case you could make some good damage out of Requiescat's 5 hits with aftermath effect.

I cant believe at 99 they are giving us bad weapon skills that are just all show. A couple of them might be good that I have not tested, but at 99 nothing should be this gimp. Seriously what jobs use sword the most, and they use MND as a modifier..... seriously come on....

You do need to keep your weapon equipped for aftermath, swapping it removes it automatically. that and the ODD doesn't proc on WS's, just normal swings.
