It's better than Jin, not as good as Hi if you have Kannagi, but MAY be better if you use Tobi. It won't have those ridiculously low dips that Hi has when you miss the main hit. Not sure about Shun VS Jin inside Abyssea.
These tests were done with the finished WS (5/5 merits), when it's at lower merits it's a pretty mediocre weapon skill.
Also looks really spiffy. Basically it's what Blade: Ku should have been. Just search it on youtube ("Blade: Shun XI" or something) if you want to see it.
do you think shun could outperform Hi in situations where your critrate is low? or maybe on high defense mobs? there has to be an application for this to be somewhat superior, though currently it looks like it's best use will be with kikoku.

High defense mobs are where Critical WS shine, so that's unlikely. The lower the defense, and thus the less benefit you'd get from a critical hit, the closer it would get to Hi - but it's probably never going to beat out having an ODD aftermath.
hoping there would be a situation where lvl 3 aftermath > shun 3x > lvl 3 again would work. i guess we'll see on release.

Word is that Shun is Fusion/Impaction, so we finally have a good Light-skillchain WS. Well, I guess Metsu could kinda count.
We get Exenterator too, and that's Fragmentation.
We're just missing a Distortion WS. Kinda funny we have more options on the Light side...

Also tests from BG seem to indicate that Shun has an attack penalty which is trying to be nailed down right now.

Nobody doing more accurate tests on this WS?
I tried it only a few times on normal mobs and on Qilin. At 300 TP it was doing more damage than Hi and, of course, Jin on Qilin. Not a huge difference, but still...
On normal mobs it was worse than Hi and better than Jin. Used Tobi+2 for the tests.
My sample is too limited to get to any conclusions sadly. Will probably be good for people with Hi and meh-ish for people with Hi?
Altough it could be an interesting options on mobs with huge defense if what I saw on Qilin wasn't just a coincidence.
