View Full Version : Lackluster spells: your thoughts?

Really curious to see other opinions on this. what spell/spells would any of you want SE to take a second look at? I have seen quite a lot of rants on this. I wonder if SE will ever adjust some of our older spells to be made useful again.
Some ideas I have:

Feather barrier - this should really have a longer duration. duration should be equal or greater than the recast.

Magic barrier - don't let it get overwritten by lesser stoneskins

Animating wail - same as above but with haste.

Mortal ray - Bleh, idk what should be done with this spell

1000 needles - more acc, less mp

Barrier tusk - longer duration, better casting time

Ram charge - other than using it for sc's, it's a dull spell.

temporal shift - better recast

Shock spikes - duration equal of a blm's shock spikes.

diamond hide - make it better

I'm sure some of you have something to say about asuran claws. I like its cheap set cost for counter, however. So, any other opinions?

Shock spikes = plasma charge. Bleh, typing this on my phone.

Most of these I agree with, but Animating Wail is silly. If they're casting haste on you why do you need to waste 5 set points and the MP/time to cast Wail?

Most of those I agree with too, include Bad breath though. SE made the penalty 1k needles and Bad breath too harshly... HUGE mp cost and casting time and terrible effect/macc?

I adore Magic Barrier, and it nearly always finds a place in my spell list. It however drives me insane when I cast it to find it had no effect because of a whm cure-skin.

I think this was with the 75 cap in mind but with today 100o damage is nothing, and the accuracy was so dreadful they removed from the blue mage proc list instead of increasing it's accuracy in the first place.

a whm can never keep their 3 min haste on me fulltime. I also find it irritating when I randomly get added to a party with an inadequate smn throwing hastega every 12 minutes. you just can't rely on others anymore for fulltime haste.

Yaaaa when did Animating Wail every be considered "Lackluster" the spell is fantastic for keeping haste on yourself, I leave for a few months and I come back to this? Did I wake up in some kind of Twilight Zone!? O_O

He just didn't want it overwritten by hastes of lesser durations.

In fact, not only do I agree with this, but I would love for SE to fix the priority list for ALL blu spells. It's downright silly that our blu spells are overwritten by EVERY other spell, even those of lesser potency.

I can't help but think that someone must have taken a lot of time to code our spells, only for a sizable chunk to be made useless by laughable durations. They could simply take all of our 1 minute duration buffs and make them 3 minutes, and much would be solved...even if they were to double/triple the mp costs to go with it.

Obviously, it's not lackluster...just needs fixed. Please, read the reasoning.
