View Full Version : Campaign Battle Suggestions

I love campaign battle. I have earned nearly 1,000,000 allied notes. I have the following two suggestions I hope you may consider:

1: Registering for a union: Do NOT ask if one wants to register for a union simply go to the union select menu. Since there is an option to abort union selection there as well the additional prompt for cancelation is unnecessary, annoying, and frankly, dangerous! Very often it is very dangerous by the NPC and any delay in selecting options puts the player at great risk. Eliminating the extra, unnecessary prompt will streamline gameplay.

2: Allow skillups in Campaign. Abbyssea suffers from too much success and has drawn too many players away from other areas. If skillups were possible in Campaign it would draw people back into it and help redistribute players more evenly throughout the game.

I fully agree with both of these suggestions. I'd also like to add that I think the EXP reward should be raised to match the amounts now gained elsewhere in the game.

I totally agree with all of this... I have died countless of times because I was in 1 menu too many, and aggroed a Quadav or Orc mob... I do also wish that there was a better incentive in doing Campaign battles... I can't tell you how many times I fight and kill mobs only to have a ladybug wing or a cheap log as a reward... Not only that, but I've been in Campaign battles in where I spent hours whacking a building wall, with no mobs assaulting or anything, and once the battle eneded, I got very minimal exp and Allied Notes... So disappointing for all of that time spent...

i like the ideas from Misterclaw too and doing a lot Campaign too sometime i only play FFXI for campaign XD
i would like to add some other Ideas !

1. a lot people dont play Campaign anymore Abyssea is the new way to leech lowlvl jobs thats why 7 Campaign Credits arnt enough anymore people which hold a Medal of Altana should be able to keep spaming OP's as a reward for all the work to get the Final Medal

2. cant we get something like the Confrontation status while geting a Allied Tag ?
i get a lot aggro while resting or additional mobs aggro with a Campaign based mob this shouldn happen

3. a extra function which allow people to instant join a battle & union if you get in a battle area would be nice too i spend a lot hours only for geting the Allied tag because the NPC isn always close to me

4. is it just me or i'm wrong ?
the beastmen have Shadowlord as a Additional Support Army but where is Jeuno? sometime Windurst or Bastok geting pretty hard ownd and there is no help for them and from what i know the "Allied Force of Altana" isn limited to the 3 Nations San 'Oria, Bastok and Windurst !

5. i have a lot Allied Notes and almost each set which was or is still useable for me what should i do with them now ?
could we get more reward choices for them ? maybe ancient currency?

6. another problem is the Campaign "Funding" for no reason it seems like the hardest skill to upgrage for any town unless you had 3.000 people spamming OPs or doing campaign could SE maybe explain it with more details how to exactly increase the skill ?

7. sometime people ar Holding Campaign Mobs far away to make sure the get some decent points while other players ar waiting to join the next battle is there a way Campaign Mobs ar like Imps losing hate on them quickly and the run back to the Fortication ?

> or make sure everyone who does a Campaign Battle can Widescan Campaign Monster to save some time ?

> another idea would be give Campaign Mobs a rage time 10 min should be ok unless its a General...

I don't know about allowing skill ups in campaign battle, I think it would be nice but as a big Besieged fan (I'm on Siren) I fear this might make players stop doing Besieged since Campaign Battle takes much less to prepare and happens way more often.

One thing I'd like in Campaign Battle though is auto-reraise at the end of each CB (I said this in the other thread too). I think we all had those moments were campaign ended and NPCs warped away leaving us dead and lonely on the ground right?

Beseiged time is so spread out. Waiting anywhere from 1 hour to 10 hours for 1 fight. As for campaign mobs being held, I say if the mob is dragged 50 yalms from allied npc or the tower then they lose allied status and mob losses agro on them. Skill ups is a good idea, I used to not get tags and beat on the fortifications and get skill ups but once mobs invaded then i gotta run. Another thing is people that I see in my union hardly fought a mob and walk off with bronze piece or an item that is rare like the item to make iqira feet in mountains. Like for instance this pld I seen alot he gets tags helps kill 1 mob cast pro and shell on people til he runs outta mp, goes and hides in a corner and stays there. Comes back at end and wins most of the pool, mainly the items worth anything. This needs a definate fix.

i like the idea too thx for adding it :)

and SE should fix the xp/an reward for slapping the fortication for over 30 min and get almost nothing & probably geting skill ups again <3

Ironically no skillups in Campaign was probably done to keep people going to other places for the skillups. Now we have Abyssea where we can get both so no reason to go to Campaign at all except that it was fun.

Ya campaign was good when it first came out. They do need a slight exp boost and able to get skillups. IDK bout yall bout i wouldnt mind getn my hands on some noctrunus gear.

What I would like to see is more gear purchasable with notes, most people do campaign for the exp, but have nothing to do with the thousands of notes they get doing it. Alot of the gear obtainable is campaign specific, and very situational, it causes most people to not pay any mind to it.

I do not believe the exp gained from campaign doesn't need a boost, however it does need to be re-adjusted, the fortification nurf causes noone to do offensive campaign battles due to most of the time people zoning in to see a bunch of NPCs hitting a wall, most people see this and figure they want more then 17exp for sitting in a zone for an hour hitting a wall. instead of simply removing the nurf i suggest modifying it so that players receive an exp/notes bonus whenever a fortification is destroyed, so long as they were engaged upon such events. (for those who don't know, around about 50% , the fortification's HP returns to 100% and a point is removed from the number of fortifications that exist out of the total there can be) this means for players willing to stay for long battles, they can still earn somewhat decent levels of exp/notes. another thing is magic, due to the way the exp system for campaign works, it causes most DD casters such as blm and sch to avoid casting nukes and focus on mindlessly DDing a mob. an exp bonus for nukes cast, based on tier could be another nice improvement.

but make them take allied notes to purchase a key item for entrance.. maybe say 10K allied notes to do fiat lux

That would bring some people back to campaign ^^

and i haven't seen the roundel earring bcnm open in nearly 2 years lol >_<

Yah.. i don't think it would break campaign battle if they opened up the ops..

and making them take like 10K + notes to do people wouldn't be able to farm the ops w/o some serious campaign battle participation lol

well, they did actually tweak the xp part....you can get up to 9k per round of tags now. Some jobs can hit that after killing just a few mobs. Renew tags, kill some mobs, renew tags...rinse/repeat and get up towards 20k a battle now. It's all in taking advantage of the different factors that add to your xp/notes rewards and milking it right so that your time spent/rewards ratio is maximized each time you renew tags.

the could just remove the cap so you dont have to "detag" it and make some decent xp people can finally stop paying some RMT's for abyleechburn then (i guess?!)
