View Full Version : What to level next?

Blue Mage is now 95, and both sword and blue magic skill are capped. The only thing left to do for it are some accessories and the Isador sword (I do not have the effort for Almace. )
What should I level next?
I wanna be a badass dot-spamming Scholar, but I don't want to have to do all those stupid Staff trials.
I love Scythe weapons, but I hate heavy armor, so that rules out Dark Knight.
Pirates are badasses, but I know as a Corsair I would just buff, buff, sit and wait for TP, Wildfire, repeat.
Ninja might be fun, but I hate gearing for evasion and GOOD GOD their Empyrean armor is ugly.
Red Mage is useless in our current generation, and last time I tried to level it, every response was "Got anything better?" What kind of response is that for an exp party?
Hate Warrior and Samurai, don't want to be a White Mage, Black Mage and Summoner have the same problem as Scholar, there are too many Thieves as it is, Beastmaster bores me, Paladin's a heavy armor class and I don't really want to tank, my mule has leveled Bard already...
I think I'm out of jobs to level. >:

I think you are, unless you want to level PUP. :p

Pup's already leveled. Any of the ones I didn't list area already up there in levels.

why do you hate heavy armor? did you play to many other rpgs where heavy armor makes you run slower?

I just don't like how bulky the characters look with heavy armor. The ONE exception was Dragoon, and that was only for the nerdgasm of having a pet dragon.

Level an empyrean next
Probably takes less work than getting 5 jobs to 95

Warrior Monk or Samurai, since these will get you a guaranteed spot in basically any party for any event.

Monk's leveled, and I hate both Warrior and Samurai. And oh god Empyrean is not easy, don't ever say that lie. You have to deal with so many shit-bag elitists and have to wait eighty hours between each tier. No thank you.

Your wanting to know what job you should level and at same time you trash half the jobs that people worked hard to get (minus the abby leeches)?
Deadvinta

I didn't trash the jobs, I listed my reasons why I'm not jumping on them to level.
The only one I trashed was Red Mage, and in reality I just stated a fact.

Not sure why you made this thread - you've already leveled the jobs you like (or thought you would like), and refuse to level the rest for various reasons. What exactly do you want the rest of us to tell you then?

If you really don't like any of the other jobs, then why not just make the ones you like even better? I mean, for your BLU, and Isador is kind of easy to get... (And sad if you consider it "done" without one.) After that, continue to improve every job, or even get an Empy/Relic/Mythic (They aren't terrible to do; actually kind of fun if you do them with people you like). No sense in leveling jobs you really seem to hate.
*Edit: According to ffxiah, you have a ton of things you could be working on for your character :p

I think I'm out of jobs to level. >:Congratulations you've done everything in the game and it's time to graduate to another.
You basically put every job to off limits or already leveled so I don't know. Take up crafting. Making gil. Hunting NMs for self amusement. Help the allied nations win a fight. Go after GoV items. Take up HELM. Or make BLU better.
WoE/Empyrean weapons are nice but they should never ever be a deciding factor on leveling a job or not. And I haven't really geared with eva on nin for the longest time. Not because I lost faith in evasion, but because of the hassle of grabbing it on the go. It just becomes less important when you roll with +2 empyrean feet.

BLACK MAGE......!
What, BLMs don't use scythes? On Leviathan they do ._.
No but really, your hatred for tons of jobs sounds like you haven't actually played the game.
COR is all about buffing and waiting for TP to Wildfire? doinitrong
RDM is useless? Do new content then. Never hurts to have one for Logwatch.
Too many THFs? Can never have too much placebo hunter.

What else is a corsair going to do? DPS? Don't make me laugh. They have barely, if any, melee prowess, and who would want to waste ammo shooting between weaponskills. Corsair is good for spike damage and buffs, that's about it.
Red Mages are useless, everyone else can do what they can do better, forgoing Refresh II. White Mage can cure better, and spread haste around just as much, Scholar can land buffs to the whole party (besides haste) while the Red Mage sits there casting one at a time. Black Mages and Scholars both nuke better, and finally the only thing left is Paralyze II, Slow II, Gravity and Addle. Whoops, Bards got Addle, and people would rather have some of their unique buffs anyway. Paralyze and Slow will never land on any notorious monster that actually matters, and Gravity is a rare-situation or kiting spell that can be used by, guess what, Scholars with Red Mage subbed..
When Red Mages can have some justifiable reasons to use their swords, enspells, and Temper, then it might step back into the rays of the "useful" light.

You don't want to play a job that buffs others. You don't want to play a heavy DD class due to how the armour looks. You don't want to play nin because you might need evasion gear and you think Kannagi is ugly. You don't want to play smn, sch or blm because you don't want to do staff trials. Wait - you don't want to do weapon trials at all apparently. But either way, those are some p**s-poor excuses for not leveling a job.
You know what? Level drk. Ok so maybe you will have to equip some gear you don't like the look of. So what? Should that really stop you from leveling a job you might actually enjoy?
Deadvinta

I meant the ninja's AF3 gear is ugly, not the Kannagi. All those katanas look the same anyway, barring the Nagi. I'd be an ignorant person if I claimed any one of them looked better than the other.
And yes, how armor looks is definitely a good justification for not playing a job. I have to look at the armor all day, I might as well look at something that makes me happy. And I get that in BLU, PUP, DNC, MNK and RNG.

You realize you can make an idle gear macro and/or a town gear macro, and wear whatever you think looks nice when not engaged in battle?

You have absolutely no idea how brokenly OP COR can be in high level content (eg, Voidwatch). But that's fine. We don't need more halfasses running around. There are plenty of those on every server as is. Every time I see a light staff and a trump gun, a kitten is eaten by a crocodile.
If you feel like spending 1 mil+/week to do A-tier damage (A+ on high defense/high eva/high level monsters), give A-tier buffs (making all the other A-tiers do A+ tier damage), and be a bloody pirate, look at Corsair. If you can't afford it, don't level it.
Ps - My COR has a 2-hit in Voidwatch. I don't wait for jack.

work on one job and become great at it. Dont level it just to level. You cant have 30 million jobs and honestly say your great at them.
