Some ideas on a new system related to the use of merit points. I personally love to acquire merit points and spend it on my character to enhance and upgrade his skills and abilities. My opinion – and feel free to comment – would be to introduce a new system of meriting based solely upon the new goal of reaching the level of 99. It would give players something new and exciting to look forward to, use up stored merits not being used so experience will not just go to waste, and become a long term beneficial goal.

New System: “Beyond the Limits.” (Real Name TBD)

This system will revolve specifically on the advancement of job-specific statuses and will be compatible to use with merit points. Considering the upgrade from 20 to 30 maximum merit points going to be implemented and the heightened cap to level 99, this system generally should be more difficult, yet still beneficial compared to the traditional merit point system attainable at level 75. The enhanced abilities and statuses attained should be slightly more difficult to achieve. Overall, it should allow players more customizable options for the job(s) of their choosing.

The prerequisite to achieve this, of course, will be to successfully complete all level breaking quests and achieve the new height of level 99. This will unlock yet another quest that players must complete in order to achieve the Key Item allowing access to the menu: “Beyond the Limits”. The quest can be completed by successfully handing in 20 merit points at once to the respective NPC. This quest will only need to be completed once. The new system will be similar to the merit point menu, but only show the options for jobs. Extras such as "Combat Skills" and "Others" will not be present. Once clicking on a respective job that has been leveled to 99, the menu of new attributes that can be unlocked will be able to be seen. Attributes activated under the said category will only be active while the players main job is set to the respective job. (ex. Thief category attributes will only be active while main job is set to Thief).

The Rundown of the system: “Beyond the Limits.”

In order to progress through the hierarchy, a player must unlock all attributes in a tier in order to progress onto the next set tier of attributes (ex. A player cannot activate anything in Tier 2 without first completing all unlockables in Tier 1.)

Merit Points = MP
Tier 1 = *

Tier 3 = ***
Tier 4 = (+)
Tier 5 = (++)
Tier 6 = (+++)
