View Full Version : New Job Trait for Ninjas: Wield only one katana

Ninjas with one katana have a really cool stance, really cool attack animation. You see it in game for perhaps one hour between level 1-10 (or a few minutes, with how fast you can exp now). You're now gimping yourself if you don't stick on another weapon.
That's a shame.

It'd be cool if they got an alternative to dual wielding that enhanced their other aspects. With one hand free it's believable that it would enhance the use of throwing weapons and casting ninjutsu.

say, a stance you learn at level 10.

"Kasumi" (borrowing from the tradition of Hasso and Seigan in using kenjutsu stance names)
You must be wielding only one weapon to gain the effects of this stance.

While in this stance you gain +10 ranged and magic accuracy, and your Dual Wield delay effect is applied to throwing weapons.


(... also give blue mage a B+ throwing skill so they could benefit from this heh.)

Some refinements and a bunch of other ideas to stick in:


Level 10 stance "Kasumi":
Wield only one katana, leaving your other hand free for quick throwing and fast drawing.
While in this stance you gain +10 ranged and magic accuracy, and your Dual Wield delay effect is applied to throwing weapons.
*like how Hasso boosts samurai's accuracy and strength

Level 20 ability: Shuriken Jutsu
activated ability only usable when in Kasumi stance: your next katana weapon skill will be delivered with a ranged attack.
*the laziest way to add weaponskills to thrown weapons is to just use existing animations lol

Level 30 job trait: Kage Shuriken
Passive ability only that only procs when in Kasumi stance, X% chance on a missed throwing attack that the ninja throws immediately again with increased accuracy, this extra attack does not consume ammo.
*The imagery is that the missed attack is actually a shadow bluff for the following shot. A parallel to zanshin in ways.

Level 50 ability: Imbue
activated ability only usable when in Kasumi stance, the next offensive ninjutsu you use is cast and 'stored' into your next ranged attack, which has greatly enhanced magic accuracy. Any magic accuracy boost you have is applied as a ranged accuracy boost to the shot (and any ranged acc bonus applies as a magic acc boost for the spell effect). If an elemental ninjutsu is used the weapon does the corresponding elemental damage.
*You now have burning shuriken, lightning shuriken, blinding shuriken, paralyzing shuriken, etc.!
