For those of you that don't know what this quest is: (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Uninvited_Guests)
It's a BCNM that has a difficulty based on how many people are participating.
There's more to it than that, but this is what I'd like to focus on. Not the BCNM part necessarily, but just more new content that gives you a good challenge if you want to go in and try it solo, but if you want to duo it, it's a little harder, and so on, allowing for up to full parties, or even alliances or multiple alliances, with the difficulty increasing all the while.

The reason for my suggestion is that there are different players out there. Some like the satisfaction of completing a mission/task solo, while others have a small linkshell and struggle to get the numbers together for the harder events, like Voidwatch where if you don't have a large linkshell you can find yourself shouting for a couple of hours just to get enough people. And when you do, you find some of them don't actually have the prerequisites done, or are just terrible players in general and a waste of a party slot.
Then there are the large linkshells that are screaming out for more content that they can take their LS into as a whole without having to cover all of the proc jobs, yet also want that content to be made difficult enough so that they don't get bored.

No doubt there will be pros and cons to content like this so please everyone, post your thoughts.

I have never done this BCNM but I always wandered why they never did events based on how many people were doing it.

I support this. I actually did Uninvited Guest today solo out of sheer randomness and was surprised that there was only one mammoth instead of three (which I was use to when with a party).

More members means increased difficulty/more enemies translates into more items/chance to get something rare on success.

Yeah I was thinking kind of along the lines of the individual chests VW/WoE style, but with the obvious addition to add any spoils that you don't want to the pool. Removes the ability for people to 'ninja lot' your hard-earned items, but also means the same person doesn't constantly get the same r/e item when they can't use it and everyone else that could use it gets rubbish.

I see people AFKing just to screw other people up.

I see people AFKing just to screw other people up.

They would have done that anyway.

I like this idea, and I definitely like the idea of more members/harder fight/bigger rewards at the end. I enjoy soloing myself, so having a chance at something without being required to take a large group, but don't mind if others who have large groups get it before me.

The boat left 5 minutes ago... and you missed it.

The ENTIRE point in the idea of content adjusting to the number of participants is that you AND YOUR FRIENDS/LINKSHELL MEMBERS regardless of how large or small your community is, can go along and do the same content WITHOUT REQUIRING PICK_UP PARTIES.

So, if your friends/linkshell members are AFKing on you....

This is the FFXI community you're talking about.

All people will do is bring the lowman 'win' group to the fight, and that's it. Is how Uninvited Guests was always done also, typically as 2 SMN.

That's how MOST people choose to do it. And there would no doubt be an ideal solution like say 6 wars each using sekkanoki and 2x FC each will kill all mobs that they face. But either way, the choice is there to play with as many or as few other people as you like in an event where yuo can control who fights alongside you. Unlike in WoE where 1 idiot always joins a party with a group of others and then agros every mob in the zone... so they then spend the next 15 mins rerarising while the mobs run for other pt members and never catching on that they all have to stay dead to stop being attacked.

I like the idea at least, and I hope it gets implemented.
