View Full Version : Why only 30?

I have a question I paused over other threads and I did not see anyone ask this so I am going to;

Why only 30 merit points? :confused:

This is why I wonder: Currently it takes up to 72 merit points to max out the attribute merits, and by increasing those I imagine it will take more then 100 merit points to full merit out. I know that many players don't stay in a party for hours on end to max everything out but some crazy ones (like myself) do. :)

So if any of the Dev team would like to answer that would be awesome.

I just think it would be nice to be able to store enough merits to completely change any one category I chose.

The increase to 30 isn't because we get more upgrades to generic merits to spend it on.. it's because we probably need 20-30 limit points to unlock lvl 99 and Group 3 merits.

20 or 30 is irrelevant for exp purposes, since you'd fill it up in a single xp session anyway.

I'm going to lol when this update happens, and the NPC says, "You need 30 merits to complete this limit break quest, kupo!"

I only hit 20 merit points once. 30 will be a nice bump.

I've been 20.9/20 and 999 on my 3 jobs for months. Chances are, I'll be 30.9/30 again within a month of release. @.@

Is it fun? Does it add anything to the game? Does it help to make the game fair? Does the number 30 hold any significance whatsoever? Do you have any thoughts that require more than 10 words to convey? Is it really that hard to spell check 1 sentence? Is having a high post count really the defining achievement of your FFXI career? Are you testing some sort of black hat SEO blog post spinning software? or are you really just so bored that you have to post a one liner in every thread?

The honest answer is that its just annoying. If they want it to take longer to get merits, they can just award less xp. They don't have to add annoying crap to the game.

"Oh hey, we made it super easy to get merits, but we balanced it by making it depend on lights that you lose if you attempt to use them." - LAME.

This trend of making every single thing that they enhance have an "equal" negative effect attached to it for "balance" is really played out.

All of that is irrelevant though, because the whole reason you popped in here was to say "Shut up. You guys are just lazy.", which doesn't deserve any more of a response than it already received in the first post.

Also, please note that you still haven't formulated a 2 sentence post, or answered any of the quite valid questions about your motives in posting here, or answered any of the (again valid) questions as to what exactly a 30 merit limit achieves.

They're weren't questions worth answering, nor were they relevant to anything here. Most were not valid, just an sad attempt to insult and/or pick a fight with me. Just be thankful you get 30 instead of 10.
