Why cant we post on these forms if our 11 account is canceled for a short time? I recently had mine down for two weeks, and it wouldn't let me post in here at all. Pol that have to leave for a short time still have some relevance here. I can also understand maybe a time limit. If a persons account is deactivated for to long, then they cant post. Simply to avoid spammers and whatnot. But a short time should still be allowed.

Because people who are not paying for their accounts might have good reasons and SE doesn't want to hear them?

Edit: I really don't want to knock SE, even by opening the forums up shows they are trying. I just wonder about all the people who transferred their accounts only to find that they could no longer pay and they can no longer post here to say anything about it.

You can't post when your account is not active, because you can't give an informed opinion about game topics when you aren't and haven't actually been playing it.

It prevents every random person who created an account but hasn't played in years from posting trolling nonsense (which happened a lot on the FFXIV boards until those players got locked out from game inactivity)

If those people really want to leave feedback, the community team does still check all the various community sites. They can post there.

There are people who haven't played FFXIV for years?

For a year or more, yes.The "years" was more directed at this board.
There were a LOT of people posting on the FFXIV forum that hadn't played since the original beta test ended or hadn't played for at least several months, commenting on threads without any actual knowledge of the subject or with the intent to troll by posting topics like "FFXIV sucks!" (with no content or explanation of how it could be made less sucky). As soon as the "cant post if you haven't played the game in 30 days" rule was put in, the vast majority of those kind of threads and posters disappeared.

I do agree with that. And fully understand that point. Thats why i suggested a time limit or something. Like maybe if the account was active within the last month or two, posting would still go threw, but if it was deactivated longer then that they wouldn't.

Using me as an example, Iv been playing the last 5 years, and my account was deactivated for 2 weeks in total. I didn't lose touch with the games mechanics THAT quickly.

Because FFXI changes so much every patch. /sarcasm

Every time I log into XIV, I have to learn how to play it all over again. The patches are extreme, and actually affect gameplay rather than just content.

Only paying subscribers voices should be heard! LOL

SE choice I guess that only active subscribers to a game can post. Which I think is pretty dumb because on 11 and 14 we did pay money to buy the game game so therefore we should still get to post.

Yeah, that's exactly right.

You'd think non-subscribers would offer constructive criticism about how to make the game such that they'd be interested in returning. But that doesn't end up happening. Mostly the people who haven't played and don't know what they're talking about just trollololol the paying customers and then it just becomes a fanboy vs hater battle instead of there being intelligent discussion.

You laugh now, but obviously you didn't pay any attention to the FFXIV boards, where this happened on a regular basis from the day they opened til the day non-players were shut out.

Besides, all they had to do was actually play the game for a day and then they could post again- it makes it so that if you care enough to post, then you care enough to play.

Only in FF14 everyone was a paying customer because they paid 50 or 80 to buy the game. Since they have yet to change any type of fee for it.

Until they start charging for it, feel free to use the phrase 'active customer" if it makes you happier.

It's not like they ever tell us what we want to hear though. We're completely ignored on the test server forums, and 90% of the time a rep replies in the English side of the forum, it's from stuff asked from the JP playerbase that gets translated and squeezed into a relevant thread on our end.

And don't get me started on the excuses regarding abysmal drop-rates in the current end-game events that they pretend is not a problem as far as maintaining player subscription rates are at.

If they won't listen to the paying, then it doesn't matter if the unsubscribed cannot post.

I feel sorry for those in the FR/GR communities that get left out even further.

DE is the appropriate abbriviation for german- Anyway, the german community is only really ignored because what community there is isn't really posting here. I've actually seen a fair bit of french board activity.

Most of the french/german players I've met speak English and actually prefer the English version because the localization is better (which is honestly a shame, but the good news is I've seen a few french posts reporting localization errors and getting responses from the FR localization team- perhaps if more of them report these than at least that can be addressed- but since many of these players use the english localization, they may or may not be aware of specific errors in the FR/DE text.)

Then there are plenty of community sites they can post on.

This forum wasn't intended to replace or kill any other community forum or site.

Whooosh....

That's the whole point. If you aren't actively playing, you can't post. That's all there is to it. SE is not the first to have forums for their games that can only be accessed by paying customers, and it won't be the last.

As I said. Post on another forum if you can't post here. We have several active communities willing to discuss anything with you. See below for one. See FFXIAH for another. See BlueGartr for another. See Zam for another. Once you've subscribed again, welcome back.

Posting on here doesn't exactly help if you're trying to post here in the English forums either.
