View Full Version : Beaucedine Glacier: Shortcuts?

Hi, I'm wondering if anybody else feels it's a bit too time consuming to get across Beaucedine to Feiyin or any of the adjacent zones. I know most of the zones in the game take time to walk across, but I feel Beaucedine Glacier is too redundant with it's maze like features (i'm not even gonna mention Attowah.)

If possible can we have shortcuts added to Beaucedine, maybe acquired from a quest?

Only if we can have shortcuts across every other zone in the game.

I suppose it might have been interesting though, if say, the towers of pso'xja were connected to eachother, and you could use these to get around.

Shortcuts technically exist in the past via holes that drop to lower. Not to intentionally trying to come off mean but really, deal with it.

We've already been showered with easy transportation. Suck it up and deal with some zones that still requires leg work.

Let's just make or Moogle teleport us to the exact <pos> in the exact zone we want to from our Moghouse.

It gets very dull having to walk the same zig-zag route every time I have to walk in Beaucedine. And sure the abyssea maws, teleport-vazhl, and teleporting to the conquest flag are quick ways to access Fei'Yin. I could just deal with it, but instead come here and ask for your opinion and ideas on this matter. Will adding a shortcut really make this game easier? Am I asking for too much? In any case, thanks for your time.

Shortcuts to minimize time sink needed to reach certain areas are sorely needed. They seems to realize this and did put many of them in new content, but yeah I agree with you, they need to put MORE of this. It's fun the first time you do it. It is not fun having to walk there every single time when you try to do BCNM. Blame it on the old ways - these need to go away forever and replace with fast shortcuts. Abyssea fluxes are perfect example on how to solve problems like this. You still have to walk it, but not that far.

Well, if they added Chocobo access to this zone there wouldn't be that much of an issue.

SE has added shortcuts in the past by various means. The last I suppose was with WotG release where you could do the mini quest sort of deal with the Lyco mandy cutscene in the past and in the present could use a flower to port up/down certain spots. There's like three of them total I think. The glacier would have been a great place for it, too. It might not be too late to add one there to cut the run time to Fei'Yin in half, like the NE corner of I-7. But the thing about the teleport mandy business is all three involve areas where you can never get through by normal means and must enter a different area to get there or require help. Soooo it probably means we won't be getting a mandy teleport option in glacier. Sprinter shoes to the rescue. Or more holes. I remember that hole in [S]. I was like, son of a bitch I miss that all these years in present. Then I found out it's not in present. And I cried myself to sleep that night.

They should just add Confluxes to every zone for all of you kids who are addicted to Abyssea.

While i agree, the ease of transport today is desegined to be much easier, Beaudicine is one area of avoided since i first started this game because of how annoying it was to traverse.

I also doubt they would add anyhting to change that. So the only thing i could think of that might work would be to change the location of Beaudicins Op. That never did make sence to me. Its right in the middle, near nothing. Most ppl are only in beaudince for three things. Dyna, Fei yin, goign to xarcabard. (yes theirs other uses, but not as often). Xarcabard already has an op, and a tele crystal. (and now a maw).
So if it were to change for transportation sake, i would suggest moving the OP closer to feiyin. But not any major changes.

Just add some snowslides that would be located in a strait path from top level to the bottom, allowing fast slides from the OT npc location. weeeeeee i`m sliding....

One-way paths to get there faster is also a good idea. WHere we can and cannot drop down in this game seems very inconsistent. I'm sure there are other areas in the game where we are able to fall down about the same distance as the cliffs and such in beaucedine, so I don't see why it should be problematic to make drop-down spots like that there too.

Choco from Jeuno > lycopodeum, get off and go up the cliff > zone into beaucedine > run to fei yin with only the 1 ramp leading down to fei'yin itself. It's not brilliant, but it can alleviate the boredom of zig-zagging^^

Don't you have to do the mini quest in the past first?

The quest doesn't require you to do anything except talk to each Lycopodium for a very short cutscene to unlock a given warp, and then have flowers with you after that to use it.

Adding chocobo rentals near the conquest flag sound like a grand idea, maybe even add them to every conquest flag, didn't think of that. Snowslides sounds like fun and easy as well.
I had some time to look at the rest of the forum, and It looks like any talk of changing any part of the game is look down upon by some people. I'm sorry if my thoughts displeases you, but there are some aspects of this game that need to be revised. I also like to point out that I don't want to turn FFXI to be abyssea-like, and adding quicker modes of transportation won't make the content any easier.

10) Chocobo/Chocobo Whistles
11) Flee/Mazurka/Garuda/Blitz/Jig

We do NOT need easier transport

Actually, what they really need to do is add WotG maws to both Beaucedine and Xarcabard already.

We're told that VNMs only appear in areas with Cavernous Maws. Maws were then added to the Crag areas, leaving the Northlands the only areas that have VNMs but no maws.

It's either that or fix Assai Nybaem's dialog.
