What new Jug Pets would you like to see 91-99?
Personally, after using small size, cute looking jug pets from levels 23 to 90, I'd like to see larger, more exotic mob types for after the next level cap increase.
Also, what would the epic level 99 Jug Pet be?
Bonus points for cool names!
I'm going with Scorpions, myself.

Rocs - Treacherous Bill
Ruszors - Terrifying Sue
Gargouilles - Soulstealer Jack
Tauri - Hitman Joe
That's all I could come up with. Even though the mobs aren't charmable, I still thought it would be cool to have them as jug pets. A guy can dream.
*lvl99 epic jug to me would be a Caturae, Behemoth, Hydra, Khimaira or Vampyr.

Any avian. been 8 years?
Preferably a greater bat. Good base damage, high double attack rate, low delay, self healing drain move, and if they're nice enough to make it a CoP onward bat, we'll get an evasion down move for better hit rate, defense down for better damage, and accuracy down in case you need to evade.

Yeah we are missing a bird type. For us to be be masters if the animal eco system why are they denying us every type (birds) glad we got an amorph but hes kinda meh.....also why so many lizards is one of the DEVS a reptile freak?

some kind of bird mob
Manticore
Cockatrice
Scorpion
single bat
orobon
I've always toyed with the idea of having like a 6 hour ability that allows us to charm mobs that we currently cant charm. i.e. Corse, Manticore, Roc, etc
they need to give us something new instead of new versions of old jugs

I would like to see something fun and unexpected. Maybe a pet dragon. Although if we have a full sized dragon, I guess the DRGs wouldn't be too happy. I agree a bird type would be nice as well. I would actually choose a Hippogryph if their enfeebles arn't nerfed. And as unlikely as those two would be, my third choice would probably be 0% and that would be a pet moogle. They have already been given attacks in the game, such as Flower Pot, Mog Bomb, Washtub, etc., so they already have attacks programed in.
As far as names are concerned:
Dragon: DrakeTheGreat
Hippogryph: TerribleTal
Moogle: MogKnight
And since this is for fun, lets make the materials to make the jugs cheap and common, so that a dozen of the jugs shouldn't exceed 10,000 gil.

No thanks. I leveled my cooking for the purpose of supporting my bst, and selling jugs and pet supplies is a good money maker for me.
hmmm a dragon would be really cool. I would opt for a Puk. They are already charmable, and very cool. It would outstrip Yuly for wind resistance though :P.
Maybe a puk would be both avian and dragon? Would definitely be a cool pet.
And I'm still in love w/ the idea of a hecteyes. Even if the casting stays totally random, They are so much fun to use. I wanna go back and kill hakutaku again just to toy w/ nuking pets a bit.

I don't really care of the type of jugs they provide as long as we get some half way decent "Ready" moves with them. I like Dipper even though she hits like a feather and has very nice evasion, but her moves are pretty limited. A lot of the newer jugs have more AoE skills then really good LoS or battletarget attacks.
Some of the NM I solo now a days that I have to keep using stun on over and over to avoid high dmg I use the eft with, when the eft gets it down to around 1-2% I leave it and throw out Yuly for some TH loving care.

I want a slime. They are one of the best charmable mobs in game, because they have high physical def, and high attack. Any camp where I got to use them while leveling up, was nothing but a pure joy to level in.

We need a new Crab! We only Have poor CC and CrabFam which are weaksauce now.
Krakens, a Colibri or a crow
Spiders
Tribats
Dermites
a New Antlion
A Sappling maybe? c'mon SE No more Mandies. >:D

I find these name suggestions amusing.
Mandies are actually pretty good if you use them as such, I slapped 2x regen atma on the lycopodium, and Gnarled horn and had the little onion man tank Chasmic hornet.
I, however, would like to see a Slime jugpet. you can even nerf his (its) attack for sake of balance.
give him a Clot counterpart too.
and finally, I would love to see a hecteyes jugpet, with more control than usual over spells (allowing us to use Firaga/Flare/Fire etc)

I think a bird and a fish (been awhile since we had a decent aquan), wouldn't mind seeing a new beetle too.
Pugil-LunkerLarry (with a TP move to inflict terror)
Bird (colibri)-PollyWallnuts (and yes, FeatherTickle, SnatchMorsel and spell reflection ARE in the Ready abilities)
Beetle-ShermanSaladin (with a Plague ability), if not a beetle give us a Gnat or a chigoe.

I'd like to see a few new broths--
-Bat would be nice, evasion down and blood drain move
-Pugil would be too, more evasion down and slow move (Intimidate)
-Opo-opo specially if it gets the curaga like the rabbit, but we have alot of Beast type mobs. Need a new Aquan-type and a bird type
- Slime/Hecteyes just cause everyone wants a one, though it would be cool to have pet cast magic on mobs
If BST could charm Abyssea mobs that would be very nice as well.

I'd be happy with the single bat jug pet, it'd give us a bird type with decent TP moves. But mostly, i'd just like to have our jugs with the ability to proc !!'s in aby. We're kinda screwed on soloing the NM's since we have almost no proc options.

I thought it would be cool to make the final jug a chocobo(maybe even allow you to make it your own personal one if you've raised one) with a bunch of FFT chocobo attacks for TP stuff. It'd give us our long-lost avian jug, too. SE probably wouldn't be very keen to roll out a new mob AI/TP moves to go with it just for that, though.
Failing that, I'd like to see slime and chigoe jugs I suppose. I'd love to see a full BST alliance with chigoe pets hopping about.

I would definitely love to see the following jugs added, following the rule "must be charm-able":
New Crab - Because I reminisce about the good 'ol days
New Tiger - Using tiger jugs in the 50's and 60's was so much win, they would own IT mobs, and were the only reason I was able to burn my bst to 75 in 2 weeks in parties.
New Mandragora - (pink colored!!!) Counter, makes the most epic taunting noise when it dodges that sounds suspiciously like "Missed me!" <3
Puk - (complete with Ill Wind) Just looks cool to drag around?
Dhalmel - They make funny noises when they get hit?
Hecteye - One of the most powerful paralyze effects in the game, casts black magic, amorph, what's not to love?
Bat - Single or Triple, I don't care. Needs moar BIRD jugs
Clot - Passive damage reduction that would stack nicely with job trait/Empyrean bonus, great TP moves, looks cooler than slime?
Opo - Great tp moves, strong self heals
Bee - Self heals, funny noises

as Chocobits was saying "Must be charma-able"
Scorpion
Kraken
Clot (glad you mention that one, completely forgot about those)
Bird type (definately need ones of these, lacking on the arian side of the Beast Chart)
I don't think thats too much to ask. They are all charmable and standard monster attacks would be fine too. Also, having a more variety of job type would be great too instead of the majority of them being WAR. Dipper Yuly beiing THF was a good addition and seeing another PLD type (poor Carrie) would be great too.

http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/4500-Personal-Beast-Pet!-%28Give-it-a-Read!-You-might-like-it%29
(Shameless post).
However, I know it has to be charmable, as thats the current pattern. Knowing they'd Nerf a Slime pet because of its natural resistance... I'd have to say...
1) Tiger (Smilodon please!)
2) Scorpion (Gold Model)
3) Another Antlion (Black Model)
4) Any Bird.
Thats my wish list.
Tsukino_Kaji
07-10-2011, 01:45 PM
And give us a freakin' red fly! >.<
The old ones are useless.
I didn't think much of a Scorpion pet when I saw previous threads like this... but I was killing vermin for magian trials and fought the scorps on abyssea tahrongi a bit.... WOW Scorpion would be an AWESOME DD pet. That would be Fantastic!
Otherwise.... my list is:
Large Bat
Hecteyes
Scorpion
Carrie 2.0
I wouldn't mind another DRK type. Frankly the job traits for a DRK are really fabulous for a dd pet. I didn't get much chance to use LDL really before the level cap increased (it was out of my budget at the time). I knew it was a good dd pet and I used it a abit, but after the more thorough testing I"ve done... really you get the ACC bonus that diremite have and add the attack bonus traits of a DRK and it makes a HUGE difference for a pet. I would like to get another pld and drk pet, cuz I like having different pet job options as well.

Diremite- Strawberry Shortcake
I am bad with names but I haven't played with diremites in a long time. I miss them, they fight stupidly and offensively, much like myself. "I'm just a lunatic with lethal combat skills" he says every-time I summon him
I think our last diremite jug was around lv60, but I am out of the loop so if I am wrong and we have a higher lvl version than I vote for Stinky Pete Kraken or a ruthless opo-opo ofc
Edit: oh yeah and I think our lv99 Jugs should be something that we ourselves drink and become half-beast/ half-man. I should state now though that my ideas are generally highly unpopular :p

Like an earlier poster said, what's so bad about giving us a bird to fight with?
Bat Trio - BruceWayne
lol...
I'm also thinking about the JOBS of the pets they give us.... We have MNK, THF, WAR...
how about a BLM like a Hecteye or a Pudding? F'k it and just name him Hector or PuddingPop respectively
How about a WHM or RDM like a Pixie? F'k it... name it TinkerBell
How about a BST!! Or BRD!! A pet with Charm and/or party Buffs would make BST more beneficial in pt situations.
Oooh... a Ghost pet would rock!!

Watchful Wade
(Hecteyes) Lv.91
Black Mage/(?)Warrior
Unique JugPet that allows the expending of "Ready" charges to instead cast Elemental Magic. TP will increase either the Accuracy of Potency on the spell used. Still working out the bugs but this is my presentation of an idea to make a Hecteyes JugPet work.
1-Charge : Stone III, Quake, Water III, Flood, Aero III, Tornado, Fire III, Flare, Blizzard III, Freeze, Thunder III, and Burst.
2-Charges : Stone IV, Stonega III, Water IV, Waterga III, Aero IV, Aeroga III, Fire IV, Firaga III, Blizzard IV, Blizzaga III, Thunder IV, and Thundaga III.
3-Charges : Stone V, Water V, Aero V, Fire V, Blizzard V, and Thunder V.
Watchful Wade will have access to either Quick Magic or will have at the very least a "Interruption rate down" of atleast 60%. Like I mentioned earlier, still working the bugs out so any additional thoughts are greatly appreciated.
I will be working on more ideas for new Jug Pets and post them as they come to mind. Sorry in advance if anyone has mentioned an idea similare to this in an earlier post.
Following my Hecteyes idea, someone mentioned in an earlier post that they'd like to see an Opo-opo, and another post wanting to see more variaty of Jobs for JugPets. I have though of another way to create a caster-type JugPet. This time will be introducing it as an Opo-opo. Unsure of a decent name for the time being, but feel free to throw some ideas in and I will later edit it to add the name.

Magic Spells:

Only uses if it does not already have the effect on.
-Shellra IV

-Curaga IV
Only if itself or a party member is 70% HP or lower.
-Cure V
Only if itself or a party member is 70% HP or lower.
-Banish III
Primary spell of choice when itself and party members
are above 76% HP.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Abilities:
1-Charge:
Vicious Claw- Heavy damage, single-target.
Blank Gaze- Single-target Dispel, gaze-attack.
2-Charges:
Claw Storm- Single-target attack, additional effect: poison.
Stone Throw- Single-target ranged attack, additional effect: paralysis.
3-Charges:
Magic Fruit- Area of effect Cure.
Spinning Claw- 15' Area of effect, physical damage.

Once again, feel free to comment or add any ideas if you feel something should be changed. I will then edit the post and add the following changes.

3-4k dmg and reduce its HP to 1%.
new pets are meanlingless if they cant smack a mob hard enough to make ppl /shocked.
lulu does well with footkick... but only if the mob is flimsy.
tougher mobs barely take 200-400

I like the idea of pets that emulate jobs, but PUPs would throw a b**chfit. I -am- a career PUP and the idea kind of offends me, admittedly -- purely because the automaton is so unreliable and beast having a more powerful and reliable version of an automaton that will likely be considerably more durable is a slap in PUP's already bruised face.
Meanwhile... I'd like to see pets that haven't been used already. Buffalo, Gnolls... etc.

Hecataeye jug pet would be a nice change since they'll cast spells when under 90% tp so that'll help bst out soloing when call a hecataeye jug pet and when the pet doesn't have tp ready for weaponskill cause i would love to see a hecataeye cast freeze on a crab and that isn't a charmed pet so no risk of de-charming and casting it on the beastmaster ^^

FearsomeFadnog
Lvl. 99
THF/WAR
Abilities
Zephyr Mantle - 2 charges - Blink with 4 shadows
Wind Shear - 1 charge - AoE damage and knockback
Obfuscate - 3 charges - AoE Flash
Cross Wind - 1 charge - Wind cone attack and knockback. Damage based on HP
III Wind - 2 charges - AoE wind damage and dispel
White Wind - 3 charges - AoE heal. Healing amount based on HP
Unique Traits
Absorb Wind Element - Wind damage heals pet.
Auto-Regain - Regen TP on Windsday
Summary
The puk would be similar to DipperYuly in that it is evasive and otherwise fairly fragile. This pet will bring a few new things to the table; it has an AoE flash to help its evasion, a blink which i don't think any of our pets have yet, and wind based nukes that DipperYuly lacks. The pet is also a dragon mob, which to my knowledge is the only charmable dragon, of which we don't a jug for. Seeing as it looks fairly strong I can probably see us getting it as one of our last jugs.

In order of preference...A monkey (Warrior), a scorpion (Warrior, Scolopendrid), and a puk (Thief). Not inventive or original suggestions, but those three families produce some amazing monsters.
Plus, they could take over perfectly for our current rabbit, sheep, and lady bug if they are about to hit their level cap. Nursery Nazuna already caps out, so I'm less than confident the other two will hold out until 99.
The monkey's Magic Fruit could be AoE similar to Wild Carrot, Sharp Strike is basically a better version of a Sheep's Berserk, and pretty much any Thief-type can apply Treasure Hunter so it might as well be a monster with evasion-oriented abilities.
I would name the monkey "Furious Georgina" or something equally lame. I would name the scorpion "Creepy Carl", in honor of a mentally unbalanced guy I knew in high school. I would name the puk "Fluttering Fritz" because I want it doomed to remember that it's past as a fly on the wall of an imperial testing ground. Although I think the flies in Vana'diel are the size of basketballs, so he might be proud of his history.

need a Gorger pet. have a 3 charge "ready" that spits out babies and wipes pet and player TP. Or a second pet (maybe those personal pets ppl been asking for) that mimics your own actions. like a NPC only fights what you fight, and costs TP per tic to remain out. so you have to be meleeing to maintain its perpetuation. 1 Man Army GO!

I've got my fingers crossed for a Scorpion Jug. The amount of devastation a properly geared BST could mete out with Death Scissors is awe inspiring. It'd be a 3 charge ability, of course, but with proper merits and gear, I think you could probably reduce it to about 1:30. It's Sharp Spike is 50% attack bonus for FOUR minutes, with no repercussions, in which time, you could spam a few more atma boosted death scissors. It's the Chuck Norris of jug pets. It's also got some status ailment contributions, Bind and paralyze, and a Few AoEs which can be useful for clearning out hordes of Too Weak mobs. Call it Carnage-Cleaver Cleavland
A Dhalmel would be a fantastic contributor to small groups. Sonic Wave is (if I remember right) about a 50% defense down attack. For small groups that aren't quite rampaging through 5 IT mobs a minute with 18 members, -50% defense would certainly help a smaller group increase their kill count. Also, lets not forget how annoying healing breeze was in the long lost bibiki bay parties. Now it can be a life savor, rather than a chain killer. Berserk and Stopping can contribue some decent damage as well. It's name would be Papaka-Princess Penny
I really think SE NEEDS a new jug pet that has a unique skin, like Courier Carrie and her baskets, but we've seen all emoted putting gill in a courier carrie's basket before. SE could give us some good aesthetics, in the versatile Opo-Opo. Give it a little suit, and a hat... Maybe a cup. Whatever. lol Aside from the fact that it could be dressed up to give us something fun to look at, Opo-Opos are well rounded mobs, that can inflict damage AND a status ailment with a plethora of attacks. To put the icing on the cake, Vicious Claw is a pretty.. well.. vicious damaging ability. It doesn't contend with Death Scissors, but it's gets the job done. I'd also bet that since SE made Lulush's Wild Carrot an AoE cure, Opo's Magic Fruit would be as well. Um... Change-Beger Charlie?
My other idea for a unique appearance monster would be a Cactuar, but one that has Cactrot Rapido's fighting animations. He's my Pankration monster and unlike other HNMs, he retained his unique battle animations. If you've ever seen them, you know what I mean. He does special round house kicks, somersault kicks, spinning back hands, and has no walk animation: Only run and Run Faster. It's hilarious. 1000 needles would certainly work over high end NMs too. If SE wanted to be awesome, they could give him 1500~2000 needles. lol
Lastly, There have been talks of SE adding single use jugs... no thanks. Even if they require familiar to utilize a mob we normally wouldn't use for a single devastating attack... just no. If SE want's to do something amazing with our 2 hour, like Odin and Alex for smn, I think they should give us a jug or two that BST can RIDE, like the Mamool Ja on the Wivre, for 30 minutes (the duration of familiar's enhancement). In that time, the stats of preferably an HNM type mob like a Behemoth, Wyrm, Adamantoise, are added to the characters, hp, mp, str ect... and the character rides the mob like a chocobo. While in effect, all of your abilities are replaced by it's abilities/magic/weapon skills, are replaced by it's abilities. (including fast or slow movement speed from behemoth and adamantoise)

I've got my fingers crossed for a Scorpion Jug. The amount of devastation a properly geared BST could mete out with Death Scissors is awe inspiring. It'd be a 3 charge ability, of course, but with proper merits and gear, I think you could probably reduce it to about 1:30.
I don't see why any DD ready move needs to be more than 1 charge. Unless its somehow gonna do more than 3 times the damage of a powerful 1 charge ready move like foot kick.

I'd like to see a bird type mob, this includes a possible bat.
And an aquaria type mob, like a fish or a crab.
Something to complete the list of all known eco system in my arsenal.

a Cockatrice pet named pecker or one eyed willy
on a cereal note a scorp named citizen snips pet would be great or a buffalo named big ben or something. we really need bird pets something better than a Apkallu...
tho id like t ask why they never gave bst a bird type pet b4 was there some reson or were they just /lazy?

What pet would you like? A beastmaster survey! :)
Howdy!
After talking to the development team, it seems like they are down to add a familiar from the below list to go along with the level cap increase to 99. (This is separate from the pets they are already planning to add!)
We’d like to hear from all of you which one you’d like to see implemented :)
• Chloris (Mandragora)
• Colibri
• Orapodium (Mandragora)
• Hippogryph
• Chigoe
• Karkinos (Crab)
• Scolopendrid (Scorpion)
• Toad
• Red crab
• Orobon
• Hecteyes
• Pachypodium (Mandragora)
• Scorpion
• Crawler
• Funguar (Different color)
• Rafflesia
• Slime
• Karakul
• Black antlion
• Hanuman (Opo-opo)
• Black beetle
• Ruszor
In regards to monsters not listed above, there are many which would take a bit of time to implement, so it seems difficult to get them in right away.
For example, large monsters rumble the ground when they walk, so there would be a need to address those kinds of things.
Since of course Behemoth and the four gods are quite popular, as we mentioned in the job concepts briefly, we would like to look into implementing these as a special type of pet similar to the avatars Odin/Alexander.
Also, similar to Flans, the back story is pretty complicated (※) so we would need to make adjustments to make it fit the story.
■Other feedback
Make the HQ familiars NMs or have different graphics.
If you are good with that we will look into it, but are you okay with not adding brand-new familiars?
Would like smaller size pets of large monsters.
We would like to do this.
Add jugs that call a random pet each time.
We tried looking into revamping the system, but since the amount of work is on par with completely reworking the Call Beast system, making this happen seems to be quite difficult. It’s something we would like to do, but we apologize we can’t do this! :(
Add pets that can only be called while equipping Guttler.
I like this idea and believe we can do it, so we will look into it!
※Some of you may have caught on to this when seeing the blue mage artifact quest “Omens” or even for the job introduction text, but Flans are essentially test subjects that could not become blue mages. There are some methods for avoiding this like saying that they were man-made Flans based on the original, so surely we can make something happen.
• Chloris (Mandragora)
• Hippogryph
• Karkinos (Crab)
• Black antlion
• Ruszor

I'd be extremely happy with anything from that group, and getting more than one would make my protuberance more protuberant than the aforementioned Ruszor. I'd particularly like to see things from families in which we're currently weak, such as Hippogryph for Birds or Karkinos for Aquans.
Some of the others (Chigoe, Hecteyes, Etc.) sounded interesting, but then I recalled that jug pets are generally HP-filled auto-attack machines whose best TP moves are ones which enhance or enfeeble.

Before I answer the question: would a Hecteyes jug be essentially in an auto-cast mode aside from when Ready is used? And if so, how often would it cast?
What I would like to see:
Gnole / Dhalmel / Uragnite
All with a low cost Charge on their healing TP moves
Bat Trio
Jet Stream 1 Charge
Wamoura
Erratic Flutter 3 Charges
Exuvation 1 or 2 Charges
one other TP move
Worm (Regular worm : Land Worm)
Full Force Blow - 2 Charges
Sound Vac - 1 Charge
Gastric Bomb - 3 Charges
Sandspin - 3 Charges
---
Add pets that can only be called while equipping Guttler.
For selfish reasons, I'd like the same for Aymur ;)

Chloris is a she. Chloris was a Nymph associated with spring, flowers and new growth. Her Roman equivalent was the goddess Flora. She was abducted by (and later married) Zephyr, the god of the west wind
Btw i loved fighting her doing my Trials for Verethragna, so having her as a pet whould rock, doom or not

Please don't forget to include the mythic axe if you plan on making jugs just for the relic axe.

So its alright for blue mages to have access to a dumbed down version of mortal ray but bsts aren't allowed a dumbed down aoe version of it from fatal scream? It could be helpful for something like chest farming...

Scorpion
Either/or. As I said before, Scorpions would probably be the ULTIMATE damage dealing jug for bst. Death Scissors, with gear and atma, would probably dish out 2000+ easy, on top of your own Rampage/Primal Rend damage. Even if Death Scissors is a 3 charge ability, Merits and gear can push it down to about 1:30 cool down. Also, Scorpions have Sharp Spike which gives them a FOUR MINUTE LONG ATTACK + 50%, which has no negative side effects. To not want to bring this kind of firepower to any end game situation is just disrespectful to the job.

Well you guys added Slugs, I was very happy about that.
Sea Monks would be nice.
Chigoes should just be a job ability... "/ja Flea <t>" like an ability that sicks a Chigoe on the monster to occupy it for a short while, or for just a little bit more damage between dead pets.

Hanuman (Opo-opo)
Slime

Scorpion
My top choices.
I personally don't care what KIND of pet we get, I just want them to...not suck.
The TP moves of every pet so far does extremely small damage.
It would also be nice if there was a way for us to have pets when our Call Beast timer is still running...
Almost every endgame activity right now has either no charmable monsters, or monsters that are way too low level.
[Abyssea, Voidwatch, Voidwalker, etc.]
Just as well, most older events also don't have charmable mobs...>_>

Purely based off how I think SE would implement the different jugs, and no facts what so ever^^. Here is my list.
1. Slime - I think it would be great asset to bst as a tank and DD there for I would love one.
2. Scorpion - But knowing SE, death scissors would be 2 or 3 charges rendering it useless <_<(maybe it should be no.3 on my list...)
3. Colibri - With magic parroting please and thank you.
Along with saying what new pet I think would be nice, I should also mention what kind of monster I would not like to have as a pet.
1. Pachypodium (Mandragora)/Chloris (Mandragora) - as stated earlier fatal scream would not me implemented leaving the rest of the tp moves lackluster just like Flowerpot Merle(but I'll take back my comment if it gets hundred fists lol)
2. Toads - no TP moves... And there not what I would call. hmm.. whats the word. Oh yea. "useful"
3. Funguar (Different color) - okay I'll be honest I have no real beef here I just wanted an even 3-3 list :P

BSTs I am disappoint. There's a pet on that list BSTs have begged for since 1-75, and it's getting no respect right now.
Slime.
Slime's physical damage taken down is listed as a Special Defense, and does not/should not count towards the physical damage taken down cap since it's a separate stat. So, having a slime with pet -50% physical damage taken down gear would make it so it only takes 25% of physical damage. That's a hell of a pet, and it has tp moves that can do great damage or help heal itself in emergencies.

Slime just because they are awesome, and toad/chigoe would be a nice Yuly replacement(if Yuly caps before 99 without Beast Affinity) or they could even have different resistances.

You all call yourselves Beastmasters!? I say remove the new Tiger jug and replace it with the monkey and please no more Mandy pets we have too many of those as it is.
Having BIG jug pets really sucks anyone remember using those Antlions? they are so big all they do is get in the way of everyone they are very annoying.
So my Pick would have to be the monkey! Hanuman (Opo-opo)
And if your thinking 2 the 2nd would be Hecteyes if they cast magic without sic/ready.
If they don't then the Scorpion, Death Scissors should hit hard with it at 99.
I didn't say slime because the new slug is just as good if not better.
Add jugs that call a random pet each time.
We tried looking into revamping the system, but since the amount of work is on par with completely reworking the Call Beast system, making this happen seems to be quite difficult. It’s something we would like to do, but we apologize we can’t do this!
Easy fix for that give us an Item that dispenses a random jug pet every 20 minutes. (76+ jugs please)
Timing could be alot of stuff could give a random stack once an hour.
12 jugs - call beast is every 5 mins (without merits) - that equals 1 every 5 mins and by doing that bst could afford to play the job again and the AH would have pets galore!

Toad (Cause I think it'd be cool if it attacked fast with high DPS in place of the abilities)
Karkinos (Looks cool and I love the model and attacks)
Red crab (I've seen dat mods of red/pink crabs and I've always loved them. Unless there's a red crab in this game i don't know about?)
Colibri should be added no matter what happens with this list cause i think feather tickle can really open a niche for BST.
Rest that we don't have (Ruzor, Orobon, ect) should be added for completeness imo.
As you mentioned we have to get Behemoth. What sort of BeastMASTERs would we be if we can't tame the King of Beasts?

This is really, really hard to narrow down. Can't I have all of them?
I WANT ALL THE PETS!!
I can narrow it down this much.. but its super hard, and I really cannot decide.
Hanuman - Having and OPo-opo would be fantastic. They have wonderful abilities.
Hecteyes - I've talked about this one adnauseum. Having a casting pet is super fun, even if the spell is pretty random.
Scorpioin - We want a king dd. Scorpion shows the most promise for a just a mean killer pet, imo.
Rafflesia - I really like the abilities. bloody caress, triple attack.... charm? really charm?
Ruszor - We lack an aquan at high levels, I'd like something new. Ruszor's have fantastic abilites as well
Hypogryph - yes, oh please yes.
However, some of the options seem to me like I'm missing something:
Red Crab - I don't recall ever seeing a red crab... how are they different from a blue crab? (don't get me wrong, unique appearances are wonderful and all... but is there any other difference? Same goes for black beetles and antlions...
runner ups:
Karakul: would only be worthwhile if it popped out chigoes that attacked the target for awhile when doing ready moves.
Slime: Like many bsts, I would have loved to have had a slime. They were the supertank (physical anyway) for charmed pets. BST's have had many great experiences using them. However right now, we don't have such strains being able to tank. Reward cures enough that we can keep pets alive. The main desire for a slime came out of a desire for a great tank. Slimes are fun pets, but compared to some of the newer options, I don't feel the need as strongly.
I think having special pets for relic/mythic/empyrean would be AWESOME!!!! (even though these are horribly time consuming to obtain for mythic and relic anyway...)

Manticore (deadly hold/heatbreath) the campign beastmaster uses one afterall
Gnat with Insipid nip
Marid with Voracious Trunk
Colibri with the magic cast back ability

I was pleasantly surprised by the list, too. I looked at all the stuff on it, and thought, "Hey, they're really listening and they really know what would make a nice pet."

If DRG can't get a Wyrm, BSTs sure as hell shouldn't. Besides it's a special mob type Dragon which BST has no Killer trait for anyway. I'd be pretty annoyed if BST got a WYrm that can spike flail and use breaths and has like 4k HP comapred to a DRG's Wyvern,

In order of priority for me..
1. Slime
2. Colibri
3. Hecteyes
4. Chigoe
5. Hippogryph
Slimes, because we've always wanted one. It'd make a great tank because of its damage resistance and it has good TP moves to help it stay alive as well.
Colibri, because we're lacking a bird jug, and Colibri's will be pretty useful with their Feather Tickle.
Hecteyes would be useful if they retain their spellcasting ability as jugs and we can Ready spells like we can Sic... giving BSTs one spellcasting jug pet option.
Chigoes should be pretty fun. They attack very fast and seem pretty accurate. However, since they don't have TP moves, I would expect that we'll be able to perhaps assign additional effects to their attacks somehow. ( Enpetrify, hello Pankration XD )
Hippogryphs, for another bird jug. Useful as an alternative to having both Eft+Sheep... An option for dispel and pet self-buff.

May be a bit off topic but I wanted to ask... is it really unreasonable to ask the development team to add a few more families/monsters to be added to the list of those susceptible to "Charm"?
Over the past few years this Job Ability, which used to be a core mechanic to the Beastmaster job, didn't get any love.
All of the new JAs can only be used with Call Beast pets, in Abyssea not even a single monster is charmable and so on.
Would love to see some attention shed on Charm on the way to 99.

• Chloris (Mandragora)

• Scolopendrid (Scorpion)

• Black antlion
• Hanuman (Opo-opo)
• Black beetle
• Ruszor
Those are my favorite.

Slime
Colibri
Chigoe
Red Crab
Hecteyes
But, if I have to choose a single one I'll go with a slime. Their damage resistance makes it a highly appealing pet.
chocobo! (not the one we ride a new monster only available as a bst pet with unic moves)

After looking over the list - These pets are normal monsters we should have gotten already:
• Colibri
• Hecteyes
• Scorpion
• Crawler
• Slime
• Karakul < This should of been Nazuna
• Hanuman (Opo-opo)
So what would be your pick now without those?
Mine would be Red Crab out of curiosity.
But I am sure this would be better • Karkinos (Crab)
As for all the people saying a Slime cause they can tank must not of tested the new slug on the test server. That slug was tanking Jormy pretty well when I was messing around trying to solo it. (I knew I couldn't solo it) I lasted about 15 mins with that slug and pet food Eta. Only took like 5-8% off it but still that thing is nice with good TP moves.
Opo-opo
Colibri(only cause I think feather tickle would be also party-useful..I guess)
Karkinos
Scorpion

If DRG can't get a Wyrm, BSTs sure as hell shouldn't. Besides it's a special mob type Dragon which BST has no Killer trait for anyway. I'd be pretty annoyed if BST got a WYrm that can spike flail and use breaths and has like 4k HP comapred to a DRG's Wyvern,
It looks like that isn't going to happen. I'm not sure why (hope I don't get in trouble for this!) but part of the original Japanese post was not translated. There was an "I'm sorry series" included as well. I assume that is a list of pets they do not plan to implement for BST. The patterns is mob name and then reason. The list was:
ミミック族 (Mimic)
アルカナ類です!(Arcana)
アーン族 (Aern)
ルミニアン類です! (Luminian)
ワイバーン族 (Wyvern)
ドラゴン類です!(Dragon)
ドラゴン族 (Dragon)
ドラゴン類です!(2回目)(Dragon -2nd time)
プーク族 (Puk)
ドラゴン類で(ry (Dragon)
ポロッゴ族 (Porogo)
獣人類です!(Beastman)
現存しない色変え系 (color types that do not currently exist)
新規のNMとして提供することを優先させてください。(Not sure about this. Regarding new NM's please let us program these?)
アンフィプテレ (Amphitere)
バード類なのですが、ちょっと大きすぎました…(本音で言えば、よびだしたいです。)(It is a bird, but it is a little too big. [If I tell the truth, I want to call this one)
チョコボ、ヒナチョコボ (Chocobo)
チョコボ カワイイ デモ タタカワナイ (Chokobos are cute but they don't fight!)
Ake/Ome(マンドラゴラ) (Mandragora)
Nonetheless, that is a pretty awesome list you have to choose from. I'm happy for you BSTS :) And if a non BST could give his opinion, Ruszor, Scorpion and Hippogryphs sound amazing!

1. Slime (keep the physical damage taken reduction)
2. Chigoe (no TP moves, but fast attack speed)
3. Ruszor (keep the TP moves as they are and I'd love this big ugly any day)
4. Hippogryph (just because BST is missing bird type pet)
5. Scolopendrid (Scorpion) (good looking scorpion model, death scissors go!)
6. Orobon (deadly if kept as they are)
• Hanuman (Opo-opo) (oh come on! About every BST who has done the artifact quest line would love this)

Camate, The way you worded it made it sound like the devs are only letting us pick one. But i think everyone agrees that we need several.
Its also really hard to pick, because the final pet can be nerfed to worthlessness. It might help if there was more info about each choice. Ex. Chloris- just the sprite typical mandy power Orobon- without Gnash and NM moves Red Crab- Details about wat the hell a red crab does Ruszor- without healing from water, magic shell and physical shell moves ect ect. (these are examples, im not asking u to nerf them, im just asking u to be honest about how you are going to nerf them.)
If we knew more about what the final Ready list and en-effects and special abilites of these choices, we would be able to properly cast our vote.
As it stands my vote is for
HANUMAN- because i have wanted an opo-opo forever, and even if the ensilence is nerfed, and the spellcasting is removed, and the hundred fists tied to magic fruit is taken away, even if all that happens an OPO is still a righteous pet, with a nice n strong AoE and a nice n strong AoE heal, and a dispel, and some decent to strong single targets.
Here is wat i think about my secondary choices:
Ruszor- if its kept as is without nerf to magic and physical shield and water healing.
Karkinos- Because ive been wanting a courrier steve type jug for a while, the sprite is awesome and crabs rock.
Scolopendrid- to me this one should be added anyway as a normal jug, its awesome and all but its just sort of a normal pet. Please do sharp strike 2 charge death scissors - 1 charge.
Toad- if there hits and atk speed were increased a LOT to make up for there lack of ready moves, then i would be ok with this choice.
Red crab- wut does this doooo?
Orobon- I expect this guy to be worthless after all his good TP moves dont show up on the ready list.
Hecteyes- if he auto casts then heck yeah, if its the same random crap then booo
Crawler- again like the scorpion this one should just be given to us on the regular list, its just a normal old crawler. But i do want do want do want one.
Slime- awesomeness, can u make it a red one, you know the kind with endrain? and can u make digest not sucky? so far all the "drain" type ready moves for other jug pets have been severely weaker than they usually are for wild pets.
Chigoe- if it Does not die in one hit from special moves and crits and IF it is given a very high atk speed(or multi hit like the wild ones) and dmg then ok sure.
Hippogryph- this would be a WONDERFUL pet to end up with. Even if its moves are nerfed to hell and back it is still a thf bird. But what would be real nice is if they DO NOT NERF the tp moves. If choke breath is reliable at all then u will have a evasion tank with a lot of dmg mitigation potential via para and silence. Jettatura also could be nice using terror as a stun+. Fantod can be nice if it severely boosts dmg like the hippo NMs. And if they let us keep hoofvolley we will have a crit based WS. IF they wanted to be EVEN cooler, they could put in a small like 5-15% chance that the hippogryph will use hoof volley after any ready move.
Colibri- nifty if it mimics magic, but even still sort of meh.
Mandies (all 7 million of them)- no thanks, fix the crappy mandies we have now, and then maybe we might want another one.
Rafflesia- ONLY IF THE AMNESIA IS ACCURATE.
Karakul- if they pewp out chigoes maybe.
Black beetle- This isnt as horrible as it sounds. There usually pld mobs, i could see them ending up with lots n lots of HP. Rhino guard tends to spike there evasion up a considerable amount making them sort of thief like paladins. And Power attack has a crit chance.
Black antlion- Eh the old antlion's only saving grace was the fact that his HP was abnormally high, And he hit pretty hard. Standard antlions have super crap TP moves. So this new black antlion would definately need something special to hang with all these other suggestions.
Funguar(diff color)- the only reason i would really want to see a funguar again is if they got microspores and agaricus(skill) as decently priced ready move options.
Anyway there is my vote + a buncha questions.

It would definitely be nice to have some more details.
From an aesthetic standpoint, I need an Opo-opo and want a Hippogryph.
From a utility standpoint, a Slime sounds like it could be incredible (if it's not nerfed).
Still sticking with the Opo-opo though. Ensilence would play very nicely with my PDT- set, and I don't see them removing that. Also keep in mind you get a free Reward if things get heavy / you get cheap- Magic Fruit is a big heal, I'm sure it'll stick in the 800-1400HP healed range.
The Guttler-exclusive idea is really cool and I support it (even though I'll probably never have one). I think the dev team should also consider adding some ra/ex jugs that can only be bought after certain quests or trials are completed. Maybe these pets could be a bit stronger than usual since the jugs would be rare.
I hope the dev team isn't only considering adding one of these. That's a big tease, as many of them look like great pets. I think BSTs deserve a lot more jugs since we haven't been able to Charm anything new. Trials would lend themselves perfectly to allowing BST access to additional jugs. It could even be something like, "Defeat 70 enemies with a Charmed Opo-opo."

I believe the red crabs he refers to just have a slight tint to them, and are RDMs instead of PLDs. I think the Crimson Knight Crabs (http://ffxi.gamerescape.com/wiki/Crimson_Knight_Crab) in CoP zones is the model if you want to check them out.

1. Slime (Been wanting a slime jug pet for ages - but only if they keep their melee resistance).
2. Hippogryph/Colibri to bridge the current Ecosystem gap.
3. Karkinos/Ruszor for our new, beefed up Aquans.
4. Scolopendrid/Hanuman as high-end DD pets.

I have to admit, i voted toad purely for aesthetic reasons. I think all bsts's have a favorite sentimental jug they use even though it cant fight well. Mine is Keeneared Steffi, shes not even max lvl but i use her to farm. However i also voted Scolopendrid because with death scissors it might replace nazuna for dmg. I just hope it wouldn't be a big model, i never use giant pets because they get in the way and are usually slower. I know alot of ppl want stuff like rams and marids, but i think it would get annoying for a pt of bsts with 6 marids stepping all over everything lol. I do like the idea of big pets in smaller form though. I'm still hoping for Dhalmel jugs... I used to love charming them for their healing breeze TP move.

This is where SE is failing at BST.
Ive been playing BST for longer than this game has been out in NA, and SE just has no idea which direction theyre taking the job.
Jug pets are not BSTs main forte, Charm is. Adding new Jugs (worthwhile even)? Ok, thats cool. Making BST suck less in PTs by giving them access to heavy DD gear? Awesome. But why BST cant use their staple JA in Abyssea (or even back in Sea days) is beyond idiocy.
The charm mechanics really need to be redefined.
-I should be able to charm any current charmable family mob any charm them anywhere, firstly.
-SE should expand the range of charmable mobs. Goldfish in Sea, etc. Add some lvl 99 trait that lets you Charm undead, a JA that lets me charm Arcana, or something along those lines.
-I should be able to charm IT mobs, and be able to hold them for more than 1 minute. Make charming purposeful again by increasing Charm+ duration significantly.
Jugs were horrible a couple of years ago; low defense and would only last 30 mins. Now they take more hits and have a longer duration, which is great, but thats not what BST want.
The allure of BST was that they could control beasts. Why should I expend gil to buy a alchemistic pet, when I have a useful JA that can claim a mob right next to me?
However thats really hard to do when you cant claim ANY mob where current content has been for the last few years.
Fix Charm. Screw Jugs.

If you implemented toads, you could give them special "natural" characteristics to make up for them not having any abilities.
Examples: Inherent high auto regen, high evasion, inherent damage taken reduction, naturally high critical hit and/or double attack rate, magic defense bonus, some sort of additional effect on melee hits, etc.

1) Orobon
2) Ruszor
3) Karkinos
We need aquans at the very least for killer instinct. And I miss having a crab, but two previously uncharmable pets beat nostalgia.
4) Hanuman
An
Opo-Opo because Magic Fruit should be an upgraded Wild carrot, and Opo Opos are just nasty to fight against, so having one of our own would turn the tables. Also the BST in the artifact armor storyline had one.
5) Scolopendrid
Scorpions have always been so cool, but they were very rarely usable until long after you were done with a zone.
Also, on the Guttler Unique pet front, my vote goes for Chocobo. A Chocobo got me into BST, a Chocobo should take me out.

This is really hard to answer, without knowing exactly what each critter was going to be capable of. On top of that, if it's going to be our one and only Lv99 jug, I'd want it to be something extra-special and not a mob type we've ever had before. I'm torn between just throwing out my personal favorite of the bunch and putting a vote behind something that's brutal in the wild in the hope that it doesn't get nerfed. When you mention NMs, are you saying that we'd be getting something that shared their abilities, or is it just for the sake of mob size and appearance?
Of course, I'd like to see all these jugs... except for the mandies, we've got far too many of those already. Please, no more mandy jugs at any level. One thing I would very much like to see is any further jugs coming out having elemental damage reductions like Yuly, so we'll have a pet to counter each type.
Anyway, here's a sort of conditional list.
• Colibri - From a pure cosmetic/favorite standpoint, my first choice. I'd love having Feather Tickle and Pecking Flurry handy, too. Maybe even give it a special version of Snatch Morsel that operates like Aura Steal, since the mobs have no morsels to snatch. I... can't deny though that other options would have more combat capability.
• Chigoe - Evil, bouncing, disease-ridden death. I'm more interested in these just because I think they're awesome than for any massive utility.
• Scolopendrid - Definitely a solid choice either way. Can't say much that won't parrot everyone else. And go with the gold type. My only regret would be that I don't think they're really all that neat as a critter.
• Slime - I'm actually kinda on the fence with this one. I've always wanted a slime, and do still want one, though tanking in general has gotten much easier for BST. I wouldn't sneeze at the extra damage reduction, but it's not like it's a gaping void I've no way to fill anymore.
• Rafflesia - Granted I don't expect any kind of charm effect. It's too bad we can't already use these, they're nifty. Have you guys ever considered changing the Ochus in the Rolanberry Fields to this mob type? These are what Ochus have always been in the other Final Fantasy games, the devs at the time just used Malboros since Raffles didn't exist yet.
• Hanuman (Opo-opo) - Would absolutely need to keep the NM's ensilence and other crazy traits. If it's just a plain Opo that's slightly bigger than others, no thanks.
• Ruszor - Very nice, should the TP moves and traits go through unhindered. It also fits in with my desire for the final jug to be something really out there.
If you felt like putting some extra caffeine in the dev team's food, maybe get them to make the final pet be whatever, but using a new model with a little colibri riding on it's back? The mob would be it's proper type and have the appropriate TP moves and abilities, but the idea is that the colibri is controlling it and working for you? It'd only be wallpaper of sorts, but it would make the pet extremely unique, and have the bonus of giving me my colibri while still being whatever everyone else desired for a functional pet. XD
I do need to narrow all that down though so:
If the Ruszor keeps all it's powers, first choice.
Scorpion if the Ruszor would get nerfed.
And squeeze in a colibri somewhere before 99 if you can.

Before choosing what jug you want, keep in mind what jugs we are getting from 96-99.
We are getting a
Turtle - PLD type mob, so asking for another tanking jug like a crab seems a waste.
Apkallua - No idea what type of mob this would be, DD? Situational. I just cant see a penguin kicking ass.
??? - This is the third and I believe final jug they are asking the Bst community want we want.
We need A DD jug, that is why I choose Scorp. Jug pets tp moves suck for dmg, this guy may actually give us some real dmg tp moves.

1. Scolopendrid: Would make a great DD pet, which would be very welcome. Also looks great with the gold, while normal scorpion would be liked, this one takes the cake.
2. Hippogryph: Pretty badass pet, though I hope it gets a decent DD move.
3. Hecteyes: As long as it can do some magic this adds a lot to bst, for killing things that resist physical.
4. Ruszor: Possible DD pet.
5. Orobon: Fish DD pet could be a nice addition.

There are pets id rather see like all the ones i meantioned on page 14 but why wouldnt you want to see a slime? It's been bsts favorite lvling pet since time began.
I'm pretty certain most people who are picking slimes haven't really put much thought into how that pet would fit into the current game world. Think about the Leech and Coeurl pets, people have been wanting them for a long time but when they were released (with exception to leech's water resist ) no one really cares about them.
The way I see it, the only good use for slime is for tanking. But at level 95 in abyssea we don't need a Slime pet.. its over kill. Anything you can solo now is a breeze at 95, Some NMs no longer even require you to use DG, you can get by with just PDT gear and Regen atma alone. The Slime might open up some choices for you to use offensive atmas for some of the high NMs but again... if you can solo these NMs now, at 95 they're a joke, you don't need a slime. Most of the NMs off limit to use now is because they spam magic damage which is a major problem with slime's very low HP and magic defense, so they would be near useless in those fights.
Outside of abyssea you have Voidwatch to look forward to and I don't see a slime tank being anything more than a decoy for these NMs. Besides SE already stated they may be giving us a Adamontoise crab pet.... how many tanks do you guys want!?

Actually... here's an idea. Maybe they could use all of them? Sort of in line with the idea for a jug that spits out a random critter, though not that exactly. It could be set up more like a chocobo whistle. A player has to choose which pet they want to use, and when they use the 99 jug it summons what they went with from the list. Maybe have acquiring each pet be a mini-quest, and then you can set your jug at an NPC from what you've unlocked. Or maybe if the devs wanted to make it a little less trivial to change, require the player to go fetch certain items related to what they want to use, give them to the hypothetical npc, and that would lock in what the 99 jug calls out. If you wanted to try something else/change back, you'd need more items(same sort of deal as changing your fellow's weapon, essentially).

The slime opens up options in many situations for different atma and gear combo's. Slimes don't have a weakness to magic. They just don't have any extra resistance against magic and there weak element is fire and there strong element is water.
Outside abyssea it gives us the chance to cap pdt with a pet and still have the same mdt as we had on other pets.
We don't know what a slime jugs hp will be and we don't know how well any of the proposed pets will perform. Jug pets have a history of performing NOTHING like their wild counterparts. They are either extremely better than there wild counterparts or extremely weaker. It is pretty useless to surmise witch way it will go.
But fundamentally, a slime is not as awful a choice as you imply.
P.S. funny story, I solo'd Charybdis with a lvl 65 mousse back at lvl 80. I reached the pdt cap at the time of 100% on blunt b4 ducal guard existed. And was playing around on every NM and monster that did blunt dmg, in every zone that had a slime. It was silly but fun =)

I Like this idea and actually suggested something similar in the OP of the "Pet Shop" thread.
I said " Also, on a side note, I have always thought it would be neat to have a beastmaster AF quest line which upon completion would reward a beastmaster with a choice of a personalized pet from a list of more rare types of monsters. Ex. Kraken, opo-opo, hex eye, ect. "
I love your more detailed idea. Especially the part about being able to trash your choice and re-do the quest to make a new selection. I hope LOTS MORE poeple hit the like button on limecat's post.

from the list it would be
Hippogryph
Scolopendrid(with hell scissors maybe with run wild or whatever)
Slime(was always fun mischarming these back in the day)
Hanuman
Ruszcor.
Now back to the Beast Strength Chart, we are missing some in certain areas. consider giving us
Hound or Doomed type mobs for undead.
Bomb/Snoll/Dijinn/Cluster for Arcana
Puk for Dragon
Ahriman or Tauri for Demon
Fifth Ecosystem No comment, not sure it would matter, would be nice to have a shark from sea tho and a soccer ball to play around with lol
I do like the idea of Guttler/Aymur getting their own exclusive jugs, my idea for them would be one of them each being able to call Kyo/Pya, which are Rocs, they are pets of Lhu Mhakaracca(guttler owner npc) I would def turn in my Ogre Killer and key items for it lol.
I would much rather have Charm back in my arsenal than fake pets but whatever.
I also understand the astral flow type of ja or whatever, I am good with it, I believe those HNM/exclusive mobs that we Currently CAN NOT CHARM should only be used with that JA.
I am done nn
It seems like few bst recognize the the real dd potential for a scorpion jug. Its not just in the really nice Death Scissors or Hell Scissors move, although that is really awesome.
Its this little ability:
Sharp Strike: 50% Attack Boost. 4 minute 15 second duration.
Do you have any idea how big a 50% attack boost is!? Even w/out the boost, go ahead into one of the abyssea zones w/ some scorpions. Compare how they eat at your atma buffed pets compared to other mobs.
Scorpions are SERIOUSLY tough even before these great DD boosting ready moves. We have several various tank pets that are really cool now. Yuly the eva tank, Nazuna has HUGE hp pool, fargann (and Gerard soon) for water magic resist tanking, Broncha seems the highest general magic resist(imo probably due to high int) and a incoming Adamantoise pet sounds like a supertank to me.
Really we have this wonderful swissarmy-knife selection of jugs gathering together. I"d love to see the niches filled and the most important niche we could really use is a Damage dealer. Run wild just doesn't seem to be fulfilling my expectations yet here. (mainly because I can't pin down what it does besides a big regen effect and killing your pet. I'm still really hoping there is more to it).
Scorpion and Opo-opo are my best hopes for a great DD. (opo-opo have fantastic abilities, and if its based off hanuman.... thats even better)

If slime gets to keep its full natural resistances, slime is #1
But, since I don't expect it to (see slug on test server).
0. Slime (if it keeps phys resists)
1. Scolopendrid (will need a new pet with +Attack after sheep)
2. Hippogryph (we'll need a new THF and we still lack a bird)
3. Ruszor (if it keeps some of the good tp moves)
4. Rafflesia (same as Ruszor, or if it's a WAR w/triple attack race trait)
5. Chigoe (assuming they don't explode easily like the wild ones)

• Hecteyes YES! They would be great jog pets, magic casting jugs Yes please
• Rafflesia A Beastmaster type mob being a Jug? I wonder what would be the TP moves since we know it won't charm nearby things
• Slime Tank pet FTW yes! Slimes are excellent pets for BSTs You should really tell them to make us a Slime Pet
• Hanuman (Opo-opo) Give it AoE Magic fruit and I'll be a little happy
• Ruszor Hell yeah, they have annoying TP moves
You're missing a few that would be perfect.

I agree. Let Relic, Mythic and Empy all have the same "call beast jug" effect. And w.e the pet is that is called, it should have a baby chocobo riding on top. (Kinda like the baby chocobo from /jobemote SMN) That'd be super cool and fun to look at, after all it all started with a chocobo...

for level 99 we should get Buffalo, dragons(wivre or w/e) hippogryph or someting of an equal size and equally rare ingame just to make a statement, this mob shows you are a level 99 BST with no need to check, special moves would be a bonus but just give them decent lvl 99 HP and I would be happy

Can you please give more details about these jugs?
Will ruzor keep his water absorption?
Will Ruzor keep Hydro Blast and Frozen mist?
Will the slime keep his 75% blunt and 50% pierce and slash resistance?
What TP Moves will the slime end up with?
Will it have endrain like the natural clot's do?
What TP moves will the hippogryph end up getting?
Will Hanuman keep his spellcasting?
Will Hanuman Keep his ensilence?
What TP moves will hanuman end up with?
What changes will be made to karkinos?
What TP moves will he get?
It's very frustrating. Everyone is voting based on the current strength of the wild counterparts of these options. But its highly likely that these listings will not be anywhere near the strength of their wild counterparts. Please give us a little bit more info on this narrowed down selection. In the long run you will avoid a lot of RAGE. Think of how many mad bsts there will be if they voted in a useless ruszor thinking it was going to be at full power. Only to find out that half of his TP moves werent available.

I hate to pester you to pester the development team, but this seems like it would affect the decision made by a lot of people. Would the Ruszors have the full range of normal Ruszor TP attacks or would the unique defensive TP moves (Hydro Blast, Frozen Mist, Hydro Wave) be either removed or profoundly weakened?

You don't have to just vote between slime and ruszor. He was just listing the top 2 in the polls. He ALSO listed runner ups.
Also considering chances are that ruszors are gonna be nerfed to hell and back, Ruszor is in the top slot under false pretenses.
Out of the stuff listed i choose hippogryph. Because its the only one they can't nerf into uselessnes. BUT my heart wants a gosh darn opo-opo ; ; in the back of my mind im hoping Camate tells us that Hanuman does get to keep ensilence just in time for everyone to change there vote to hanuman.

I take Ruszor because we already going to have a tank pet in the turtle jug we are getting. There is no way they will keep the resistance on the slime, no bloody way.
The ruszor has some good TP moves even if others get nerfed, defense down, paralyze. What does slime have, just crap. their drains will get resisted most of the time.

I can just see it now, we will get a slime because the majority of people forget this is SE and not realize, of course they are going to nerf the crap out of the slimes inherent resistance. We will get a slime jug that has very crappy tp moves, does little damage and gets its ass kicked. No one will use it.
Then everyone that voted for slime will get all angry because they didn't think before they acted and regret not choosing another jug.
What we need is a jug with good magical resistance, because those nms kick our butts, unless we put on magic defense atma and gimp our damage.
is there any good general magic defense mobs on original list?
Vizardx
09-14-2011, 05:21 AM
Well, lets look at Jug stats in general. All jugs are pretty much a slightly weaker version of their wild counter parts. (new jugs closed the gap alot but its still aparent.) Now if u figure in the mob stats between the top two.
Ruszor has: Crazy high atk and HP ratings (more than a sheep.) but basicly no outstanding draw backs other than its large size and we all SE can /bite size mobs now.
Slime has: Mega low HP and mega damage resistance.
So if u add the mobs + jug stats together you'll end up with
Ruszor having High attack and HP and some vicious TP moves even with out the added effect.
Slime having: Very low HP and most likely Lower defence. Even if they keep the physical resistances
almost every NM in the game has Magic or a Magic ability or an En-spell or a Spike effect that will Tear the
slime apart.
My Vote: Ruszor
out of the runner ups I'd take Hippo as we need a new THF jug

Limecat
09-14-2011, 08:58 AM
Ruszor. I wish we knew a lot more about what it's going to come out the gate with since this being awesome is conditional on it keeping its TP stuff. Then again, better DD is what I want... so I would choose the ruszor over the slime either way, I think. However, and this needs to be stressed again I think, I want the scorpion if the Ruszor is going to be lessened in any way.
For the rest, the original assessment stands. If this opo-opo is going to come out with all of Hanuman's actual abilities, I'd choose that. If not, the hippogryph. We're looking down the barrel of having only one untested avian jug, and I'd rather have another in case the apkallu isn't so great at DDing. As for the crab, the model is cool, but I don't care about using it as a pet. I'm sure any tanking role it could possibly be destined for will be handled handsomely by the adamantoise.
Faithful
09-14-2011, 09:05 AM
The Adamantoise isn't going to be a jug pet. SE stated that it'll be more like the avatars Odin and Alexander.
I can't choose which pet from the list I'd prefer because it all depends on what SE nerfs, and what kinda charges they place on the various Tactical Point moves. It's nice to know what's being considered though.

At this point its like we are picking the prom king and queen. All we know about them is that someone is captain of the football team and someone else has big boobs. A popularity contest for bst's isn't really the best way to decide the future of the job <_<
Without info you CANT say that a ruszor jug pet would be a stronger dd then a slime, or make and definitive statements about any of the possible new pets. There is no way of knowing what SE plans to do with trait, stats, or tp moves. All though assuming that something about a pet is going to be nerfed or not is what we have gotten used to unfortunately. I just like to think with this being the last tear of jugs that they will be special and help bst to achieve what ever SE was going for when they made bst.
But anyway I'll be voting for the Hippogryph today. Dipper is well... I don't think I have to say it. I would love a stronger thf pet ^^

Utility over Aesthetics for me, I leveled the job to get stuff done, Not play dress up with my pet.
Slime > Ruszor.
Slime for me.
I'll take a pet that can be used as a decent tank with heavy physical resistance over a fancy-looking Walrus (if Slugs lost their Absorb Water trait, So will Ruszors, Don't get your hopes up on that).
Only way they could screw up slime is if they nerfed its HP or Resistance... Which they haven't done extensively to any mob. All pets retain their resistances (Yuly: Wind, Fargann:Water, and so forth).
That being said, I'd take a Hippogryph over them all if it kept its THF-Job.
