The whole purchasing crysta and using click n buy options are the worst. I've lost a lot of friends as a result of SE changing their payment system. I find it unfair favouritism that SE would choose to do in the vast majority of their players while the Japanese players still have the choice to use direct debit.

Click n buy is a UK based company that has a bad reputation and charges international fees for customers outside the UK. Crysta is now the only guaranteed safe method of payment for customers not inside Japan but since this requires buying more crysta than required for a months' subscription then the customer is wasting money as the crysta gets deleted if it's not all used up within a certain period of time, this is true for all customers including long-term and international customers paying via crysta.

Bring back direct debit payment please, it's the most secure and trusted method of payment. Allowing a 3rd party to have credit card details for unlimited access to the account is a dangerous and insecure method of payment and paying via crysta is just a scam to take more money off customers.

I 2nd this. I couldn't have said it better myself.

I will add that when click and buy / Crysta become 100% mandatory I'll probably stop playing FFXI. I'm sorry, but I've been playing since 2003 paying by direct credit and just cannot see making this change so late in the game.

For years I've had people from several unrelated groups of friends try to pull me to WoW. I can make a ton of people happy by just changing my payment method to direct credit with Blizzard. I've been a hardcore FFXI loyalist through all the ups and downs the game has seen, but this is the last straw.

http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/15994-So-by-using-click-and-buy-my-bank-now-charges-a-INTL-fee-Seems-rather-stupid.. - Really? Troubleshooting my payment method?

The payment system has never been broken. It wasn't broken when 3-D Secure was made mandatory and it isn't broken now. Stop trying to fix something that isn't broken. You're just making your loyal customers angry and pushing them away.

I Agree with the op.

Starting today, you can now specify the exact amount of Crysta to add to your account. In addition to the set amounts available up until now, it is also possible to add any value of Crysta between 500 and 10,000 points.

The previously announced Fall 2011 implementation of direct credit card payments is still under development and should be ready soon. We apologize for the wait, but we will make an announcement once an exact implementation date has been decided. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Playonline.com is still relevant for need to know information.

You don't need to ask them to bring it back. They already are bringing it back...

Everyone should be doing the Kirby dance as a result. <("<) (>"<) (>")>

customer is wasting money as the crysta gets deleted if it's not all used up within a certain period of time

Didn't someone calculate this to be 2 dollars?

*shrug*

Doesn't matter now, SE's already said they're bringing it back.

customer is wasting money as the crysta gets deleted if it's not all used up within a certain period of time If you don't add more crysta than you're going to use (no longer an issue with the exact crysta option), then there is zero chance you'll ever have crysta "deleted." Just add the crysta on your billing date.

Playonline.com is still relevant for need to know information.

Fair enough.

For the record, I did look at playonline.com before posting here (actually linked to the forum from there).

Maybe SE could add that information to the Square Enix Account Transfer Information Page (http://www.playonline.com/homeus/polshift/) or About Payment Methods or Register/Update Payment Method on Square Enix Account Management System (https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app/svc/info).

It isn't that I'm lazy; I actually looked at all of these places before coming to the forum and searching for related posts before posting. I just think adding a simple iframe linking to that relevant information on any one of the pages I listed would help "provide a more streamlined account management experience".

No one disputes they need to improve their communication. I'm just saying your wish has been (is being) granted.

My services just got cancelled again because I forgot to add Crysta in time. Not that it's a big deal to reactivate them (had to do it last month too), but I have to believe that SE is losing money from people like me that let their accounts lapse for a few days every month.

The ability to add an exact amount of Crysta is nice, but how about the ability to automatically add the exact amount necessary every month (without having to use C&B)?

but I have to believe that SE is losing money from people like me that let their accounts lapse for a few days every month. Incidents like this are probably really common (e.g. subscription lapsing for 1 day) now, but they aren't really losing much because it basically just makes up for the billing period being 30 days instead of 31/28(9)/31/30/31/30/31/31/30/31/30/31 days.
