FFXI: Ultimate Collection Abyssea Edition + Existing Account

Hi community. I have a short story and a question to pose for you with the fate of $10 on the line.

Currently I have all the FFXI expansions and add ons except for the Abyssea content. Last night upon seeing that the FFXI Ultimate collection was on sale for 50% off, I hastily made the purchase thinking this was the best opportunity to start up again with all the content.

Now, my question is, because I have yet to find a way to do this, is if it is possible to apply just the Abyssea content from the FFXI Ultimate Collection to my existing account. Or am I a dummy who wasted 10$/has to srat over to enjoy Abyssea?

You can put the activation code from the Ultimate Collection into your existing account and get access to Abyssea that way.

However, the Ultimate Collection is all one code (not separate codes for separate expansions like before), so you can't "just" activate the Abyssea codes and hope to use the core game/expansion/etc. codes for a new character.

Ok, I think I understand. So, do I have to uninstall the copy that I have now and reinstall everything? Then in Play Online when I log in, do I use the code for Ultimate Collection with my current Square Enix account info?

Do I have to unlink and re-link my Square Enix account?

Actually, I think I'm still confused. I'm sorry, could anybody give me instructions exactly on how to make this work?

You don't have to uninstall the game. Just add the codes to your exscisting square Enix account online.

Long story short: I'm pretty sure that the add on content(all 6)are included with FFXI updates and you just need a code to unlock it all.


I did the same thing because I was wanting the moogle hat for my BST. So I guess I frickin' own the lame add ons now. Anyway I have been able to use collection reg codes in the past to register WotG I think so I'm sure I can do it again now. However the first three add ons were different in the sense that there's no obvious place to insert codes. When I bought Abyssea it just kinda auto registered I think. In this case I'm pretty sure you just go to your SE account page and go through select services and choose add to existing account and type in the code(which I assume unlocks any content that has yet to be unlocked since it is a collections reg code, and also gives you the in game items because I certainly don't see stand alone codes anywhere for a nexus cape or a hat)

The problem I have is that because I haven't transferred yet, I can't register squat until I do. Which I won't, until I see those new payment options. And even when I do see them, I have the problem of dealing with 3D secure. With what I saw at a glimpse was that I only need 3d secure if my card uses it to begin with. So I don't know. Maybe I'll be faced with using 3rd pt crap anyway or calling it quits. I'm just not all that forgiving when it comes to simple things being made hard. They've never had problems with me and my payments. I don't care if they do have problems with others. So, continue to take my bleeping money.

Anyway, assuming you have transferred, just log in to your SE account, select service, add service to existing account, type in the collections code, and it should bring up a page that asks you if you want to register all products yet to be registered, and there will probably be a list of everything and you need to check off boxes for Abyssea and the add ons if you need those still. I can only presume this for the time being but that's about how POL did it before they jumped the gun and ruined it's ability to do it's job while we wait for the promised new payment methods that don't suck.

Ah! thanks everybody! I got it to work! And it was so simple too...! Now I just need to figure out how to get my beret!
