View Full Version : Can't enter cd key for expansion.
I'm an old player coming back to the game. I quit after wings of the goddess came out. I recently recovered my account, and I'm currently having multiple issues with the game, and I was hoping someone out there could help me out.
When I log into play online everything starts up fine I log in go to "Service and Support" then "Membership", and that's where I'd normally go to enter a cd key but I get a message saying: "You can perform PlayOnline and FINAL FANTASY XI procedures from the Square Enix account Management System.
After logging into the Square Enix Account Management System, please select from the screen, and perform the procedures from there."
I have my old account linked and there's nothing more I can do from the secure.square-enix.com/account/ website.
I've tried going through "Final Fantasy XI" > "Content ID" > under "Expanded Services" "Register ID" and I get the same error message. I can't even review my content ID.
My account services are paid for, and among other problems I can't even get my game to update properly. I downloaded the game via Steam. I figured there may be a problem with the registration, so any advice is welcome! PLEASE HELP! O_O

For the Account/Billing issue, you will be directed to contact Customer Service via the Support Centre as this Technical Support board does not take care of such issues.
However the latter issue would fit here well. Could you elaborate on the problem in updating the software?
While the officials can't answer the account-related thing, I can give some pointers on it. What are you actually trying to register? You mention an old account; are you trying to add a new service option?
If it's an old account, you should not need to re-register anything, except if you have something new to add.
If the game complains about Content IDs, you need to activate them, which is done at the same place as registering new stuff.
That would be done in the Services and Options section of the Square Enix Account Management System.
Select Service -> PlayOnline / Final Fantasy XI -> Active Service Accounts -> Options List
If I have the right of it, this is where you register the new codes now. I have everything already so I can't really test it (it will just complain that the selected services are already purchased).
You indeed can not perform any of this vie the PlayOnline Viewer anymore.
I think that is all for now.
I hope this helps!
Good luck~
Thankyou for the reply and advice. I entered my product keys for the abyssea expansion. I'm still having problems with the updating.
To further elaborate on the FFXI update process. I can't get past step one. It's random when I disconnect, which led me to believe that it's a hardware issue. I've tried connecting my computer directly into my modem, didn't work. I've made sure I had no programs running in the background. The closest to completing step one that I've achieved was 97% and I had skype open and I was running off my wireless receiver.
I have windows vista, and I'm running PoL as administrator, and I turned off my firewall(don't hack me bro). I have an AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 dual core processor 4000+ 2.10 GHz. and 3 GBs of ram. My comps fairly clean I mostly used it for work purposes so there shouldn't be too many bugs.
Edit: I made it to step two finally but it cut out about 10 minutes into downloading.
The error code I keep getting is "POL-0250" "Network Connection Error". My internet rarely cuts out. I'll be on skype for hours without anyone cutting out.

Taco,
We can offer a few suggestions if you are experiencing any of the following:
• Have difficulty connecting to or staying connected to the PlayOnline Viewer or FINAL FANTASY XI
• Crash, receive a black screen error, or get stuck at the downloading data screen upon clicking your character handle or character select button
• See your the lag meter turn red
• Encounter increased lag or connection problems near crowed areas
• Have trouble accessing specific zone(s)
• Have trouble logging in with specific character(s)
• Receive any of these errors: 3113, 3100, 4001, 1160
Suggestions:
1. Check to make sure you have properly configured or turned off any of the following: Routers, Proxy Servers, NAT Servers, Internet Connection Sharing services.
2. If you are using any kind of software/hardware Internet Sharing service/device the following ports need INCOMING access to your PC: TCP 25, 80, 110, 443, and 50000 - 65535, UDP 53, and 50000 - 65535. Also, check to make sure that the ports mentioned are not blocked by your ISP for INCOMING access. Proper configuration of any of the above items mentioned should be done by following the instructions in the software/hardware manual or calling the manufacturer's technical support.
3. If you are using a router, and have configured that router for port forwarding, temporarily bypass that router and connect directly to the modem.
Please take note of the following:
• Proxy servers, and satellite connections are not supported and do not work correctly with FINAL FANTASY XI.
• Your router may require that you use a PC to configure your network settings. For more information about how to configure your network settings, please refer to the instruction manual that came with your router or contact the manufacturer directly.
• If your Internet Service Provider (ISP) specifies a DNS server, you need to make sure to configure your settings to allow packets to pass through UDP Port 53 as well. For more information, please refer to the instruction manual for your router or the information provided by your ISP.
