Am I the only one who saw this and thought it was the dev team's best idea in like forever? ;)

(of course, we know that SE likes to reference Star Wars, usually by including characters named Biggs and Wedge)

LOL I said the same thing to my friend. I said also that if they add a yellowish orange one then we are gonna have to nickname it "Pizza the Hut"

Who's to say jabba doesn't want to look pretty now and then? Maybe he thinks of himself as a princess.

It could have been a pink recoloring if it was a mere flan princess, like they did with Holy Moly.
So it's definitely a wink to Star Wars, it's simply too similar in appearance to Jabba the Hutt to not be that.
Ingame, it'll probably be a Flan Princess or Queen. Or a Flan Drag Queen... I suspect Charm will be a key ability on that mob :D

Don't forget Final Fantasy XII.

The whole game was a Star Wars reference.

ok guys we have to go to this floating mining colony that has thusfar remained neutral

oh no the leader (who goes way back with one of the principal characters) stabbed us in the back and turned us over to the bad guys to protect the colony's neutrality!!!!

the empire double-crossed him after making him sell out his friends! those jerks!

now he's seen the error of his ways and is flying the millennium falcon

(ps don't believe lando's lies)

Probably has the same total drop rate too (1/64)^2.

All I know is that I hope it drops pink tails.

Nope. Didn't think about Jabba for even a second. That might be because because I've played enough FF to immediately recognize it as the Flan Princess, notoriously from FFIV (but it's appeared in remakes of other games, too).

FF's are games that constantly reference mythology... Norse (http://www.ffxiah.com/item/18675/mjollnir), Indian (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Shiva), Chinese (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Qilin), Christian (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Metatron_Torment)

I guess star wars is american mythology

The Shiva in FF11 is possibly based on a slavic deity rather than indian. At least the slavic deity is actually female.

You know hutts are hermaphrodites, right?

I don't think so, I think they just set out to make a larger more elaborate flan and that's how it turned out. Sometimes things just turn out similar without any actual intention of that. This happens because some things are just obvious and someone else may arrive at the same (or similar) idea independently. (it even happens in nature, check out mice and marsupial mice, totally different unrelated animals that look nearly identical)

Take a look at the original Flan model, now imagine that you want to make a special, "boss" flan with a more elaborate design. One of the more obvious ways would be to keep the face/upper head the same but expand the body.

Nope, are they? I never really got into starwars lore. I just watched the movies and that's about it.
