View Full Version : Goldsmithing - Moblumin ingot

Heya! I have been stuck at 64 Goldsmithing for years now with quite a few synthesis horror stories to recount just from trying to skill up- for instance in my top 10 list: 38 synths of Mythril Breastplates with NO (0.1) skill ups & 20 some synths of platinum arrowheads with a total of .2 skill ups (back from when platinum was 300k a stack).

I understand that goldsmithing was intended to be an expensive craft with high cost high rewards marketplace, and it has always been that way. I was just hoping for possibly a little help getting into the break synthing levels namely by introducing a synthesis recipe for the moblumin ingot . Item description says that it's an aluminum alloy and well.. on a bored Sunday I've tried all kinds of ore combinations to make it but with no results (was hoping it had a hidden recipe heh..). I believe that it would help fellow crafters get one of the harder skills up without much fuss and without impacting the total economy or level of difficulty (or cost) post 72ish up for the goldsmithing craft.

I would love to hear feed back about the idea or even suggestions for getting GS up.. and yes.. It was 38 without any skill ups heh.. Thank you!

Plat earrings, plat rings, mob sheets, and shotel are all doable skill up synths for 64-69/70. Research the material prices to decide on one. If plat ingots are 5k or less on your server like mine right now then the ear/rings might be worth the hassle. You can break synth the shotel if your subs are low enough. Mob ingots are the way to go to spend no gil but the time investment in farming is still going to be need to be weighed against your ability to farm gil. Sometimes people have a hard time grasping the concept but you're not saving money by farming materials if you can be more efficient by farming gil and buying materials.

One of the things I enjoyed about the mob ingot stage was that I had to farm them. It just feels better when you need to farm something to advance in crafting, and not just stand in front of the AH all day power leveling. Most of the time it's not worth the trouble because you lose interest if you don't make progress(mining ores for skill ups, for example)but I found mob ingot drop rates to be within an acceptable range with TH3 to continue doing them. It might be a sound idea to provide a synth for them but I feel it would be a great injustice to take it away from players who would like more time spent away from the AH and be worth it, and those that want to PL have their options. So, shrug. I could see players without TH still being stuck between a rock and hard place, and while this stage in GS has long past for myself therefore I don't have an opinion for one way or another, it's just one of those things where it's nice to have a need to go out into the field and not be stuck at the AH.

Moblumin is needed for shrimp lanterns to reverend mail for whm. Back in the day I farmed and crafted everything to make lanterns for pure profit while skilling up to 71 or so. I doubt people want reverend mail nowadays though.

I've recently been powercrafting GS and my other crafts. In the last couple weeks I've gotten GS from 53 to 85.7 atm, when I was at your stage I just camped the AH for cheap platinum ingots, made earrings and tried to desynth for more ingots to synth again, think its important to utilise lokyst's FFXI Crafting Timer so you get the best timing/direction for skilling up. Also its handy if the server has kupo power artisans advantage for the desynth and break synthing.
