Do you ever find yourself getting drawn back?

Hey, so yeah... What I mean by the topic is... Anyone else just keep getting drawn back into XI? I have played for...must have been around 5-6 years (mostly on and off, but with quite a few months at a time play sessions) and I always left the game and came back to it a little while after.

When abyssea first came out... I really hadn't much of an idea about it, I promptly took a break and came back after the second expansion was released. At first I was amazed about it, the leveling and such, but it seemed too easy, and I again, promptly took another leave. I came back...maybe 2 more times for around 2 weeks-2 months or so and now here I am, again. I tried to play over the summer, but I would just start my sub and cancel shortly thereafter. Now, here I am again, looking for some MMO to pass the time, and unable to find one, so my eyes turn towards XI sitting there on my desktop.

Not to make this sound like a complaint... apologies if it does, I didn't intend it to turn out that way. What I'm wondering is, any of you guys n' gals have the same trouble? And if so, what do you do...because right now I haven't a clue. Do I come back and risk the sub fee for either 2 weeks+ of playing (hell maybe it will be one of my 4 month runs if I'm lucky...probably not though) or do I decline and simply keep an eye on the game, checking every now and then?

Historically, i've had alot of breaks in this game. Started shortly after the ps2 release and was playing consistently until ToAu, after that i would take weeks off at a time. Something happened in my life and i quit the game for around 2 years.......until the monkey jumped on my back again. I still take breaks now and then, but i have no intention of blowing the game off for years again. I have no problem paying the fee, and even in the past when i wouldnt be on for 2 months i still paid, knowing this game's going to suck me back in.

I've actually taken a few steps backwards really. I had been working on old missions/ranks/quests that @75 could be a pain, but at 90/95 are pretty easy on your own. Dynamis is my new solo activity. There's so much to do in this game, unless you dislike the format of the game you can always find something to do. The same ol' grind can put a sour taste in your mouth pretty quickly, but it's fairly easy to keep it somewhat fresh.

Hanging around forums and whatnot "checking every now and then" will probably only give the monkey some traction so it can climb up on top of your back though.....cold turkey's the way to go.
