Sup my Vana'diel players and SE Development Team, Community Team, NPCs, Chocobos, NMs, and other major influences of Final Fantasy XI.

I got a question: Whatever happened to adding Jeuno [S] city for the Wings of the Goddess expansion? Yes, I know most of you guys are thinking the same thing or probably saying "Uh? Seriously? That's so 2007!" But I am just curious on why the city wasn't implemented?

Now, let's say if it was intentionally left out, are there any plans on creating a new add-on(s) related to or giving access to the new city? Will this city have some uniqueness that will allow for ventures to pursue going back into the past and doing more venturing? For example: Challenging quest that will lead to fighting powerful HNMs, Quest that will lead to unique items, armor, and/or even exchanging items for ancient currency. How about about a Relic Weapon/Armor upgrade related to items that can be obtain only through the quest from Jeuno [S] that will upgrade the armor and relic weapons to their most powerful potential at level 99? Eat on it, Drink on it, Sleep on it. Thanks. :)

Same reason Tavnazia didnt get added: Budget cuts and XIV.

In the Wings of the Goddess cutscenes, the Jeuno they showed was the regular Jeuno. The skies were the ones of standard Vana'dielian Jeuno. They probably never intended Jeuno to be open to the public, as I don't believe it was at that time, according to the Crystal War history.

I don't care about Jeuno in the past, but I would kill baby Chocobos (mmm... Kazham Firespit Chocobo) to be able to go to Tavnazia [S].

I don't care if this is another expansion, I want it. I forget the exact lore, but if I'm not mistaken, you'd be able to meet a bunch of NPCs that you do while playing through CoP. Of course, maybe I'm just being nostalgic again.

It's to prevent paradox temptation.

Same, but the actual Tavnazia, not the Safehold. That would be amazing, and that alone would make WotG worth playing.

I think the problem with Tavnazia is that its destruction occurs during the events of WotG (I assume, not too far into the story but I can already tell it's coming). So if it was added they would either have to remove access after its destruction for consistency in the story or screw consistency.

I had that thought when WotG first came out. It'd be cool to go back to when galka had QSC, because can't you imagine that little squared area of it in Altepa, being an AH and people just afking at it? lol

Definitely a problem, thus why I'd be more or less fine if they recycled the Safehold if they absolutely couldn't make it work. Of course, we could go further back in time or something, that has potential weirdness.

But ultimately, paradoxes can be avoided. Plus if access to the area required CoP completion and most of WotG completion, you could conceivably even have some sort of storyline where you do something to prepare certain young citizens in the past for some dangerous event that happens after the events of CoP (after this X megaevent I can't tell you about, and you can't tell me about until after the event, there will be Y event that is potentially more dangerous that we have to prepare for!).

If you also are set to visit the Safehold, you could also prepare them for twenty years of isolation.

The only major concern I have for temptation for paradoxes would have to be:

Windurst quest line definitely mentions the preamble to it.

Jeuno (S) was never going to happen, it was not in the original zone listing that came with the CD. (It was not until Abyssea that zones were added via download.)

Tavnazia would have been a hornet's nest had they added it in because at some point when doing the mission, you would have been no longer able to access the zone. People would have had conniptions over that sort of thing, which is why they probably didn't add it in.

I agree with have a Tavnazia [S]. That would be incredible. I believe there can be more things to do during the Crystal War era.

Jeuno [S] was never planned to be added, so I'm not sure where anyone got that idea. What DOES annoy me though, is how cryptic some of the later WOTG missions involving going to jeuno are. Too many of them don't tell you where you're really supposed to go, and you can be in Batallia, told to go to jeuno, and not realize you have to go to Saramugue Champaign [S] and check the jeuno door there. Why they couldn't make it so you could just check any of the doors, I don't know...

Honestly, I don't think that it would be possible to make a Tavnazia that would live up to the legends of the place in the players' heads. The place has been built up so much that anything short of miraculous would be a letdown. Some things just work better as legends because then it becomes as amazing as the player can imagine.

Well I have yet to complete advancing the CoP or WoG expansions but could it be possible that Jueno [S] could be involved somehow in this rumored "Last Stand" of which I keep hearing? Anything is possible but I wouldnt be suprised if I'm right.

I should point out something called "The Last Stand" is already in the data files.it's in ROM\26\120.DAT and currently seems to contain nothing but Moogles for monster/NPC entries (though this data does change when zones get introduced)

The Last Stand has been in the Area Names stringtables for a long time.

You'd have to go farther back than the Crystal War, because during the quest lines, we see the destruction of Tavnazia from the shore of Valkurm Dunes (S). Meaning, it should be gone for anyone who's past that point.

I considered marking it for spoilers, but we see Tavnazia destroyed in the opening movie, so it's common knowledge. You've already seen it in FMV from within the city itself. The explosion from the shore of Valkurm is just a neat touch to the quest line, in my opinion.

That actually sounds pretty cool... have high end monsters lurk in the ruins and remains of Tavnazia, let us explore the destroyed city (if it's more than just a giant crater). That would be an amazing zone for the dungeon crawl thing, if that's what it is.
