So I was doing VW today and had my light spirit out on lightday to do some back up cure/buffing for my party while I was weaken and something caught my attention. So I did the test again on darkday and my dark spirit didn't have a perp cost either. Even had refresh at 1 mp per tick. Tested perp cost randomly with diabolos on dark day with 3 refresh per tick.

Gear that mattered consisted of full SMN AF3 +2, caller's pendant, hq elemental stave (nq light staff on light spirit) and moonshade earring with Refresh +1.

So pretty much if you're decked out on your SMN already and still care about spirits, at least they don't cost anything on the corresponding day and you can remove your merits off spirit perp if you have any there.

Well technically they do have a cost and are not 'free'. A +2 Crown give a 2 mp per tic, the natural 2 mp tic a smn has and the 1 mp tic from your earring means u should have a minimum of 5mp per tic auto-refresh so if you were only getting one, accounting the minus to perpet cost all ur gear gives u, it still prob cost at least 15 mp per tic. And thats only if I didnt miss one of the auto-refreshes. On top of that there is a -3 to perpet cost on the corresponding day. Adding all that up with a 1 tic refresh remaining there is an 17mp perpet tic. If you have avatar's favor going there would be a further reduction yet too.

So "no perpet cost" is not accurate by any means. It just means that you need to deck out your smn with -perpet cost which you should do anyway. The smn on my main char actually gets a +2 auto-refresh tic even with his most costly avatars due to his gear. So by this logic all avatars are 'free' if you take the time to gear ur smn.

Plus what smn merits spirit perpet cost reduction when there are better things to merit such as avatar att and matt

I'm not sure if you are trying to correct me sincerely or find a way to make an attack. I admit, my post put into simple terms. I'm aware that it's impossible to completely erase the perp cost to no less than 1, no matter how much perp gear one wears. I'm not geared towards reducing my elemental spirits either, it was just an interesting find.

And to those that mattered, they could have broke it down the moment I mentioned the gear I was wearing but... yeah I guess thank you for breaking it down for those who don't.

It was not an attack, just pure correction. Alot of aby smns dont understand perpet cost. I have met a few 90 smn with +2s who had no idea what they were talkin about when it came to perpet cost, or even what perpet cost even was. Sadly lol. So I wasnt sure if you were just confused by it and I didnt want other abysmn to get confused either is all

lol fair enough. Been a SMN for over 3 years so I understand perp cost. But your'e right, there aren't many that do now.
