View Full Version : Daylight vs. Nightfall ~ a possible new trait idea?

I'd like to suggest a new series of traits which are affected by the "time" of day. Namely, day or night.

The original idea came when I was thinking about Paladins and Darkknights specifically. I had wanted Paladin to gain a moderate regen effect during the day. DarkKnight would gain a moderate refresh effect during the night hours.

Both would be stackable with other types of regen/refresh effects.

I had also thought to expand to other sphere of effect, such as light magic and dark magics.

Still a much better idea than Scarlet Diarrhea.

Or they can just continue doing what they've been doing for awhile: Day/Night related stats on gear.

I'd rather they fix the bumpmap lighting on the day/night transitioning before ever consider job traits based on it. The second that game clock hits night, it's day-to-night in under a second as far as the lighting is concerned.

interesting idea... and looking at the fact that drk's "Dont cast" enough spells to warrent a lot things mp wise.
Though i do like the idea of spells being affected by the time of day. (since drk's dont tend to worry about weather and day bonus's I could be wrong.. but highly doubt it.)

Anything dictated by time of day will suck as much as Ruinous Omen does during the wrong time (and sometimes at the right time too).

Do you know how magic works in this game?

"Ready?"
"No guys, let's wait for nighttime for our awesome effects!"

What's so original about an idea that does the same as existing gear, except as a trait...

Vampire cloak
[Body] All Races
Cannot equip headgear DEF: 65
Daytime: Adds "Regen" effect
Nighttime: Adds "Refresh" effect
Lv. 70 DRK

You don't have to sacrifice anything in order to utilize it.

This idea is bad and you should feel bad for posting in implied support for it.

You don't have to sacrifice anything in order to utilize it.

You'd have to gear PLD to cover the missing Regen during the 8/24 hours of nighttime, and DRK for the missing Refresh 16/24 daytime... so you're sacrificing either way... (Fringe logic ftw)

WHM has Auto-Regen because they cast so many cure spells they got 'poisoned' with the stuff. SMN has Auto-Refresh because they summon so much their bodies are partially in the astral plane. (Which also makes them sterile, which is the reason it's called forbidden magic...)
PLD has Auto-Refresh because RDMs have cast the spell on them so much they got sick of it and made a pact with a demon to maintain a global Refresh spell on all PLDs. (Unfortunately, pacts with demons rarely end well for the pactmaker, and the demon gave all other RDM spells to every other job as well...)

In conclusion: 8 hours a day of 20hp/tick Regen, 8 hours a day of 5mp/tick Refresh, 8 hours a day of 250TP/tic Regain.
