14-day free trial

I have a friend looking to try FFXI. Is the 14-day free trial still available from somewhere? All the official sites say that it's unavailable. If it is infact discontinued, are there any alternatives?

There removed it for now due to all the gil seller spam in game, abusing the free trial.
To be honest I'm glad there got rid of it, because I almost quit because of them gil seller spam.

I came to ffxi to enjoy the game, and getting up to 20+ gil seller spam a day is not nice

God forbid they couldn't have put basic restrictions in place for trial users like limiting the amount of messages you can send per minute, and preventing trades....
