So I'm cancelling my account because I won't be able to play for a while. I figured I'd submit the cancellation so I don't forget to before the end of the 30 day payment period. Well, now I can't login and I still have like 15~20 days remaining on the previous payment period. Just a heads up cause this seems like b.s. I'm kinda concerned about reactivation as I don't want to be double billed. I will be contacting S-E support, but this is the kinda crap that people should be made more aware of and unless they're gonna issue partial refunds does not seem reasonable in the least.

Ahem ...

There's two concepts here:

Deactivating: Blocking the auto renewal of the contents so next month billing cycle you lose access to the game but isn't billed.

Canceling: You're telling the service provider that you no longer want to have any business with them and is prompting for data deletion/access cancellation. So that's what you will get if you cancel your account.

You're not supposed to cancel your account, you're supposed to cancel the content IDs (now called "continuous options" in the SE account management). If you cancel your characters, then you can still use them until your date of billing.

I'm kinda concerned about reactivation as I don't want to be double billed. You will not be double billed. What gives you the idea you would be, especially given that all reactivation "double billings" were not in fact double billings in the old system, and the new system doesn't work that way anymore in the first place? It was specifically designed to avoid the appearance of this. I have never seen SE fail to own up to a true billing error, either.

What used to happen: SE only processed payments at the end of the month under the old system. When you reactivate, they wait until the end of the month to charge you for that month, and then they charged the next month at the same time. You're paying for two months, so it wasn't a double billing.

Under the new system, when you reactivate, it simply charges you at that time and sets your next billing date 30 days later. This way you only see one charge at a time and there is no illusion of double billing.
