View Full Version : Suggestion : Linkpearl Animator

Goblins have a linkpearl embedded in their ear, allowing them to communicate with other goblins anywhere.

Could this be applied to Puppetmaster too? Players would obtain a key item "Linkpearl Animator", allowing them direct communication with their automaton. It would allow PUPs to use maneuvers without an animator and equip stat ammo items such as the Demonry Core. This feature would only be possible on main job PUPs of lvl 50+.

This linkpearl was embedded in your skull by the fabled goblin surgeon Franken Steinox. It allows you to relay orders to your automaton directly.
You think you hear voices sometimes as well...

Nah but in all seriousness I like the idea, they are mocking us by giving us a cool item for pup but we can't use it 'cause we gotta wear a stupid animator.

Not to mention we can actually use our very high throwing skills. Granted, it'll be difficult hitting the target since we're trained NOT to hit it... but we must have the 2nd best throwing skill in the game for a reason!

I like the idea but... where would you equip the linkshell animator? In which slot? Don't think it's gonna happen.
Plus in all honesty it's not like there are any gamebreaking ammo pieces equippable by PUP, wouldn't really change things from night to day, would it?

While your idea is really nice tbh I'd rather have them release better animators. You ear me SE? BETTER animators, not stuff like Deluxe Animator >_______>

It wouldn't prevent equipping an animator still, but you could choose between [DEX+4 Automaton: HP&MP Bonus] and [DEX+4 Pet:Accuracy+4] without it locking maneuvers.

If you leveled PUP when the max level was still 75, you could get Animator +1 (DEX+4 Automaton:HP&MP Bonus) by doing a number of einherjar runs for therion ichor, which is superior over the Deluxe Animator (DEX+6). Unless ofcourse there's an as-of-yet-secret effect on the Deluxe Animator that beats A+1.

Unfortunately, like the mythic weapons, the animator +1 is now a thing of the past (unless you pre-ordered it.)

Or, just give us the ability to turn our animator into the key item, but you can only have 1 at a time.

1) You want to use pup as a sub? trade in the regular animator and all jobs can use the key item
2) want to use that pimp +1? Trade it in and it gives you the regular animator back
3) SE adds an actually relevent animator? Trade it in, get your animator +1 back etc. etc.

Personally I will take dex +6 over dex +4 , hp +10~50 or w/e animator +1 adds. Neither is that spectacular or noticably more efficent/affective of a choice.

Maybe that is a good Job Trait on way to 99. where animator is no longer needed.

Well not necessarily, they just greatly reduced the gil cost of the Lamps, now you can get one with just 3-4 friends and destroy most (all?) of the Einherjar chambers.

You need at least 5 friends, due to the 6 player minimum, but indeed, with each paying 10k, you should have a decent amount of ichor each time. But I'm not sure if there's anything else still worth it at lvl 99, other then the Animator +1, so those either are good friends, or you're lucky to find enough wild PUPs.

Since SE already talked about adding stuff to the sub slot for H2H this might be a viable choice, but only time will tell.

That's also an option, although it would have to be a new animator to avoid slot complications. It's probably a lot easier adding a sub-slot animator then reworking the code to let ranged-slot animators be equipped in sub-slot.

A compact animator attached to the wrist for easy access.
Allows orders to be more directly relayed to the automaton.
Lv. 50 PUP

Alt-alternate option: all animators are made into sub-slot items, but we'd lose the ability to dual wield with /NIN or /DNC. We'd (re)gain the ability to throw items, and it's not like PUPs have much need to dual wield anyway.

Having differing animators for different slots would have the bonus of allowing Puppet Masters to get in on the action of H2H sub slot items that Monks might get. That said, I think it would be better to just be able to hold another throw slot item in the sub slot when using H2H. I'm not sure what the consequences would be however.
