Well I know this is kinda far fetched but!
Is there any chance in the near future that we would see a tax refund from the purchases we made on the Auction House?
I would be willing to take a payment in the form of a winning mog bonanza ticket :)
Just wondering.

lol i like this idea, sometimes puttin items up on AH could cost 20-50-100k, if that stacks up after a while of puttin stuff up, at the end of the year have a tax income! haha then we rich again! but i dont think it'll happen xD might have some sort of effect on AH/prices etc. i like the idea tho, atleast if u kno ur not gonna win the bonanza, u have somethin to look forward to at the end of a period of time, tax refunds! xD

That would defeat the purpose of the AH tax. So no, this is a terrible idea.

I don't know if this is what he meant, but.
In basically every other MMO I"ve played (Which is basically every subscription based MMO out there, and some free ones) if your auction sold, you were refunded the deposit fee. On the other hand, typically the AH got a % cut of your sale.
So, you get your good with your bad.

Maybe this is my ignorance talking, but does anybody know the reason for the AH tax to begin with? As far as I can see, chocobo riding costs, AH taxes and etc go in a bottomless SE hole where people never see their gil again. Just wondering.

This prevent some people jacking-up the prices... You have to have some ways to passively control the transactions. For example, someone can buy all Grim Cuirass and jack-up 20% with no fear that all these are NOT going to be sold.
What we have now with the AH tax is fine and it's exactly the same thing in our real life trading.
Of course, selling 1000g crystal stack with 500g tax that's seriously wrong...
