View Full Version : How about a jump animation WS

Dragoons have always been defined by their leaping prowess, why not add a new weaponskill that showed it off? We still have 9 more levels worth of skillups left I'm sure there is room for at least 1 more weaponskill.

I've always joked that Dragoon's Weaponskills were just like Zoolander's modeling looks, they're all the same thing. lol

Double Thrust = Double Poke
Thunder Thrust = Thunder Poke
Raiden Thrust = Thunder Poke II
Leg Sweep = (ok this one is the exception)
Penta Thrust = Penta Poke
Vorpal Thrust = Vorpal Poke
Skewer = Triple Poke
Wheeling Thrust = Spinning Poke
Impulse Drive = Useless Poke
Sonic Thrust = Lazer Beam Poke
Drakesbane = Flashy Poke
Geirskogul = Useless Poke II
Camlann's Torment = Poke of Death

I think we're due for a jumping weaponskill. I'm up for anything but and interesting concept would be adding a twist to the normal ws calculations and having damage vary based on how many jumps you have active. In order for it to not be overpowered have the extra jumps add in a fraction of their normal power (say 15%) and reduce the timmers on the jumps used by 15% as well.

Just something I've wanted to see since I've unlocked the job years ago. ^^ Let me know what you guys think. Feel free to add on to the idea, or make criticism where it's due.

Drakesbane isn't the first 3 hits of penta followed by wheeling thrust, it's "Magnum"!

I never understood why sword users got a jump WS (Savage Blade) and Drgs didn't. But I am liking my new AoE WS (Sonic Thrust).

Your sig badass, what programs did you use to make it? I used photoshop, ffximodel viewer, and altana viewer to make mine. I just could never get cool background effects to work, share with me your secrets!.

And a jumping type ws would be awesome. Just change the final hit of drakesbane into a jumping animation, but keep the wheeling thrust animation with it.

A Jump ws would be awesome. I agree that its strange seeing sword with a jump animation ws and not dragoon. I'm not sure about the damage varying based on how many jumps you have active (if by active you mean ready to be used). It would stop Draoons from using their jumps if it meant quite a bit of extra ws damage. Perhaps damage of the ws could be boosted by equipment that increases Jump. Question is would it only be equipment that increased "Jump" or equipment that boosts a different jump, or maybe all the above? :o

This sig was actually made by the legendary Krilldog. Although his site no longer exists for sig requests, I can say that he was very good with Photoshop. One day I hope I will actually own Ares and wyvern's colors will be customizable so I could actually look like my DRG in the sig.

Yeah I was thinking we should get some kind of Jump WS as our final one. Or maybe even Freya style and jump then toss the lance (or lances) down.

Using jump boosting gear to increase damage would also add a bit of extra kerpow to using Ryunohige again since the spirit and soul jumps do not get any benifit from it's boosts.

There's a .dat currently that shows a jump dust cloud animation followed by the sound of a weapon being drawn and thrown like angon, then a large explosion followed by the sounding of a landing animation and weapon being sheathed sound effect. Sounds like an alternate Super Jump animation like Soul/Spirit Jump are to Jump/High Jump.

I'd love it if the final-super-awesome polearm WS ended up being Nibelung Valesti from the first Valkyrie Profile game(the last hit with the summoned spear, anyway). Maybe change that aura the spear gets to look more dragony instead of eagle-ish.

A jump based WS would be a really nice way to finish up skill-ups, if they give a WS in the 90-99 range
of course they'll probably add quested and gear based WS, but I don't think they can add many more "standard issue" WS after we hit cap (afaik lvl99 is the max the game can handle; can't go into triple digit levels, right?)

Super Jump's Spirit/Soul Jump equivalent is in the dats and it appears to be a Super Jump+Lance Throw+Explosion+Landing animation.
