I'm wondering if everything is on time for the version update, not sure if we are still getting it in september, just news about it died down over the last 2weeks alot, wondering if there's a bug or something slowing down the development?

Apparently the update is going to happen on September 19th.

It's going to happen on the 19th (this coming Monday). The lack of update notes is somewhat worrisome, and makes me think that ToAU will not be getting the promised re-work this update.

I don't remember hearing anything about a promised rework.

Not that it wouldn't be 100% welcome in my book

Edit: I do remember the pandemonium warden pop item drop rate being increased now that i think about it

Unless they do a rapid fire on the update notes in the next three days, the update looks positively anemic. I was looking forward to having friends come back to do salvage too. Sigh, maybe in another five months...

I'm not sure about a general rework, but they did say they were going to have salvage gear augmented like sky gear sometime soon. I hope it's this update but I'm not holding my breath.

Some comments they made earlier this year were along the lines of, "We're going to re-work RotZ this update, and next version update we're going to re-work ToAU." It looks like it was either mistranslated or hasn't happened.

The one he's referring to:

In conjunction with the version update scheduled for Sep. 19, 2011, the stackable numbers for the following items have been increased from 12 to 99.

During the maintenance operation to implement this change, the listing of these items in auction houses will be restricted between Sep. 16, 2011 1:00 (PDT) and Sep. 19, 2011 12:00 (PDT). These restrictions will not affect the bidding process or interfere with the removal of items that have already been listed. The ability to check a listed item’s “Sales Status” will also still be possible.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

Update notes don't come before the update, except for the small teasers we usually get beforehand. However, I believe there is a post somewhere with the test server contents which is more or less what will be in the update.

The update does include lv95 cap, all of the spells and job abilities previously mentioned in staff posts, the new voidwatch content, the walk of echoes revamp, dreamworld dynamis revamp, maps in dynamis, and random other little stuff.

ah, here we go. Read the threads here (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/forums/83-Testing-in-Progress) for stuff that's supposed to be in the next update.

Alhanelem

There isn't really "a lot less than normal." there's tons of information in those posts.

Posts with little splash pictures on the official website may be lacking, but since they just link to the forums now, which already has plenty of information, I don't really think it's a big deal. Just my opinion.

The time the servers are down has absolutely zero to do with the contents of the update. Both on the server and on the client, its just a software patch. The reason maintenance usually take hours is because of the work they do that is not related to a patch of the game.

Why are people talking as if we don't know what's in the patch anyway? Anyone on the test server will know most of it, and the threads in the testing-in-progress section of the forums cover most of it.

It looks like they're missing "Daily Reward System" and "Synthesis: Skill cap adjustment," which might have been scrapped thanks to people being 'tards.

Other things that they haven't specifically mentioned but are minor enough that they could throw it in at the last moment:
* New summonable NPC areas (where can we not summon them? Abyssea?)
* Quest reward tweaks

Keep in mind that some of the "adjustments" listed under September in that timeline may have actually happened in August. Losing out on an earth crystal per day in my d-box and people losing a skill cap adjustment for us isn't really that much of a loss. They're hitting all the major points.

Something short of bringing the level cap all the way back to 75, I can't imagine anything that would constitute a "mass quitting" of the players.

Who's talking about players quitting. The situations with geodes right now is a small scale example. Because people know they will need 40 of them for the new Magian Trials they are buying them out like crazy and the prices are rising.

If SE suddenly announced that they were raising the caps on sub-crafts to 80, people would not buy any of the few things that are still T0, for instance. I don't expect to find out about craft limit increases until the day of the patch.

You want some examples of economical ramifications?
1+2-as mentioned: geodes and crafting lvl caps
3-Details on Salvage changes, could cause the price of the upgrade mats to skyrocket again

4-old change, but an example nonetheless, Thief's Knife change, caused the price to plummet from 25 mil down to 100k.

What do you speculate will happen that will cause possible economical ramifications?Salvage augments giving people a reason to do salvage again and making the gear worthwhile again could easilly hike the prices or Ori Ingots, Imp Wootz Ingots, Bloodwood Lumber, Marid Hides, Wamoura Cloths and Imperial Gold Pieces.
Certain new gear depending on ease of obtaining will make other bought/rafted gear obsolete. For example, Dusk Gloves + and Dusk Ledelsens +1 are required (1 of the 2 for Rdm and both for cor) to cap Haste, however in the dats there are pieces of gear that replace both of these and cap haste for both jobs. Dusk+1 Hands and feet currently hover around 1mil and 800k. Those could plumit depending on the ease of which the new items are obtained.

I know taking a moment to actually ponder matters is challening for the average brain, korpg, but I would suggest giving it a go. Maybe it will lead to you not being ridiculed in 95% of the topics you post in.
Would you like me to provide sources for my data btw? Sadly I can not. Deers ate it all, mistaking it for crackers.

Nobody needs to be bullied off a forum and anyone who feel the need to bully anyone is the one who needs to leave. You cannot decide who everyone wants and doesn't want, nor can you do anything about it if you could. This is why the ignore list exists. If someone bothers you, you ignore list them. Just do it, instead of making a big production out of how much you hate somebody.

OPs don't make the rules. The people aggressively attacking me had just as much to do with theads getting locked.

It is in fact a rule that you cannot disallow specific people from participating (in fact, practically anything you can imagine is against the rules because they're so broad...). In the interest of being the better one, this is all I have to say on that subject. Use the ignore list and move on.

There is one rule I found though, let me quote it:

* Posting that constitutes discrimination against another forum member or group (also including forming groups for the purpose of discrimination), insults, slander, libel, harassment of a group or individual.

I would consider anyone bashing members from other websites (websites which are the best obviously) to be in violation of this rule, and as such will have any post violating said rule report spammed and deleted. (Since that's all it takes)

Umm... what? If you're suggesting that the maintenance is shorter because they've been leveraging the test server to address issues and such, then I totally agree with what you're suggesting- No, it's not a coincedence that the maintenance is shorter because of hte existence of the test server.

What I'm trying to convey is that it's NOT anything to do with the amount of 'stuff' in the update. They have had maintenances of varying lengths of time regardless of how much new stuff is in a patch.
