Message boards?

Tossing around this little idea in my head and curious about feedback. expect it to need some serious revamping though, and not because I haven't slept in good day or so. But I'm thinking we could add a secondary thing kinda like the Auction House where one could put up "flyers" of things like linkshell recruitment, or social linkshell's that wouldn't mind getting more members, which I think would be especially useful for newbies if it could be categorized effectively enough.

But let's not stop their ladies and gents, could make it to where there are 'temp flyers' for things like seal runs, mega boss wins, or needing a thf for TH, or a war for red trigger proc's. kinda like how FF12's Mark system worked, but categorized like the Auction house is, and the flyer would have the name of the person that posted it so you could send them a tell or a message for them to get back to.


I've only thought of this little gimmick recently and it's only in the child stages. But if anyone could think of a way this could be effective and perhaps revamped to actually be really useful for the playerbase, I would appreciate it. I just really hate seeing newbies shouting in beginner towns for help because they're lost and confused. really think something like this could improve that, even if only a little bit. that and it'd be shitload more efficient then sitting in town for shouts or shouting for hours for people, granted that a timeframe could be added.....hmm.....well anyway, lemme know if you guys can play with this idea a bit. I'ma go pass out and look over this when I wake up Dx

I love that idea, no more need read zillion shout =) Less time to waste staying in a town shouting for something you need.

I mean look at what SE give to us, forum where we can talk about game DEV, convenient for them of course, but what about us? Why can't we have our place where we can announce our need too? I know is not everyone that have access to a computer (even if that part is hard to believe) so why not implement a message board in game? I am sure that would be less bandwidth then zillion shout we have to read that clearly not interesting anyone.

Well would be nice to have it, or even without it would be great to have something like a message board in game, i am sure PS2/Xbox/PC and so on would be super happy, not to mention the reduction of the spam.

I feel Veteran players don't need this. If they can't figure out how to get people together to do seal runs, mega-bosses, whatever, then I have serious questions about their abilities in general. However, if it is attached to the AH and all the AH's are now connected, I'd like to see it new player focused where they can somehow attach a note to a crafted item they need which is not on the AH. Veterans can use it also. But, again Veterans usually have connections to people who can craft. Perhaps, there could also be part of the board where Veterans can post to offer assistance on things like the limit breaks or missions.

I know we have few newbies but the majority of focus has been high levels. I'd like to send a little love to new players.

I bet you anything a lots of people end up to help someone just because he annoyed to see the same 'help me out' shout for 2hours long, that same dude could have been helped true a better way, and he could have done better in game then shouting for 2h.

Veteran's could use it to find a shell for stuff. like Limbus for things like brutal earring and boxer's mantle (if there are folks that still do that these days) or for working on that empyrean weapon. Hell, even for those who're on a new server and wanna find a shell. I need to put less focus on ls's though. I mean, I can see this being used for finding a crafter. seems like no one crafts Seer's set items on Asura these days, which is really useful for up-and-coming mage jobs. (besides rdm since they can't wear it for some god-forsaken reason)

I'm mainly looking for a way to set it where making pick-up groups, ls recruiting or finding, crafter finding. would be easier then shouting in town. Figure this would lower congestion of places like port jeuno since they can just post a flyer and then head out for a bit of random adventuring til they receive some form of feedback.

have the flyer be taken down depending on where it was posted. like Ls recruitment flyers last a few days, while crafter flyers come down after they are properly responded to, maybe even make it to where you can put the money you'd pay for the item you want or something on with the flyer and the person in question would automatically receive it by trading the item to the board. (I usually try to tip someone if they craft an item for me)

these are all little ideas though, anyone else got any other ideas we could possibly use this for?
edit: or maybe improve on my ideas at all?, I know there are some really imaginative people out there that could improve upon this like 10x over.

now that I'm a bit more awake, I can see how trading an item to it would be stupid, just be turning it into another Auction House at that rate Dx
