Are they dead or is it not said what their fate was?

I know the player's alter-ego failed against Promathia. But I can't find any information on what specifically happened to the character or the other champions.

I assume anyone going past your topic is expecting spoilers.

And I also assume that the other champions were either dead and not worth caring about, or absorbed by Promathia. After all, why would she only absorb Seth-guy for power and not all others with good powers?

Another funny way to view it, you could say the "players" had enough and quit so the characters who fought Promathia mysteriously vanished.

Everyone who made up the CoP cast and ventured to Al'taieu were absorbed into Promathia.

Prishe was the only survivor.

So is Abyssea essentially the Chains of Promathia timeline in another dimension with a different outcome?

Also, does that mean you the character in the dimension we play is stronger than all those champions plus your alter ego and Promathia combined?

Yes, Abyssea is merely a parallel universe in which you fail to beat Promathia.

The explanation given for your ability to surpass your Abyssean self involves the dimensional transfer process wherein Vana'dielians grow stronger for some reason. I liken it to how Superman gets power from the yellow sun on Earth.

I have not completed the 'story-line' but, I had the thought of us, adventurers, being these Champions...

Not really sure of the question here!

Yes.

Spoilers ahead.

I repeat.

Spoilers ahead.

You've been warned.

Abyssea's storyline boils down to "What if the Adventurers who took on Promathia at the end of CoP... lost?".

Every single Adventurer tried to fight Promathia and was defeated/absorbed into the vengeful God.

The reason WE are now able to deal with it is that apparently by crossing the dimensional barrier, Abysseans become weakened, whereas Vana'dielians become empowered - represented by our ability to take in Cruor buffs and infuse our super-charged being with Atma.

If you think back to the CoP cutscenes, everyone basically said that us taking on Promathia head-on was a gigantic risk and probably wouldn't work, so it makes sense that we were just on the borderline of being capable of beating Promathia in our own world.

You know, there are 'spoiler-tags' now! D:

But yeah, I always did sort of know that from what they showed out-of-the-game even. And I do like it, though, it was pulled off incredibly well to the off-note.

Or, in other words, this should have been done in a vastly greater scale. If comparison is needed, then think of Wings of The Goddess for instance. It should not have been a 'battle-field' story. It out-right mocks Chains of Promathia I daresay!

But oh well, it has been done did it... I still keep my hopes up for some thing really good that could be spawned from all of this together!

Givin the massive amount of TP moves shinryu has and how damaging they are, they did well in displaying the raw power he would have if said people were absorbed as if you for example try to fight shinryu without crour buffs there would be no way you would win, because you'll bascily get one shotted by everything.

Only reason why our Abyssian selves failed to beat Promethia was because we didn't have brews.

True story.

So what is Shinryu then?

Why can't we fight this Promathia that has absorbed our alter egos?

if you have ever seen dragon ball z you will notice that when characters fuse thier apprence changes dramaticly, i assume it's the same for shinryu, as prishe did say he absorbed slethius who did have wings have alot of power him self.

So then Shinryu is Promathia? Sounds a little too much of a guess to me.

Yeah, Shinryu is the form that Promathia took upon absorbing the Champions.

Pretty much everything has been said now :3

If you're up for some sense of actual accomplishment in Abyssea, go try beating Shin without a brew. He's not that bad :D

Oh. Well it's stupid it's name is Shinryu then.

SE wanted to throw in a recurring Final Fantasy enemy and this was the perfect opportunity.

Someone mentioned fusion and that's pretty much what they're running with here. Promathia plus the combined essences of Sel'theus, Phoenix, the Adventurer, Shikaree Z, Louverance, Ulmia, Jabbos, Tenzen and the Chebukki trio become Shinryu.

Twilight gods apparently don't spare the younglings either.
