Not showing up as in game for Steam.

Whenever I launch the game it says on steam that I am playing it for a split second, and then goes back to me not playing the game. I bought the game on steam, so it is fully integrated and is not a "Non-steam game". I was wondering if anyone knows any solutions for this because I have seen people properly showing that they are playing the game constantly.
