Increase the range of Devotion please!

This job ability is kinda neat, but it's also maddening how often I get "out of range" messages while using it. Can the range be increased, to be maybe somewhat closer to the range of cure spells?

I want to say that this was suggested many, many moons ago and that it was shot down because some bro on the development team wanted Devotion to require movement/endangerment on part of the White Mage.

I really hope I'm just imagining this, though.

Something from the developers was posted in the big WHM thread saying something similar about self-target AoE enhancing spells - they made them self-target only because they were "so powerful" and wanted their use to be a risk. It wouldn't surprise me if they still saw Devotion in the same light. Completely absurd if you ask me. I would also like Devotion's range increased.

"So powerful"? Devotion isn't that great. I mean, it's a couple hundred MP every 12:50 to 20:00. Hardly a game breaker.

I actually 5/5 Devotion, since I enjoy being able to give a boost to party member's MP when they're low. If someone asks me to Protectra the party I can eat the MP cost of Accession for the five extra defense.

Still, 250 MP (or a bit extra when I bother to gear for HP) isn't exactly game breaking enough to march into battle for it, unless the fight is a joke, which it often is when I'm around. :p

Yeah, Devotion isn't what it was back when Tier II merits were introduced. 250-350 MP every ten minutes isn't a huge bonus at all, considering the MP recovery that is possible now.

Sadly, I consider it as better to 5/5 then any other merit I have a choice about (since as a White Mage I'm contractually obligated to 5/5 Shellra for the 3% MDB it provides over Shell V).

I totally agree and I'm 5/5 on Devotion and Shellra V as well.

It's safe to say that I am looking forward to the update on the effects of merited abilities and whatnot.

I think SE will get around to making Protectra merits useful around the time they make Benediction able to remove joke ailments like song debuffs.
