Why is it that job leveling is many times faster than it originally was, yet the speed of crafting remains static after all these years? The of synthing has two causes.

First, the amount of time it takes to craft something is pretty long. Why? I can understand long casting time for powerful spells. Yet no matter what you craft, it always takes the same amount of time, be it a level 1 synth or a level 100 synth. For one-time, non-stackable synths, this isn't a problem. But let's say you're making Shihei from scratch, synthing both the Bast Parchment and Black Oils. Consider that worst case, one must synth 3 times for 99 tools, and then 12 times for a stack of 99s. You do the math; it takes a long time. The same holds true for other expendables like oils, powders, and ammo. With Synergy, you're actively working with the furnace, but with Synthesis, you're just passively standing there watching the same long animation over and over again.

The second is that players must wait between synths, what for? Powerful spells have a recast for game balance, but no matter what you craft, the wait is always the same. Standing around and waiting for the timer to wear down isn't fulfilling and doesn't serve any purpose.

Can the crafting timer and recast time be substantially reduced?

This should be in the crafting forum. People need to stop treating general like it's the only forum that exists. It gets flooded with everything.

Can the crafting timer and recast time be substantially reduced?I suppose there's only two possible reasons for it. One would be time sink. The other is because of server load, which might not have a thing to do with crafting but I know many of the hassles we endure to this day was because of server stability problems from the start, masses of players spamming stuff because it had no wait timers or whatever.

I like the time it takes to craft just fine. I'm just not a fan of the long timer for another synth when I'm making ninjitsu tools or ammo, not to mention how I despise when I choose the wrong crystal and get a synthesis canceled message, and forced to wait several seconds as if I had just finished a synth. It typically happens when I've been planted in the same spot crafting for a hour after having spent some hours running around collecting materials. That stuff will make you space out and all as it's mind numbingly boring to collect everything but the kitchen sink to craft consumables, and then spend hours of waiting to be gifted with the right to do another synthesis.

Snorrrrrrrrrrre. How about a crafting quest for master crafters to lower these timers? That way not everyone will be able to get it done and won't be such a strain on things, if in fact it causes any strain at all. I think I've earned quicker crafting sessions with my some thousand levels of crafting by now I'm sure, which will climb higher and higher as I do sub crafts for various characters. Gosh I don't even want to do the math on how much time all of that adds up to. Thousands of hours for sure. Ugh.
