Where to start? There's just so much to say about this broad topic, I don't think I can touch up on every single aspect, but I'll try.

Enchanted Town Teleport Items: I am grateful for being able to warp to a town of my choice, that is, whenever the resources are available. Unfortunately we're very limited on how often use these items.
-Ducal Guard Ring. Once your 5 charges are up, you might as well toss it. Disappointing reward from getting some CoP missions done.
-Tavnazian Ring. Once a day seems reasonable enough, people don't go there often enough. Not only that, but players can outpost warp right outside town as well.
-Town Stable Medals. Use up your 10 charges then toss them until the next in game event offering them for your reacquisition.
-Synergy Earrings. These level 30 earrings were added in March '10 yet they're Rare/Ex and HAVE to be crafted with synergy. They really can't be sold to other players on a broad market. As a result these were not very popular and just too many to obtain.
-I like having 1/1 on my enchanted items myself and maybe even if the reuse timer for these items were dropped.

Town Hopping: I'm talking specifically about ways to get from one town to another. Over all, a player has many options on getting from one town to another as quickly as possibly, but limited options on where you can go.
-Airships... What can I say really? I used to think it was so great when I got Rank 5 for my airship pass about 7 and a half years ago. Dead mode of transportation?
-Tidal Talisman. 40 hour reuse timer is terrible. Not accessible to anybody who missed out on the opportunity to get this necklace and in game item. It's an ok item to have whenever you don't feel like walking or taking the boat to Nashmau.
-Ease of Exploration. In my opinion this is the BEST THING EVER! This Kupower allows level 30+ players to get around to any starter town as well as Selbina and Mhaura. Sadly, you only get access to it rarely.
-Impereal Silver Coins. Once upon a time, people used to set their homepoint in Whitegate, in that town lived a Teleportaru who would warp players to either their hometown or Jeuno. It was somewhat efficient but lacked the option of getting to another town. On the other hand, getting from any town to Whitegate was more convenient, all you needed to do was complete Lure of the Wildcat quest & pay low price of 300 gil. However, some of the NPCs are quite a walk away from typical homepoints or mog houses. Thanks to whoever thought it would be a good idea to place Bastok's NPC past the bridge, it's fun getting stalled whenever an airship is inbound or outbound.

Outpost Teleportation: You can get to the region, but then you need to walk to get to the zone of your choice. Well, to get to an outpost you either need to be in your town and you'll have need to have completed a Supplies Quest for that region.
-Supplies Quest. You can ONLY perform a quest whenever the designated region is controlled by your nation during that given conquest tally. However, some nations rarely (if ever) have control over another town's local region or a specific region. Perhaps if a supplies quest were available at all times, this would be very helpful, especially to new players.
-Level requirement. Thank you for lowering the level requirement to teleport to these outposts. It was greatly needed.
-Return/Homing Rings. I personally used these quite a bit when they were new, the big draw back was that you needed to have completed a supplies quest in the region and your nation was required to have control of the region in order to use these items.

Campaign: I love being able to warp to specific zones instead of a region. Access to warp to these zones is simply provided to players after walking into the zone once. Not sure what else to add.

Chocobos: These buggers are primarilly available at towns and crags. Few suggestions here on travelling by bird.
-Outposts. I think that adding chocobos to every outpost to ease traveling to another zone in the region. Not every player has bothered raising their own chocobo for a whistle.
-Campaign Outposts. Some times, you don't get dropped off next to the appropriate campaign outpost.
-Chocobos in General. How is it that MY chocobo can get to many different corners of the world yet I'm limited to where I can call it with my whistle? I can call it to the furthest reaches of Bhaflau, the secluded lands of Altepa and even oversees to Yuhtunga & Yhoator? How does my chocobo do it? Did he run through Korroloka Tunnel? Did he swim across the Open sea route to Al Zahbi? Whatever the case is, I just want to saddle up my chocobo in the Northlands and Tavnazian Archipelago. 'Nuff said!

Anywhere else: Getting from Point A to Point B... ASAP.
-Horst: The fact that the upcoming update will allow us to set our homepoint somewhere else than Port Jeuno could be a big help. Personally I find myself using his teleport services to get me the nearest Field Manual, town or nearby point of interest.
-Fields of Valor. Repatriation still costs 50 tabs, despite it not seeming like much, they add up to quite a bit if you don't keep up with your Training Regimes. I'm disappointed that they can only be repeated once a game day for a tabs reward. No reason to restrict the amount of tabs accumulated per game day.
-Nexus Cape. It's a Love-Hate feeling I have for you. Many players have expressed their opinion on this item. The restriction on zones you can go to MAY have some unexplainable reasoning, but I personally just want to get to my party leader's location ASAP. What reasoning was there to include Attohwa, Uleguerand, Valley of Sorrows & Behemoth's Dominion but not the Sanctuary of Zi'Tah, Ro'Maeve, Boyada Tree or Dragon's Aery? Sky, Treasures & Wings zones I understand due to the Mission/Quest requirement. Any level 30+ punk with this item would attempt to exploit the Nexus Cape. Why not allow players to perform a quest to warp to currently excluded zones with the use of said quest? Example: Trade my Nexus Cape to an NPC in Sky, Naja Salaheem in Whitegate or my local Dominion Tactitian as proof that I have access to those pertaining areas.

Warps! So many options, never leave home without one. Sure, there are enchanted items such as Warp Cudgel & Treat Staff II, but I'm gonna focus on two specific items.
-Instant Warp. Thank you SE for drastically dropping the price in Conquest Points. Also, picking up a spare from some Artisan Moogles is a big bonus as well.
-Instant Retrace. Most troublesome of the two. Well, to start off you have to be in the past in order to pick one up to begin with. Otherwise, you either have to have the Black Mage to cast Retrace on you. Sometimes you just don't have time for shouting to pay for a Retrace; maybe you can't wait on a buddy to change their job to BLM; perhaps even, you don't have access to switching to BLM55+... So what do you do? You have to run to the nearest cavernous maw, then you'll need to run from the maw in the past to either a campaign outpost or your hometown to pick up the Instant Retrace which you'll forget to restock. This process can take quite a while, rather annoying especially when you're in a hurry.
-My proposal to solving issues like this would be to REMOVE THE RARE TAG! That's right, I'm referring to making these Instant scrolls as Ex only and stackable to 12 or 99. Carry a bunch of them with you and with the peace of mind that you'll be able to get to your homepoint in an instant. I don't see a problem with players expending multiple Instant Warps by repeatedly within a matter of minutes. Sometimes, I cast Warp on myself over and over while standing in the same spot. Lets allow other players without Warp spell to do the same!

And then yeah... Thanks for taking time to looking at what goes on inside my brain. I'm certain changes like this would be welcome with open arms by the FFXI community.

The one that gets me is the cost for using the Runic Portals. I've got 5k imperial standing at this point, I'm not gonna get a lot more any time soon with there being so little xp parties out in AU anymore. Sometimes I'm doing stuff that requires me to run around AU and digging a 200 IS hole each time without much hope of refilling it bugs me.
