not sure where to post this

back after a couple months of not playing and i just transferred my playonline account to my square enix account and once it was all done i went to update password so i put a new password in. But when i go to actually log into the game thru playonline it keeps saying incorrect password and a POL error.

I changed the password in the settings and before logging in so im not sure what is happening...anyone experience this before? i would try to get support but of course i cant until monday so im trying to find help if i can before that lol

There was this one time my game froze and when i tried logging back in it said password incorrect so I went to SE account management and changed the password and it worked fine.

I have yet to transfer my account to any of the new payment options though. It's unlikely but thought i should mention it since that seems to be the difference other than game freezing between our two situations.

Just make sure your POL password is correct in addition to your SE account password. (I hate that they both exist at the same time when clearly the SE account password supersedes the POL password by virtue of the fact that you have to type it in every time)

If i somehow mistook your predicament (which let's face it this stuff is more complicated than it should be) then i apologize but having said that I hope what i said helps.

Um...you think you could tell us how you did it? My friend is having this problem as well.

Very often this kind of problem is due to using the PlayOnline password to log-in, instead of the SqEX Account password. Make sure the PlayOnline password is set (and saved) in the member settings, and that the SqEX Account name is set, and that the one-time password is set to be used as well (if applicable).

Then, when logging in, it should be asking for the SqEX Account password, not the PlayOnline one.

Hopefully it is only this for your friend as well.
If not, and it has been changed on the SqEX Account Management site, all I can suggest more is to contact the Customer Service.

Good luck!

After you've done these things and the server still refuses to allow you access, claiming all the while that your password and/or POL ID is incorrect, then what do you do? Or has anyone else had that problem yet? I've emailed tech support of course, but in their usual manner of ineffectiveness I can't even expect a response for over a week. Presuming I could track down their number to contact them by phone, other posts indicate that it would be a monumental waste of my time. I'd love to know what moron thought this transfer would be a good idea. It's not as if I've heard of massive security breaches in the game, what was the point of triggering this large of an issue?

The timing of the first mention of the account transfer, seemed to come shortly after the Sony PlayStation Store incident. Not sure if that spurred them on or what, but maybe the idea was to strengthen it before something happens. Can't say it's a bad thought. But the transfer process itself doesn't seem well thought out and I think even SE is realizing it.
