Are NPCs randomly generated? Aside some Unique ones, they all seem to be..just thrown together lol. I understand players are restricted, but I've always wondered how you guys thought up NPC appearances gear wise.

Hume NPCs have always bothered me. You know, models that aren't any of the ones we have for characters. They seem... lesser detailed or something. They aren't quite right. Maybe a little creepy. But not as creepy as taru children, I suppose...

I can never tell if those NPCs are really that fat, or if it's just their weird posture and the kind of shirt they have on.

That reminds me...I've always wondered why more MMORPGs don't allow you to make your character fat or include more fat NPCs. Would jiggling man-teats and billowing back-boobs be too hard to animate properly?

The guy calls me a sucker under his breath, trades me orbs that have monsters inside them and has been reselling seals for a mint.

If my character wasn't such an altruist, id mail him a grenade.

Also that hume female looks like Bobby Hill.

NPCs like guards and more important stuff are clothed to look like who they're supposed to be. For the most part most NPCs make sense. I dont' see how this could be bothering you since before the game was released in the US.

Even in games with sliders to lend to the illusion of fat, muscle, breasts, or whatever, they're rarely a proper scaling (if you can even call the natural variances between people to due to genetics proper) and are mainly just adjustments to wire meshes the textures get applied to. As is, FFXI models aren't exactly complex enough to allow even sliders to look passable. Then again, I haven't really looked at DATs in that way for a few years now, so maybe newer stuff has more anchor points to work with.

I wish we had some more variance, but c'est la vie.

Cid is probably #1 freak of them all. The hume NPCs for the most part are terrible. While the tarus, mithras, and elvaan are all fine aside from the children but they're children so it's like whatever. It kind of feels like humes were the very last part of the game they worked on and started rushing it and yeah...

Sliders are also the cause of weight and body fat variance amongst White Castle customers.

Hey, I want Shami's hat!

Should be a reward for completing like every KSNM and BCNM with the orbs he gives you, or at least using one of each orb and winning. Effect when wearing it, he teleports you past the dungeon crawl of bordem and straight to the BC/KS arena of your choice, for a price of course. ....(Suckers!)...

I just feel sorry for all the shopkeeps who are giving it their all standing still all day at their stands, even when they have nothing to sell due to a particular region not being controlled.

Same for the guild dealers who still represent even during staff holidays. Did no one invent a closed sign in Vana'diel?

Where are the dogs of Vana'diel? We see pet rabbits, domesticated dhalmels, and even pet monkeys but we have never seen a single dog in any of the towns and cities. Come on, stop hiding them! We know they exist! Undead hounds have to come from somewhere!

They died out. Several animals you'd expect ingame either fell victim to fast spreading virulent diseases, overhunting or the ravages of war. Some of them persisted up to the crystal war, but were wiped out shortly after.

Another possibility is, that they simple are part of the background that you never see. Bastok has something like 500.000 resident I believe? You only see a tiny fraction of those. A quest in Port Bastok, "A Foreman's Best Friend" talks about a foreman and his dog gone missing, so SE probably chose to simply not display this part of ordinary life.
