Are these new NMs being aimed at full alliances or is the aim to make content for a party of 6 still? I guess this goes for all content from now on too really.
Just curious since the push was to try make content for smaller groups but it seems to be a little muddled now. All the old linkshells have died out more or less due to design decisions by the dev teams, seems odd if they intend to go back to full alliance content after destroying the LS mentality.

Haven't done a lot of VW yet - but what I've done so far (T1/T2 Bastok, T2/T3 Windurst) has been doable with ~8...
Just need to put a little thought into what jobs you bring and how you handle the fight...
My question is - to participate in the Jeuno Area content... do we need to clear ALL of the Bastok/Windurst/San d'Oria VW paths, or complete one path?
Players who have completed up to stage four of the San d’Oria/Bastok/Windurst Voidwatch missions and seen the corresponding cutscene may join the operation by speaking to one of the Voidwatch officers stationed in the three nations.
Is what I'm confused about...
I've killed the T2 and T3 NMs in the Windurst path - but without my Jade Abyssite upgrading from T1.
This is because I was at work when my LS killed the T1 NM... Am I still making progress on this front?

If you look at the new Voidwatch pics, the new mobs come with adds. This seems like a decision to shift desire back to alliances rather than the Abyssean setup.
Voidwatch as a whole isn't designed as 6man content. Even if you can handle the mobs, the need for procs encourages more people because drop rates are terrible.
@Francisco - There is a cutscene you trigger after getting all 3 T4 stones with Kupofried and Cait Sith in Pashhow (S). This could be what they are referring to.

No, you have to do them in order. It is like nyzul floors. Doing floor 100 doesn't count unless you did the whole way. However I think only T1 requires both NMs, all after that is just one of the available. (Though I think only T3 has options)
Taint2

All the current mobs we do with 7-8 players and 3-4 WHM mules with little trouble.
Unless they change the drop system though it doesn't really matter. VW is a great idea but the drop system is way too annoying to make it worth while.

Almost positive you have to kill both T3s.

I'm almost certain all VWNM can be done with like 5 SMNs, excluding Kholomodumo (Curse Spikes can't be dealt with easily w/ a SMN burn).
Abyssea has caused all the SMNs to QQ, but my SMN with crap gear can out DD my WAR on mobs like Lord Asag (WAR being weakened most of the time doesn't help much).

WAR gets a bit of epeen reduction with Voidwatch but what good is doing the event without the procs anyway.
6-8manning means shit when you hit few procs and get synth mats for the investment.
SMN, COR and PLD get their big break w/Voidwatch anywho.

I'm just saying if you're going for the wins. There's no real point to low manning past T2 anyway, T3 and T4 drops rock.

I prefer to call it giving people a choice over being forced to take entire alliances. Stuff is still best done as 18. It's everything that existed before Abyssea came out that no longer requires 18 for the best results, aside from Dynamis since it got changed, and it too is still best done as 18 people for at least relic weapon farmers.
Those with enough sense and understand what I am saying, are flourishing right now. They're probably bored out of their minds, and they probably prefer content be 18 man again so they can have their bragging rights, but they got it made.

I prefer 18 man content, that's what LS's are for. If you can do something with 6 people, it isn't really a challenge and it isn't really an LS event. Even doing Emp weapons with 18 members is tough(er) than with 6 because invariably you as a leader have to deal with people who are not as self motivated or knowledgeable or are flat out brain dead.
I look forward to new VW/content geared in this manner (not so much the drops but meh) - it lets you actually teach your members how to play and hold them accountable for what they do or fail to do. I also hope the new emp trials are from VW (Kills, preferably) so many QQs can be had.

The information we released about Voidwatch: The Second Chapter is great and all, but be honest, what most of you are interested in is the sweet, sweet loot. Right? Here is a video showing some of the new weapons that can be obtained. The names haven’t been finalized just yet, but the stats have been solidified. I also hear a rumor that the great katana has some hidden effect as well…Wonder what it could be…

Its clearly suppose to read "Occasional deals severe Camate" not "Damage".

In the video, he takes ~3 hits i think, 1 of them absorbs TP, and uses a WS.
then 5 hits later (1 absorbs TP) and he uses another WS (right before video switches to SAM)
So it must be pretty potent...

I'm guessing that PLD was just under some test server regain effect or something because that would have been around a 50tp drain. If that's not the case brains will melt.

I have to be honest in that I like the effect, I just hope they don't go too far with it. If you play wow every damn thing glows and when it's everywhere it's garish and lame. I like how it's a lot more subtle here and rare.
Do many people have a sagasinger yet? I have yet to see one, I'm assuming it's a very rare drop. Maybe these effects are kinda lag enducing if there were too many around so they have to be put on very very rare drop weapons (if so don't expect to see many or lust after one for yourself).
Leonlionheart
08-27-2011, 07:04 AM
No one goes after Sagasinger because Almace is easier and better. Also it's only really good for PLD, who really needs an Almace anyway.
I just pray that these new drops have some type of method other than the current one to get. Personally I think it'd be best to make it into a token system, even if you have to lower the drop rate. Specially for weapons like Great Katana, which is only for 1 job out of the 18 that will probably be doing the event.

Yeah but its pretty and showey, people want stuff like that so they can afk in PJ with it lol Currently it's the only glowing weapon in the game, and given most serious players are capped on pretty much everything it's suprising we don't see many of them around, which suggests the drop rate is silly low. If that's the case and this is the 2nd part of them showing off these kinds of weapons I won't hold my breath to see any of these around either.
That aside from the fact they will surely use the same loot system which will add stupidity to an already rare drop.

I'm happy for the cool looking weapons.
I'm happy that SAM gets to swing an Osode in the form a GK.
I'm concerned however that the Devs want us to consider swapping our beloved Empy weapons for anything else. Can you ask the mighty Dev team to consider us the opportunity to dip our Empys in whatever magic goo it is that makes these new weapons sparkle and blur around Camate? Y'know, like for our next handful of trials, we get the option to "imbue our godly weapons with the spirit juice of Altana" er something like that. They can still make these nice new weapons for those that don't have an Emp. weapon, but give us that do the chance to upgrade too.
I would love it if my Ukon trailed magical sparklies while crushing heads ^^

The weapons look really really cool. But I'll have to wonder, with some lament, if this means the Empyrean weapons have reached their piques? I would love it if Camate or another rep can answer this question: What's the next step of Empyreans looking like? Or have we reached the end of the line, waiting on a new weapon that's better than empyrean to surprise us and take make the few weeks/months of work mean nothing. I'm hoping it's the former...also, I will be looking for that sword for my blu.....will be nice :3

Uhm, are you playing my little pony or something? I haven't seen a single SMN that didn't praise Abyssea for being the best content ever. SMNs in general just complain about "No new attack BPs since 75", "Wards are mainly weaker than anything else and pointless", "Spirits sucks", "Not much help for the melee SMN" and so on.
All wards post 75 have been positively surprising though. I actually took the moment to ask my empyrean wielding NIN friend if the enfire helped much, and he said it doubled his damage (probably not on the double damage procs though).

You guys ever heard of sentinel scherzo and earthen armor?
I do not like the idea of having to do old void watch to do the new ones. Voidwatch isn't that popular and I almost never see any shouts or groups forming for it besides Japanese ones who do not want English speaking people to join them. Sure it would be fun to kill these new NMs but it probably won't happen due to the fact that abyssea gear is so easy to get and usually better then voidwatch gear.
Now most people won't even get to do the new void watch part 2 because it requires doing all the first part.

Latent effect on GKatana, i see twelves on there in the stats. Going by the near 100% cultural relevance FFXI has in many of its lore and weapons. I'd have to say this Katana is a relation to Biblical Significance, the Zodiac or the 12th century history of the Samurai.
Most likely the Way of the Warrior-Governmental perfection.
If the list is accurate on the wiki, Tachi: Rana is the twelve WS of the GKatana, Fudo being the 13th. SE likes to push the limits like in FF12 by signifying the 13th Unsigned Zodiac with relevance for being an Esper. Could be a GKatana that allows situational Fudo's? or some new hidden WS? Maybe every 12th or 13th WS is given new WS crit modifiers like Sams have been asking for?
More fuel for the fire I guess. So many things revolve around 12, time, biblical, Knights of the round. Why 12...So many things it could be.

The fact that they are revamping dynamis and salvage is proof enough that they want relic and mythic as the best weapons. Those weapons will be like sagasinger, cool looking but useless. Who went kill arch DL ? The previous NMs in voidwatch had not really good items // oneiros gear is more interesting. Worse (or better) some good items can be found at the AH, so why even farm crap there ? The march+3 instrument is apparently quite long to get, why would 18 men go after it when they could do dynamis get a superior item ? A single 6-man team can get 300 coins per run, so if 18 that's 900 per day so ~17 days for relic horn...
